A practical how-to guide for those interested in entering the craft beer business as a pub brewer, micro brewer, contract brewer or distributor. Includes financial and regulatory information, success stories from those already in the business and a clear description of each business type.
This is the second edition which I mostly skimmed with the exception of a few chapters. Part of this is about business plans, etc. while other chunks are about taxes and the like. There are some specifics about small breweries but you will need far more information than this to make a start. A good introductory/scare book.
A little dated and a pretty technical read. However, the short article/essay chapter formate made this easier to get through and it was a good overview without getting into too much detail on certain topics. Worth reading if you have considered opening a brewing business long before you try and start, there is a lot to it and this book outlines a lot I had never even considered.
This guide has many good nuggets of information for the aspiring brewery or brewpub owner. But they're dispersed throughout, and it takes patience to find them. Why? Because nearly every chapter is written by a different author, causing an inconsistent voice and an overlap of ideas.
Great informative book. Very much reads like a textbook though. Don't pick it up unless you are seriously interested in opening a brewery/brewpub. Tons tons tons of information!
