Great-Aunt Myra will visit the Rogers and everything has to be perfect. Amelia Bedelia follows all the instructions literally and of course this is a disaster...until Great-Aunt Myra tries Amelia's dessert.

Amelia has definitely the wrong occupation. She should have been a pastry chef!

SUPER FAST REVIEW:
Art and story are cute. I didn’t like that in some ways this book definitely copies book one. I would have actually given it 3 stars except there’s an adorable puppy that follows Amelia around in this one and that little puppy deserves a star so I’m giving this book a 4-star rating!

Great-Aunt Myra will be visiting the Rogers and Amelia Bedelia has to get everything ready, from stringing beans (with a string), to separating eggs (each one far away from the other)!

Hilariously literal housemaid Amelia Bedelia returns in this second early-reader adventure, once again creating chaos as she interprets the instructions she is given in unexpected ways. With a visit from Great Aunt Myra in the offing, the Rogers household is thrown into something of a tizzy, and Mrs. Rogers asks Amelia Bedelia to do such things as strip the sheets, check Mr. Rogers' shirts, and remove the spots from her special pink dress. When the much-looked for guest finally arrives, the Rogers are aghast to realize that once again their maid has misinterpreted their commands. Will Aunt Myra be offended by the mistakes? Or will Amelia Bedelia's delightful apple pie set all to rights...?

First published as a picture-book in 1964, with artwork by Fritz Siebel, this second Amelia Bedelia title was rereleased as part of the prestigious I Can Read series in 1992, with revised illustrations done by Siebel's daughter, Barbara Siebel Thomas. I recall reading this, and many of the other Amelia Bedelia books as a young girl - I must have read the original picture-book version of this particular one - and enjoying the hilarious series of mix-ups they contained. Entertaining and educational, these books will have beginning readers giggling, conscious that they are in on the joke, while they also learn some lessons about the importance of idiomatic expression, and the dangers of taking everything literally. Highly recommended to beginning readers with a taste for humorous tales, or to young people with a literalist bent themselves.

Between removing "spots" from a dress and "checking" the shirts, it's a wonder Amelia Bedelia stays employed. Good thing she makes scrumptious pies. I have always wanted to try one. I wonder if she has a recipe? Anyway, be prepared for another delightful smorgasbord of humorous antics!

Timeless values. Gratitude can sweeten tribulations to celebrations. Goodness can be contagious. People's feelings are more important than things that can be fixed and replaced.

In preparation for a visit by Great Aunt Myrna, house-keeper Amelia, pocketbook usually hooked inside elbow, follows instructions of Mrs Rogers to the letter, almost. Sheets stripped, dry-cleaned shirts "checked", pink dress "spots removed", roses "scattered", beans "strung", eggs "separated", vegetables -- pared? When jelly refuses to roll, "a little of this and a pinch of that" p 36 goes in the oven. Will Myrna march right back out again?

Indistinguishable from original illustrations, on cover Amelia dances gleefully. Inside thoroughly intent on tasks, her dedication shines bright. Like her old-fashioned 1950s Queen E 2 pocketbook is fixed inside her elbow, her obedience is set on the straight and narrow path. Amelia means well. Happiness from goodness spills over. Myrna may be older, bedecked with furs and jewels, but she has human tastes, appetite, appreciation.

Joy rewards hospitality, cooperation, loyalty, doing the best you can; feast and dance after harvest, barn-raising. Ethics cross time and place, same for Old World pioneers, New World founders; news is same over centuries. From Newfoundland to Vancouver, homes welcome strangers stranded by Titanic disasters.

Amelia Bedelia is still up to her antics and misunderstands everything.

This time it is during one of Mrs. Rogers great aunts visits.

She saves the day though with her great baking skills.

Thank You, Amelia Bedelia, by Peggy Parish. It's about a lady named Amelia Bedelia who has a job to get a house ready for Mr. Rogers and Mrs. Rogers' great aunt, who is named Aunt May, I think.

Amelia Bedelia is really nice, but she doesn't understand things the way they're supposed to be. She gets everything mixed up! Like, when she's told to "string the beans," she doesn't use a string at all. Instead, she finds a ball of string and hangs it on the beans like decorations! It looks so silly!

There's another part where Mr. Rogers tells her to "pair the vegetables," but Amelia Bedelia thinks he means to put vegetables inside pears! Can you imagine that? Vegetables in pears! Oh boy!

And the funniest part is when Mr. Rogers says to "separate three eggs." Amelia Bedelia puts one egg on the shelf, one egg on the clock, and one egg in the sink! That's not what he meant, but she tries really hard.

But you know what? Even though Amelia Bedelia messes everything up, she's still a nice person. And guess what? She fixes everything in the end! How? Well, she bakes a super yummy hot apple pie, and it makes everyone happy. The hot apple pie is like magic – it makes everything better!

I really liked this book because it made me laugh a lot. The pictures in the book are really funny too. You can see how Amelia Bedelia does all these silly things, and it's like a big joke. I think kids who like to laugh and read about funny mistakes will really like this book.

So, if you want a book that's full of funny mix-ups and a happy ending with pie, you should totally read "Thank You, Amelia Bedelia" by Peggy Parish. It's a great book for kids like me who enjoy giggles and surprises!

This book is amazing, and I can't wait for you to see my full review on my YouTube channel.

I loved the few Amelia Bedelia books I did read (or rather had read TO me as a kid haha) and I’ve decided now to read all of the main ones. I can not remember if I did read this one as a kid, some things did seem familar so I may have. I like the first one best so far, but this one still did put a smile on my face.

My Rating System 📖 (but I'm indecisive so ratings subject to change and not be consistent with my scale. A 4 star may actually be a 5 star and a 3 star may be a 4.5 star)

1 star: hated it. Would never recommend
2 stars: Not my cup of tea, but could be somebody else's
3 stars: I liked it well enough, I don't know if I'd reread, but I
would recommend if occasion arose
4 stars: I really liked it!! I would reread one day. I'd
recommend if occasion arose
5 stars: I LOVED IT!! I shall rave about it even if nobody
listens
*half stars get rounded up. For example, 3.5 stars will become 4 stars

Summary-
Amelia Bedilia is told to do very specific things around the house for Mr. and Mrs. Rogers. They want to make sure that their great aunt can feel at home. Amelia Bedilia takes things VERY literally and decides to mess everything up. Luckily for her, the great aunt loves the mistakes!

Review-
This Amelia Bedilia book started off harmless enough, but throughout, my mind changed really fast. I think that the premise is good, but they could've done something better. The writing is very choppy in the sense that it goes from one thing to something else, then back to that same thing. The pacing is handled well, other than the constant trips from Mrs. Rogers. The artwork in this one is simple, but detailed enough to work. I wouldn't recommend it, but if you choose it, you'll have fun.

Thank You, Amelia Bedelia is quite a funny read. Great-Aunt Myra is coming visiting the Rogers' and everything must be perfect upon her arrival. Mrs. Rogers gives Amelia a number of seemingly simple tasks to complete. However, Amelia has a tendency to get things a bit mixed up. Amelia and her silly mistakes are sure to keep readers laughing and on their toes. The pictures in the book seem to be done with some sort of watercolor. The images are very deep in pigment and really help bring each page to life. They perfectly illustrate Amelia's many mishaps and antics. This book is an easy read thanks to the large print size, beginner vocabulary, and helpful pictures. Also, each page only has about 2-3 sentences! I 100% recommend this book to anyone interested.

This is a good story for students to be able to read on their own and it includes a lot of dialogue. This would lead into a good lesson on figures of speech and how sometimes people say things, without checking to see if you understood what they meant. The story itself was okay because it was entertaining, but it did not really address deep topics. I think it would serve a good purpose if it was paired with a lesson.

My children love these little books. They thoroughly enjoy each and every story, as if they are all unique and individual without any cause for similarity among them. Even though sometimes, they might seem tedious and repetitive to me as a parent, I do enjoy being able to read short-stories to my children that are clean and respective.

Love these books, read this with my 7 year old today and it’s not as hilarious as some of her others, but I appreciate these books even more knowing now as an adult she was on the spectrum, you just needed to learn to be more specific in what to tell her you needed or wanted. Love that she is a baking savant!

These Amelia Bedelia books always make me laugh. These books are fun, but also get your brain thinking on how Amelia is going to switch things up. This would be a great book to read on opposite day!

Old Amelia takes everything literally and messes it all up but in a endearing fashion, pretty much the same as book one, but you know, you have to love Amelia anyway.

typical Amelia bedelia. my almost 3-year-old just loves these. he thinks they're silly even though he doesn't understand the jokes. I think he also likes that the story is a little bit more involved but there are still a ton of pictures.

A guest is coming to the house and Amelia Bedelia is set a whole list of chores in preparation. She cheerfully, if a bit confused, performs every single chore entirely wrong. But all works out as it makes the guest feel entirely at home.
