Hello God

Rate this book
Kate is twelve years old, and chats to God about everything - her parents and their new baby, her friends, getting used to her new glasses, even about the ants who drown in the puddles in her driveway. If God exists, why doesn't he teach ants to swim?Kate also talks to God about Stephanie, the new girl in her class. Stephanie isn't the sort of girl Kate is usually friends with; she's too 'nerdy' for a start. And she looks weird, too. But getting to know Steph proves to be unexpectedly interesting for Kate, making her look at friendship in a new way.Things get serious when Steph becomes ill. Steph's a good person, so why isn't she getting better? But just when Kate's ready to give up on God, she finds the answers to her questions in an unexpected place.

I read this book when I was 11. And I really liked it, which was a surpraise because I never really liked books with diary entries or should I say prayer entries. Kate becomes friends with Steph. But Steph has a problem. She is deadly sick. And then theres this boy that Kate always liked but he likes Steph. And Kate is okay with that. And it just teaches you like love for others and that talking to God is a good thing :)

Hello God is a bittersweet novel of truth. Kate has questions for God, plenty of them. When she meets Steph, she has even more. Why is everybody so mean to her for being herself? Why can’t everybody leave her alone? And then most of all, why is she so sick? She’s nice, not mean, why do bad things happen to good people? Kate begins to realise through her friendship with Steph, that there are some things that you ask; you never get the answer to.

This book was so breath taking because this was probably the first cancer book that really got me. It was so hard to put down and I can't even remember when I didn't like this book. After I finished this I cried so much it was so powerful just because it was so simple and straight forward. Although people may overlook this book because of its relation to god it is so worth reading.

Although I was gifted this book years ago and read it previously I re-read it to get back into my love for reading and what can I say - I still cried at the end. Only a short read, the author portrays the purpose of the story well and builds a good picture about a young girl discovering births, deaths, the universe and God. Overall a very easy read, a book that always plays on mind
