Zoe & Chloe #3

Girls to Total Goddesses

Rate this book
Zoe and Chloe have a mission: to transform themselves into goddesses in seven days (or thereabouts anyway - eight if they need the extra time). But who for? Zoe has a horrible dilemma. Having hated the horrible Beast for making Chloe's life a misery, Zoe has now realised that all was not as it seemed. When Beast came to both their rescue, Zoe's heart was completely overturned. But Zoe has told him she never wants to see him again. And how can she get him back without upsetting Chloe? And - more importantly - how can she compete with the gorgeous new girl on the scene, Charlie, with her trim hips, speckly eyes, fabulous mascara and tawny skin? The Goddess Project just got even more complicated . . .

this book has always been one of my favourites. i remember reading it as a kid, reaching the end, and instantly wanting to start it all over again, which is the highest of praise. it’s funny, it’s british (kind of essential for my enjoyment of chick lit, ngl), and it’s an easy read, as it’s aimed towards preteens but still very funny as a young adult. of course, being written in the 2000s, there are a few slurs sprinkled in there - less than ideal - but almost synonymous with the genre of noughties chick lit, heartbreakingly. i actually adore the ending; i like how zoe’s fantasy comes to life so suddenly, and it’s breathtakingly adorable. of course the whole “you don’t need makeup/exercise/etc to be a goddess, you just need to be you” cliche was inevitable, but the scene with zoe and beast cuddled up watching rose perform just about made it bearable. i actually would’ve preferred more of a makeover scene myself, as i’m really into that sort of thing, so i would’ve liked more detail of how amazing they managed to look by the end of their project, only to then realise it didn’t matter after all, it was all on the inside, etc etc - but i guess their giving up on the project was probably a more realistic turn of events. anyway! i’m rambling - this book is a lot of fun. i’d recommend - just maybe grab a pen to scribble out the offensive language.

Ocenila bych, kdyby překladatelka nepoužívala výraz "kozy".

Snaží se být třeskutě vtipná za každou cenu. To není dobrá cesta.

Good book, but no real plot, no romance, and it didn't grip me, as I thought it should have.
