I haven’t said anything about the antagonist in this series, but I can’t keep quiet any longer! Oh boy, does Rachel find ways to cause trouble!

If I am to be honest, I will have to admit I am ready to contact Jerry and ask if he has actually known someone like “Rachel” who is (or was) Amish. This character is so nasty! She is deceitful, vindictive, hateful, willful, judgmental, manipulative… well, I think you get the idea.

We get just an idea of how hateful she is in the first book; in the second much more of her characteristics come out. The third book shows how much hurt she causes her immediate family, as well as those in her community and in Wheat Ridge.

This character was so entirely unexpected, I kept looking for her to come under conviction and have a change of heart, to confess her sins… but it never happened. However, I will say that I was pretty satisfied with the ending of the book.

Jerry does a superb job finishing out the story of Rebecca and John. I cried with them, I fretted with them, and I rejoiced with them. Great trilogy, Jerry!

After reading this trilogy, I cannot wait to get to the next series. I have just finished collecting the series Hannah’s Heart and tonight I’ll be starting on A Dream for Hannah. I’m just as sure as can be that this series will be every bit as wonderful as the Adam’s County trilogy!

This last in the series is the best. Well worth reading the first two, which weren't that good, in my opinion. This last one more than makes up for them!

The first two in the series really make you not want to read the third. Read it! Well worth it. I’d have had it done sooner, but had activities Friday-Sunday night. The Pride in the character most liked from book 2 didn’t carry over into book 3. Very glad. Pride is highly frowned upon by God. Being a Mennonite (losing the internet once I join the church) I can only cringe at how the Amish think of us. We haven’t had tv in years. I don’t remember the last time the tv cubby wasn’t used for canning jars! Rebecca makes all the right choices. I never liked the character “Atlee” from the start. I think Rachel’s ending is just right for her. One comment mentions wondering if the author ever knew someone like her. He’s a Bible man. He does. Pharaoh kept having his heart hardened by God every time he’d say the Israelites could leave Egypt but he wouldn’t let Moses and Aaron take them. Finally, he gave up after the last thing God did to harden his heart. He and his Army ended up chasing after them…to get swallowed by the Red Sea. I see Rachel as this series Pharaoh. I can’t be sure, but it certainly seems that she was written to have her heart constantly hardened…even toward poor Luke…and to enjoy someone’s death is atrocious. Not all Amish hate Mennonites…my mom found some on a train that talked to her for most of the ride only to find out that they live on the same road as our cousins…I thought only our family lived on the road! They had lots to talk about lol. Back to Rebecca…she’s just a girl looking to marry just a guy when a whole bunch of money came into play. Go on her entire journey even if you have to use toothpicks to keep your eyes open. I just wish the little old lady from the end of book 1 and book 2 was invited to the wedding! She’d have loved that, but maybe they don’t invite “Englisha” to their weddings…unlike us.

I enjoyed this book .A powerful ending that money can't buy love. I felt sorry for Rebecca at times.
I was glad to see John stick by Rebecca 's side and their love shines.

Rebecca had a choice to make regarding her life. Does she go back to Attlee or marry John who she loves. She chose John to marry but not for money. She put God first to obey Him. To follow her heart. She did nothing wrong but gave everything to God. She knew that she could count on Him. HE always does the right thing for us.

Good ending to trilogy

This book is a good ending to The Adam's County Trilogy. The story comes together with both sadness and happiness with some unexpected endings. The books need to be read in order to understand the ending.

I really enjoyed Rebecca’s story! Unfortunately, the character Rachel and her unbelievable ugliness was too distracting. I didn’t like how they wrapped up her story in the last few lines of the book.

Wonderful series - I liked the last book best because I felt I knew the characters. I would recommend reading all three books back to back...

Good enough. I preferred the other two books in this series. However, this is a good wrap up of all the characters.

My Review - This book was pretty good...Rachael did get on my nerves through-out the book and I thought it was pretty low the things she would do to get the money. Although the ending was sad I thought it was appropriate. This was also my favorite book out of the whole trilogy. And I'll probably read other books by Eicher. So overall I gave it a 4 star!

Devotion, Doubt, Devastation….

Jerry has created a very perplexing and interesting story of young love. His characters are lively, intriguing and sometimes unpredictable. The story line seems realistic to the Amish style of life.

The characters were a bit hard to follow in the beginning (Perhaps because I haven’t read other books in this series), but after the first few chapters everything flowed well and was easy to visualize. Descriptions and emotions are well presented. One could easily step inside the story.

Rebecca and John’s love is put to the test of honesty, trust and faith. Can they remain true to their love, their family and their way of life in the face of unforeseen difficulties?

Rebecca’s Choice will surely find a place in your heart.

Rebecca’s beloved teacher has willed her as the sole heir to her property and money, instead of her immediate relatives (rightful heirs). This has caused problems for Rebecca, John, and her community. Rachel Byler, a rightful heir, schemes and plots to get back the inheritance to the point of hurting those close to her. Will all this fuss interfere with Rebecca and John getting married, or will things be tainted by the inheritance.

This was a very strange story. I didn't understand all the concern about how things might 'look' vs. how things really were - that no one really believes Rebecca is just strange to me. that an Amish woman would be so consumed with being wealthy seems strange to me. That an Amish woman would try to manipulate someone to leave the Amish faith by changing her will seems strange to me. I don't think I will be reading any more novels by this author!

Third book in the trilogy. This book seems a little deeper than the others. It does switch back and forth between two locales and two sets of characters, and that makes the book harder to understand. I thought it was a little unbelievable that the community would condemn Rebecca so easily for something that was not her fault.

This was by far the most well-written book by Jerry Eicher that I've read. I do wish I'd realized it was the conclusion to a trilogy, but i really didn't miss anything important by not reading the first two to begin with.

A good conclusion to the series. There's a lot to be learned from how the families' faith affected their choices and attitudes and also about the benefit of being content with and appreciating what we have.

I read a lot of Amish themed books but this one was the best I've ever read. The reason is the great moral story concerning the love of money. This was an enjoyable read with much to think about. I loved the powerful ending.
