The author is an American who "has been a leader in the field of organic horticulture, nutrition, and health and has for more than 25 years helped arouse and provoke thousands. For the first time in America's history there is rampant talk about chaos and disaster..." It is the author's contention that America is threatened from within and he wrote the book to make it able for others to protect themselves, not with guns and arms but by providing for their own necessities of shelter, food, fuel, water.

Both a hilarious and useful book. Tobe is something of a fearmonger; he's a bit of a paranoid survivalist (just a bit) and much of what he says should be taken skeptically. That said, a lot of the concrete advice about gardening and farming is much better. You could easily get the same advice from any organic gardening/farming book, or from hanging out with organic growers; however, his paranoid, hyped-delivery makes the book worth reading, half for laughs and half for serious.

Picked this book up while at a cottage we rented. It is an old book from 1971 on bext farming practices. Good book if you are looking for good general advice on running a farm. About 400 pages in all.
