Robin Hood: Friendly Fire

Rate this book
Robin is horrified when a young villager is killed during a skirmish with Gisborne and his men – and the arrow in the boy’s back is one of his own. As an angry mob of villagers descends on Sherwood, Robin refuses to fight on if innocent people are in danger. Shunned by the people he has sworn to protect, Robin is taken to Nottingham Castle by Gisborne. But Tuck, convinced that Robin is not to blame, attempts a daring rescue mission to clear the outlaw’s name and convince him to take up his bow once more. For how else will free men rally to the legend of Robin Hood?

I loved this! Especially the music accompanying Tuck's speech!
The only thing that grated on my nerves was Kate's presence (she was completely superfluous to the plot: her character could have been struck off completely and nothing would have changed). Everything else was perfect!

Not really sure why this needed to be made but David Harewood does an excellent job narrating. Just overall kind of a boring story, but not as badly written as some others.

Friendly Fire is the third book in this six book series. If you are a fan of the Robin Hood series on the BBC then you really can't pass by these books. Read by David Harewood who plays Tuck on the series, I found this to be the weakest link in the grouping so far. He reads in the same tone of voice for most of the characters. His range seems limited. However, it is a must-read if you love the series. Each book is roughly 60 minutes with a short interview with the reader at the end. The stories mesh well with the beloved series. This series of stories is a great addition to the television series, which in my opinion was cut short. There are neat sound effects as well. I recommend!

Very enjoyable audio book set within the new Robin Hood TV series canon. I thought David Harewood did a great job distinguishing between the different 'voices'.
