The previous book Aeolian Earth is about the peaceful childhood of the author's alter ego, Petros.
It's all about his serene, peaceful childhood memories the years before WW1 and the Greco-Turkish War with all of its atrocities (genocides, concentration camps, mass killings, population exchanges).
This book has all the violence that was absent from the previous one.
It is about the tragic and horrendous experiences of the author as a captive by the Turks. Endless marches in desert like landscapes, no water, no food, lynchings, murder without reason, and the final destination: a concentration/labour camp.
From the 3000 Greek males that were captured by the Turks from the author's hometown only 23! survived.
The author was one of them and this is his story. A story which narrates his 14 months of hell and how he survived.
This book was written with blood said the author himself.
A book that checks out multiple trigger warnings but at the same time an important book to be read by anyone. Greek, Turk, etc.
