I am always currently reading this book because it gives a nature story or fact for each day, plus a longer introduction to what is going on in the natural world for each month. It pushes me to put on my nature observation lenses and be more attuned to the world around me.

Good idea, but the day by day calendar, with specific events in various New England locales on every day of the year, wasn't the best. All the events were interesting, but I didn't think the locations really mattered. Were these real events, or fictional -- never clear.

Excellent! Some folks might be put off by the way the author hopscotched around New England, month by month. But I think that approach only adds to the serendipitous way we experience nature. It usually just takes you by surprise.
