¿Single dad? ¿Forced Proximity? ¿Hate to Love? ¿Grumpy x Sunshine? ¿Small Town? Mi debilidad.

Los libros de vaqueros son mi nuevo vicio 🛐 me disculpo de antemano por la persona en que me convertiré a partir de ahora

I remember enjoying the previous books in this series, have no clue why I didn't continue with it. This one is nice, the hero is a rancher and a single father at the end his rope. His horrid ex who was never in the picture is trying to take his daughter away. That and his daughter's recovery from an accident is draining his finances. On top of that he has to let the heroine, who happens to be the daughter of the man who destroyed his family (an accident that killed his father and left his mother with traumatic brain injury), help his daughter. This one was nice. We have a heroine who wants to help and is reeling after the loss of her career and the man she thought she would spend her life with (turns out he lied about his marital status). I loved the slow-burn between these two.

Pretty decent story ruined by the ending. How much apologizing does the Hero have to do?? He doesn't need to get down on his knees to prove that he is telling the truth. Enough is enough already and it went way overboard for me.

The story of Belle Day and Cage Buchanan was, well, a bit meh... Take it or leave it, really.
No spoilers: I liked Belle - she has problems and unresolved issues but she's taken those emotions and channeled them into becoming an underpaid therapist (aka good heart, little superannuation). Recently the subject of scandal, she's fled her day job to go work with Cage Buchanan's daughter out on a ranch somewhere near the Double C. The process by which this arrangement has been organised is never explained to my satisfaction; but whatever, this is a romance novel, so I'm prepared to suspend my disbelief. Anyway, so Cage was quite annoying. He's got major issues with Belle's family, with his ex-wife (who's depicted as pure caricature of evil, grasping, non-maternal ex-wife), with relating to his daughter, with the nearby townsfolk, with everyone. The only thing that saves him is that he's hawt, apparently. Luckily, he's able to get over all of his considerable emotional problems and social interaction dysfunctions by falling in love...
So, in the end, 'home on the ranch' was OK, not fab, not terrible.

I read this book years ago, one of my first romance and I love it. From hate to love story, give it a try.

Allison Leigh's story was predictably a little better. I've found the second story in these Harlequin duologies tend to be a bit better so I wasn't surprised. I've never read Allison Leigh before and I'm not really sure I'll continue with the series although it was interesting.

The Buchanans and the Days have a bit of a hatred thing going on. Apparently it all goes back to a car crash years before which killed Pa Buchanan. Everyone was angry and guilty so...general hatred for all.

When Cage's daughter Lucy needs some therapy he has to hire a Day to help him out. Belle comes out to the ranch in a live-in capacity (M-F) and begins to take over Lucy's therapy. There she discovers a protective father who hates Day's on principle. Sparks fly and they get involved. Of course Cage makes some stupid thing over her being a Day.

Oh and the biggest thing in this story is Cage's real first name.

It's Unique. Seriously, it is. I figured it out the very first time he started to explain.

I enjoyed the story more but in the end I wouldn't really recommend either of these. They were sort of dry and a little boring. I think the lesson for me is to stop reading the Harlequin duologies for awhile.

I read a few reviews prior to reading. I was going to read anyway.
I read about complaints about too much apologizing.
I don't see it as him apologizing, actually, but showing that his heart truly was open, and that he wasn't what she had thought. That she had over-heard wrong.
See, this is why you don't listen in on conversations, you miss important parts.

I love the interaction between Lucy and Belle. My step-mom and I didn't have that sort of relationship when I was growing up. Now, that I'm older, with kids of my own, it's better, but then, no, it wasn't good. At all. A large portion of it was mine, and an issue with hormones. But it's something I'm thankful we've worked through.

Cage, and finding out his "unique" actual name was quite funny. What sort of parent saddles a kid with that name, especially a boy :O It's so not a fair deal.

It was SO nice to see Squire again. I'm really stuck on that guy!

3.5 stars. I have become somewhat of an obsessive with this series and love the characters and the overall family dynamics. This book tells of Belle Day, Gloria's daughter. Belle takes on a job to help a girl injured in a riding accident. Cage Buchanan needs a physical therapist and unfortunately for him that person also happens to be the daughter of the man who he blames for the tragedy that beset his family years ago. Can the two put aside the animosity to help an injured girl and can they learn to move on from the past and find love with one another. Another good read in this series. Recommended read
