(in reference to understanding warhol’s early work)
“….‘effective being’ now belongs not to the individual but to the series, to plurality, to reproducibility. in a world driven by the tempo of mass production and consumption, that which cannot be conceived, produced, and disseminated in multiple form can not longer have significant existence. or, as anders ironically puts it, we have come to inhabit a world based on the ‘commodity character of all appearances,’ where ‘reality arises first from reproductions.’”
