By exploring the philosophical character of some of the greatest medieval thinkers, An Introduction to Medieval Philosophy provides a rich overview of philosophy in the world of Latin Christianity.
Good and thorough but very much a reference work. Was not presented well for reading cover to cover. Something similar with more of a readable flow and scaffolding of concepts would be desirable, but if you are just after a reference work this is good.
4.5 stars. An excellent overview of a topic that (regrettably, IMO) remains Terra Incognita for most educated persons in the west. You will need a bit of philosophical maturity before diving in (ie. a couple of Platonic dialogues, a introductory one volume history of philosophy). Once you have those prerequisites this book should be your first stop before tackling the Scholastics.
