Reshaping... looks at women's involvement in cosmetic surgery and raises the question of why women put themselves under the knife for operations which are painful, risky and expensive and often leave them in worse shape than before.
Slightly dated and formulaic, but otherwise a lovely book discussing a difficult subject in a measured way. Lots of methodological reflections, so great for a PhD student... An interesting inquiry underlies the book, which tackles at its core the structure/agency debate.
good book , i think of this subject all the time , and have been reading on it for more than one year , i'm doing my research on the origins of sex's differences , sure , there are innate factors , but , social inviornment has deep effects on us , especially during our childhood . as the book mentiones , media indusry nurtures these female/male differnces for its benefits . my believe is , in order to tackle this problem correctly , we need education reform ( preschool ) , communicatins reform ( media ) political reform ( rules and legislations ) economic reform ( capital system ) .
Mon rêve ça serait de me promener dans Prague, de croiser Lynch en plein sur la place de la vieille-ville, et d’apprendre sa mort 1semaine après, sans qu’il ait jamais pu adapter La Métamorphose.
