Hypnotherapy: A Handbook

Rate this book
This handbook is intended for those professionals who are concerned with the management and treatment of medical and psychological disorders and the counselling of people with behavioural and emotional problems, and who wish to learn more about the application of hypnosis to their work. The book assumes no prior knowledge of hypnosis on the reader's part, and the first two chapters provide an introduction to the subject. The remaining chapters cover the use of hypnosis with psychological, sexual and physical problems and in medicine and dentistry - there are also chapters on hypnotherapy with children, and on professional and legal issues.

About the author

Who am I? British (no sympathy please). Child of the 50s & 60s. Lancashire born and bred, but now living in Sheffield. My career has always been as a psychologist, working with people with neurological and mental health problems and clients, offenders and patients in the civil and criminal justice systems. I’ve been a university lecturer too.

Books? Well, during my career I established a reputation in the field of hypnosis and (co)-edited and co-authored several books on the subject. I’m not given to boasting, but if there is one that I am especially proud of it is Hartland's Medical and Dental Hypnosis (2001). In my retirement, I’ve published three books on the theme of ‘Universal Awareness’ (more commonly expressed as ‘universal consciousness’), the latest being ‘The Meaning of Universal Awareness: A Rational Foundation’. I write for the interested lay person.

Enough of me, but should you want more, visit my website (https://www.mheap.com/), where you will also discover that I’m active both as a humanist and a dyed -in-the-wool skeptic. My blog is attached to my website (https://www.mheap.com/Blogger.html).
