Following her best friend's birthday bash, Carly Beck awakens in bed, with a hangover, with her gorgeous party dress replaced by a ugly bathrobe, and minus her lucky red shoes, and discovers that, if she wants to reclaim her treasured footwear, she must agree to the zany terms of gorgeous Evan McLeish. Original.
This is a special book to me. Mom gave it as a graduation gift to me back in elementary. I know. It has some hnnng ~ sex scenes but Mom probably didn't know. I haven't read it until I guess college. Tried reading it once when I was in elementary but got bored so I haven't read the sex scene part until college. Love this!
Such a fun read! Written before cell phones, the best part of the story is how everyone leaves voice mails on her home phone. From her sweet cat Odin to the lovable side characters, Liana Merrill wrote a delightful story with a wonderful ending!
This book was a nice contemporary romance. I’m a ‘glass slipper’ gal and that’s what drew me to the book...
The description of the book I am listing below is from the back jacket of the book. I'm adding it because I believe the one on the Goodreads page does not depict this story.
All She Has To Do Is Say Yes...
Carly Beck has a few things in common with Cinderella...but she's pretty sure that fairy godmothers don't usually replace a gorgeous party dress with an ugly bathrobe and a hangover. But that's where Carly finds herself after her best friend's birthday bash--in bed, minus one pink silk dress, and worst of all, without her lucky red shoes. Those shoes have seen Carly through countless Hollywood auditions and a stint as a talking vegetable. They are her life. But who could have them? Who was the last person...oh, no. Evan McLeish. He of the dark hair, blue eyes, and sexy smile. He's got them, all right, and if Carly wants them back, she's going to have to agree to his terms...
I enjoyed this, as did my mom. We were delighted with the light humorous touches, the relatable characters, and the real friendship between Dana and Carly. A nice point in the author's favor is that the sex is delayed until nearly the last quarter of the book, and is handled with rather more discretion that might be expected. Carly is a bit insecure, and the red shoes give her a boost. When something happens to the shoes, the old insecurities return. At the same time, gorgeous man comes into her life, but is he really Prince Charming or a toad? Read this fun light romance to find out.
