Café Bonheur will have to survive through some turbulent times if it's to stay happy--and in business! "A sweet, light-hearted confection of a shojo manga." --Manga.About.com "A very pleasant and friendly story. It's like spending a sunny day with friends." --ComicsOnline
It's not the best thing, but I'm feeling nostalgic. I don't really remember much but then something will happen and I'm like "ohhh yeahhh." It has made laugh out loud a few times too.
This volume was really fun & introduced some great new characters. I especially liked Sou Abekawa, he seems like a great new character with a lot of potential. The bonus chapter "Estimated Young Man and Girl" was also really cute & fun to read.
Contains Chapters 6 - 10 & bonus chapter "Estimated Young Man and Girl"
Pretty good sequel to charming manga series! I was wondering why the boys in this manga were drawn so (pls, excuse the word... Don't get the wrong idea, this is just the word which I think girls would use to describe them) sexily (there, I said it), then I realized this was SHOUJO, not SHOUNEN.
Happy Cafe takes place in a bakery that specializes in western sweets. The staff is a little odd, but kind at heart in subtle ways that really make an impact.
The manga is character and community driven, it reads more episodically, so it can move the story forward quickly. Like a sitcom.
Body proportions can be weird but that’s rather commonplace for a debut series. Get ready for some big shoujo eyes!
I like the female lead, Uru, she grows on you really quickly. She’s loud and clumsy, but she’s kind and very straight-forward unless it’s an inconvenience to others. She doesn’t know how to handle her physical strength. She’s thoughtful and determined. While she is in high school we don’t see much of her academic life outside of some studying.
The other main characters are a bit different from Uru. They’re very observant and caring, both of Uru and the patrons of the shop.
Shindo, the eldest and pseudo shop leader, has rough edges but he’s a softie. It’s hard not to laugh at his more violent tendencies.
Ichiro has a cool, calm and confident vibe offset by his bizarre tendency to fall asleep when he’s low on sustenance. He has to be force-fed to regain consciousness.
This is a nice light comedy manga. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked this up, but its exceeded my expectations and I’ll be collecting the rest of the series.
Oh the fluff... it's killing me. I really love Uru's relationship with Ichirou (with everyone for that matter), it's really funny, like sibbling style. And also, Shindou and Sou being all soft when they see Uru smiling laskjdalksjdaskldjlaskj - Nunca se si hacer estas "reviews" en inglés o en castellano.
It was kind of obnoxious when they constantly told us the name of the main character at the beginning of each chapter IN THE SECOND VOLUME. Like, seriously, I know this by now! Maybe the beginning of each volume but NOT EVERY CHAPTER. It was better than the first one, it picked up a bit and was a LOT more interesting than the first volume.
There was a lot of side commentary and undirected dialogue that I couldn't determine the speaker of. There are new characters and I only like half of them. The story and Uru are very cute, and getting to know her coworkers is slow but fun. The short story at the end, "Estimated Young Man and Girl" was exceptionally cute and I'm disappointed it's not a series.
Well the premise is very appealing but there are some minor annoyances such as; every chapter there is an introduction of the main characters if I have bothered to read 2 volumes I think I got it by now. I also think Uru's character is very likable, someone i'd want to be friends with but for the lead character she seems to be sloppily drawn. I just wish the art was better and I don't mean her petite figure or being child like that doesn't bother me i just think she is poorly drawn. The male characters appear like more time has went into their artwork i think they are drawn quiet nicely and perhaps this is what makes it even more bothersome for the appearance of Uru.
With all that being said I'm enjoying the read for the most part its light and fun easy to pick up and put down and sometimes i need a break from intense reads. This seems to be shaping up to be a feel good read, but Im hoping to see some future plot development its to early to cast definitive judgement at this point.
This is a funny and ADORABLE manga series. The storyline with romances makes it adorable, but also the characters are literally adorable. The main character, Uru, age 16 (they always point out how old each character is, which I find hilarious, but also helpful), is so cute. She is always so sweet and caring. A little kindergartener, Sakura, is now a regular at the cafe, and she is adorable times 10. She's one of my favourites, and she appears throughout the series (but you first learn her name in this volume). The bonus story at the end of the book, Estimated Young Man and Girl, was great as well. Interesting characters and plot.
Series Review: Happy Cafe is a sweet and funny manga that is a great light read. The characters are hilarious (often times even the bad guys) and the plot is never boring despite its slower pace. The romance is a slowly developing relationship that is refreshing in a overfilled market of instalove trends. The ending was kinda rushed but cute in its own way. I recommend this manga to those who are looking for a light read.
This series is pure, silly fluff. There's nothing amazing about the art, and sometimes it's actually a little confusing (a set of brothers comes along in this volume, and I cannot for the life of me tell them apart from Shindo and Ichiro), but Uru is pretty adorable, and it cracks me up every time she goes, "Mwee hee hee!"
As with volume one, there didn't seem to be much depth to the story or characters, but this is one of those series that doesn't need it. Like pop music - silly fun that makes for good reading on a lazy Sunday afternoon...
There's something so charming about this story. The new rivals and Uru's growing relationship and understanding with Shindo is all so cute. Even though the frames of the scenes made me a bit confused, this manga is fun to breeze through.
masih dengan halaman 1/4 na, ni penulis mang beneran narsis ya? untunglah banyak tokoh-tokoh baru yang dimunculkan dan permainan konflik na masih berputar seakan masalah penulis na yang berusaha menjadi orang bahagia.
Ok I love this series... What a strange group of people... A short but very strong girl, a guy who falls asleep if he doesn't eat something and a guy who looks rough outside but is a softly! LOVE them!
Thought this a was an interesting series. I liked how the romance was subtle, almost unnoticeable until the end. I thought it was good that instead of focusing on romance, it focused on the comedy, story line (had some great feels!) and character development.
