A Chaos Space Marine is a towering warrior, whose brute strength is tempered by inhuman skill. Armed with a fearsome bolter, protected by a suit of power armour and the product of intense training and genetic manipulation, he is far beyond a mortal man, transformed into a lethal, superhuman killing machine. The Chaos Space Marines were once Humanity's ultimate warriors, dedicated to the defence of the Emperor and the Imperium of Man. Having since sworn themselves to the Dark Gods, in exchange for untold power and immortality, they wage war on the very worlds they once fought to protect.

Although now horribly outdated, this book was nonetheless a good introduction to the Chaos Space Marines army. It has been a long time since I last played Warhammer 40K and since I never played Chaos, I did gain some valuable insights from it. Can't wait for the refreshed codex to come out.
I played 40k back in middle school and did not touch it for years. A few years ago some friends in Milwaukee decided to start a group, and within weeks I'd been convinced to purchase a Chaos Marine starter kit. This decision was made easier by the fact that I was gainfully employed at a gaming store at the time.
Notwithstanding my personal views of GW economic practices, this was a well-balanced guide to both the 'fluff' of CSM in the latest incarnation of 40k and the myriad options to customize an army that could be tailored to anyone's play style.
