J. D. Willd is the author of more than sixty novels, five collections of poetry, and three children's books. She lives in Richmond, Virginia. And when she is not busy writing, she works with the American Cancer Society to help find a cure for cancer. A cause she joined proudly after the death of her mother in 2009 from "Lung Cancer". Several of Willd's poems have been used by "ACS" to help further the fight against cancer, including "Birthdays" a poem inspired by the "more birthdays" campaign.
