I used to love reading Maddy a lot when I was at my first boarding school and it has always been one of my favourites in the series.

It is Maddy's idea to have a holiday romance. She wants a proper man like Mr Darcy and for once she has a chance as her dad is taking her to Barbados for 2 weeks. Maddy has a difficult home life as her mother is fickle with men and they are usually tight financially. In Barbados she meets someone but there are complications and some sad moments.

I always loved the exotic location and still want to go to Barbados! Maddy is a sweetheart and is very much in to the Arts which I identify with. However she has a difficult home life and has some difficult times during this book which Petty sometimes turns in to black comedy. This one is very readable and I love the fact that Maddy meets Holly who we find out more about in another book!
