This mystery begins in San Francisco where PI Mike Lancer stumbles onto, what appears on the surface, to be nothing more than his client's desire to have the wishes of her late husband fulfilled. When Mike is attacked and ends up in a coma, things become more difficult, not only for his client but his wife, who must pick up where he left off. Angela Lancer is unprepared for and terrified by what happens before she and their client, Molly McEltry travel to Phoenix, AZ to confront her in-laws. When Mike recovers and joins them in Phoenix they are caught in a web of lies and deceit, with no clear path to the truth, or a resolution of the obstacles that lay before them.
