Where can you go to escape your mind when it turns against you?

If you indeed can't escape your mind, then what can you do instead?

Mr Backus suggests we learn to tell ourselves the truth, and in a clear readable format he teaches exactly this. The profound wisdom contained in these pages can be easily missed, so I've had to return to it multiple times as I've recognised this book is 'superior' to my understanding, and only makes sense after life has beaten me down a bit more and humbled me enough to see the lessons contained in its pages.

I hope this book changes your life as much as it has mine.

In 2021, I was put in the hospital at 26 years old with COVID pneumonia. I came out of that experience with a lot of anxiety and depression. I sought counseling and was given this book to do. To say it was life changing, would be a huge understatement. I never knew how important self talk really is, and how poor mine was! If you are in a rut mentally, crippled by self doubt and low self esteem. This book could be a great tool for victories in your mind! I very much recommend having a mentor/counselor walk along side you while you read, I got way more out of the book when I had someone to talk it out with.

I am devouring Backus' books and cannot describe how thankful I am to have found his work. I love mindset work and psychology and his books are so good at balancing those with a grounded Christian faith. I may have to read all of his works...but which one next??

Wow, what can I say about this book. If you are dealing with anger, depression or anxiety in your life I believe this is an excellent book to read. I went through the material with a group of people. We met each Monday evening and discussed a section of the book. An all around awesome experience. Great concepts and tools are presented in the book. As with most things, the more you put into this book, the more you will get out of it. Even if you are mildly depressed, mildly angry or mildly anxious, this book could be a great help.

self analytical but "in your face" boldness. If you really want to search the inner recesses of your own heart then this is the book for you.
