The Ironing Man

Rate this book
[Cambridge Readers Level 3]

A young man appears at the door and seems to be the answer to Marina's wishes. She and her husband Tom have moved from London to a quiet village, and Marina is bored with her life, as it seems she does nothing but housework. One day she wishes for somebody to help with the ironing, and the 'ironing man' appears. Not only does he help Marina with the housework, but he also helps Tom realise just how important Marina is to him.

Of course, I'll feel lonely but I'll try to enjoy my life, make friends, visit somewhere,,,.

1: Cambridge Level3

2:4/25=60minutes, 4/26=45minutes

3: small village, London, ironing man, butterfly, detective, painting, three wishes

4:a)Detective said to Tom "I don't want any more money Tom, use it to take Marina on a really nice holiday!"
b)Before this scene, Tom worried about Marina has another boyfriend. So he asked detective to investigate around her. After investigation, he report Marina has another boyfriend. Tom was very disappointed. But this investigation was wrong. Tom became very exited and called detective. Then he said to Tom this passages. Before this scene, i thought this detective is foolish, but after this scene I thought he is very nice detectives.

5: This story has many characters. The Ironing Man is one of this character. At first, I didn't know why he came Marina's house. I thought he is suspicious person. But in the end of the story, I know he tried to remind Maria of what is the true love. Thenks to him, Marina can remenber true love. This story is categorized comedy, so I can't help laughing. But I am also impressed with this story.

2. The ironing man
7/4 47 min.
The Canterbury Tales
7/5 33 min.
Total: 80 min.

3. wife, list, ironing, train, notebook, detective, painting

4. What do you do in a train? -- I sleep, read book for this class, do my homework, listening to music by Walkman and use my cellphone. It takes about 2 hours to go to Chukyo University from my home. Therefore I always spend a lot of time in a train.

5. It was really a wonder story. Marina loves her husband, Tom, but she was left bored because she lives in the small village. She doesn't like ironing, so she wised someone does this instead of her. Then Ironing man appeared! He ironed a lot of shirt. I envy... I don't think I can marry like Tom, because he write good things and bad things in a day on the notebook everyday. It's not bad, but he decide the day is good day or bad day by the number of each things. It's unusual for me.

'For Marina, if there was one thing she did not understand about a men, and actually there were many things she did not understand about men, it was why they got so excited running after balls.'
When I read this sentence I laughed sooo hard because it's really true!!! I'm so agree with this and start to curious about it. It's sounds like all men are dog or something! And YES, we are all excited about the World Cup!!!

When I found this book in the library, I imagined the story of a man fighting against the enemy with metal suit, but it wasn't. The story was mysterious and just like the fantasy story. I liked at the beginning, but sometimes it was hard to follow the story because of some magical things happened around the character and I couldn't get it. But the writer explained the view and the situation minutely so it was helpful to follow the story.

4 'what happens if you have one good thing and seven bad things are really not important? Wouldn't that be a good day?'
I think so! It would be a good day if a very good thing happens to me.
5 it is good to spend usual days but it is boring. I'd like to spend wonderful days everyday if I could.
