The book Happy New Year Mallory by Laurie B. Friedman is about the main character Mallory, who planned to have a reunion with her friends but nothing goes right. Mallory and her next door neighbor, also her lifelong bff, plan the reunion together very well. All of the sudden, Mallory's stomach started to hurt about one week away from the reunion. Since it was so close, Mallory didn't tell her mom or dad about her stomach. The reunion came and the friends Carine, Taylor, and Mary Ann came to Mallory's house. Mallory's stomach ache got worse over the time. They played outside in the snow and when they were making a snow family, Mallory went inside and collapsed on the floor in pain trying not to cry. The other girls followed her inside and when they saw her on the floor, they yelled for her mom right away. Before they knew it, her mom was down the stairs standing over mallory. She called the doctor immediately and started asking Mallory questions. The doctor said Mallory has to go to the hospital right away. When they got to the hospital they figured out Mallory's appendix was going to burst and she had to have surgery that day witch was New Years Eve.

I liked this book a lot because it teaches you a life lesson. Also because I like the story line and I bet you will too!

I loved the Mallory series ever since I started to read chapter books at the age of 5+ and I still love this series and "Happy New Year, Mallory!" is one of my favorite books.New Years Eve is just around the corner and Mallorys camp friends are coming to Fern Falls for a reunion.

She cant wait! Mallory and Mary Ann have planned out every last detail for the perfect reunion, but Mallory doesnt count on having a bad stomachache that turns out to be appendicitis. Poor Mallory has to go to the hospital and misses out on the reunion and the New Years Eve Party.

Is this the beginning of the worst year ever, or will her friends find a way to save the day? This book is probably my favorite book in the Mallory series because of what a peppy and quirky book it is. The illustrations are just adorable.

Moreover(framing words), Mallory books are written in such a relatable way, it just makes the book more fun to read. Mallory and Mary Ann planned and worked and tried(Polysyndeton) to come up with the best New Year's party ever.

This book is great for young kids to read and it is a book that I definitely recommend you should take a look at even if you are older.

this book was awesome like all the others that i read the really sad part was when she barely had time to get together with her friends because she had something really (important) to do (they will tell you what was so important to mallory in the book).

Read this aloud with my 12yo who LOVES the Mallory series. We laughed so hard. Poor Mallory! Originally we were going to read it because my daughter was about to be admitted into the hospital for her own procedure but it got canceled so we read it all in one day instead! Fun read for young girls!

I thought it was so sad how mallory missed all the new years day food and games that her friends played.I was glad that in the end, they saved all of their treats to share with her.
