While the author is somewhat effusive in his praise for Gill, this is an important book to read to get a sketch of Gill's life from someone close to him. The book mainly focuses on his theological writings and disputes and only minimally touches on his family life. There is a brief section at the end which describes his pastoral ministry.
Hard read. The author treats John Gill as if all he had was a head and no heart. I dont know if that was all Gill had or if this was a fought of the author.
