A top secret project called UniSol began using the bodies of dead American soldiers for cybernetic regeneration. When Universal Soldier, Luc Devreux, goes on the run with a journalist, his old enemy from Vietnam tracks him down. Now a major film with Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren.
This is a book based on the film and it was one of my favourite short action movies growing up in the 80s and 90s. Its stars jean claude van damme (the most famous Belgian person I can think of) and Dolf Lundgren (the Russian Ivan drago from Rocky – “I must breaaak him”). It’s about a group of soldiers that get killed in Vietnam and then somehow get cryogenetically resurrected about 25 years later. Dolf and Jean claude had beef with each other before they died and now as they are resurrected as these superhuman Robocop-esque soldiers they have even more beef with each other and still hate each other. A very short book and I will unashamedly admit that this is one of the first casual page turners that I have read in years and I totally loved it. You could probably finish it off in a single afternoon.
Hello its me, again. I’m going to be honest with you, I read this book like 3 months ago so I can’t really remember some of it. But I will tell you what I can :). So, I would give it 4.5 stars because it had a nice story line and it kept me engaged 90% of the time, the other 10% is why it isn’t 5 stars. Any way it’s this book about these super soldiers, who were reborn and are basically part of this undercover American government thingy majig, where they are given this fluid every week or so and they become super strong. The main character is Luc, he is one of the super soldiers, BUT (big butt Hehe) he’s gone rogue, and he’s started to have memories of his past life, back when he was a soldier in the war of Vietnam. Then he finally meets… I’m not telling you. the BOOK will! So go ahead 11-16 yr olds and read this pog book

Up until page 200 it was going swimmingly. The narrative may not have translated that well from movie to book but so far it was a good read; action packed and full of twists and turns and plenty of thrills. Even with an ominiscent narrator there was still a mystery. Page 200 hundred though was Cheddar Gorge. It was too much cheese. The story started slipping and the dialogue made it sound like a carry on film but a really bad one. It meant nothing anymore. The ending was good even if the love story was unbelievable and a bit weird. On the whole a good easy read but not one that I would like to repeat.
