Got a bunch of kool books for my birthday!!!!

This is a children's book. I was in a hurry and just really liked the cover.. (I didn't flip through it or anything). It was in the teen section so that should have told me everything there, but I thought what the heck....there were so many new books out now teen, YA, types that are really interesting, divergent, city of immortals, vampire academy, TWILIGHT(hate it!!)so I told myself It looks somewhat kool might as well check it out...

It shows so much!!!! Where the history comes from, modern takes, faith and witches, superstition and more! Just a very full of info that tells you do much. It's about 90+ pages of info, pictures and a whole bunch of just kick ass stuff. Even though it was a kid book it was kool.

Este livro trás-nos toda a história dos Vampiros, um grande livro de Sally Regan, que nos leva a conhecer a verdadeira história destes seres míticos que nos apaixonam há já tantos séculos. Desde há muito tempo que os vampiros são adorados ou odiados pelos humanos e isso torna-os seres imortais não só como as lendas contam mas também na nossa imaginação e no nosso quotidiano.
Neste livro temos um percurso desde o mais grotesco ao mais apaixonante e belo dos vampiros, viajamos por vários países e continentes para conhecermos todos os mitos e lendas que existem sobre estas criaturas e também acabamos por viajar pela ficção e cinema.
Um excelente livro para os amantes dos habitantes da noite.

Not a fan of the sideways double pages throughout the book. No need to be twisting your book all around just to continue reading it. The over use of dark colors and multiple fonts is annoying as well.

Simple and fun book that describes vampire lore all the way back from the first myths to today’s romantic vampires. Only reason I have give it 4/5 stars is that I felt some things got mentioned quite a lot on repeat. Other than that, perfect book

For a while I have been avoiding vampire books. You know, there was so much hype behind a certain movie (that I will not mention) so I felt vampires were...overrated. But, the book cover caught my attention and I had to read it.
I have to say I am very impressed with this book. It gives a lot of information about vampires back then and how far they've come now. The illustrations are beautiful and some of the stories in here are quite creepy, for example, the article on Mercy Brown. I also liked the fact that the author mentioned Elizabeth Bathory. I've heard very little about her and always wanted to know more.

I recommend this book to anyone who has an obsession with vampires, whoever wants a quick read, and even if you had the same opinion of vampires as I did. Just give this book a chance :)

This title actually has some decent research behind it, especially in the features on blood drinkers and related creatures in other cultures and mythologies. Nice bits on the history of vampires and even vampire fiction. The layout is graphically appealing - lots of spooky color and images without being cluttered. My biggest beef with the book is the font. It is practically invisible against some of the dark backgrounds. While it looks cool, it is tiny and one of those fonts that is lighter and darker on various letters and also very vertical. I don't have a vision problem, but trying to read this tiny horrible font on a textured, colored background was brutal. What a shame, because the design and content was otherwise really good.

Fikk denne i bursdagsgave da jeg var rundt 12-13 år gammel. Den gang var jeg super fan av vampyrer og leste alle vampyr bøker jeg kom over. Må si jeg enda er fascinert over vampyrer, at de gjennom årene har forandret seg, at de aldri er like. Noen tåler ikke løk, mens andre glitrer i sola; andre brenner. Andre er slemme, mens noen er gode. Som 20–åring liker jeg fremdeles å lese karakterer (og skrive) som er overnaturlige. Kommer nok egentlig alltid til å ha en fascinasjon for vampyrer, eller? Tror det.
Denne boken husker jeg at jeg fikk store hjerte-øyne av. Den ble en soleklar favoritt og de små fakta og historiene var utrolig spennende. Liker fremdeles å bla igjennom boken, flere år senere.

Read cover to cover while sitting in the public library for 30 minutes. It's corny, but mildly entertaining. Silly graphics/illustrations, but some interesting text. The best part of the book was the "Historical Vampires" from different parts of the world - a lot of ancient societies had these creatures in their lore. Intriguing.

It is hard to find good vampire books now days since they all include teeny bopper vampires. This is a kids book and they introduce kids to those since they are trendy. I want my daughter to know the real vampires like Dracula and the history of vampires in fiction and history and this was good but not the best.

A pretty basic primer aimed at the young adult – for that it is a pretty good book. Frankly there are a lot of schlock writers out there churning out vampire fiction that could really use this book for some basics.

i really like this book it had all the reasons for different myths, different story's from other cultures and news clips, it really nicely covered the ways the myth of the vampire evolved from the beginning to know how they've changed in looks and media it was really interesting
