Freedom Valley #2

Baked Inn Love

Rate this book
Friend’s to lovers, fake marriage, epic road trip, millionaire, single parent, different worlds.

Things have been rough for frazzled single-mom Allie. The only bright light in her life is her son, four-year-old Caleb, who’s now healthy after a lifetime of being chronically ill. She finally feels like she can breathe again. Until she’s unexpectedly fired from her job. On top of that, Caleb’s previously absent father decides he wants to fight Allie for custody. And if she can’t prove she can support herself, he might just win custody of Caleb. Based in San Diego, with her only support system in Freedom Valley, New Hampshire, Allie needs to find a way to move herself and Caleb across the country to their family inn.

Enter Logan Nolan, a handsome, successful literary agent. The best friend of her brother’s fiance, Beth, Logan comes from an extremely wealthy, not-so-great family in Canada that he’s estranged from. When Beth begs him to help bring Allie and Caleb home, he can’t say no.

After an awkward start, they embark on an epic cross-country road trip in a moving truck, where they become fast friends and realize they each have something to offer the other. A marriage of convenience that could never be real for one of them.

Once the shock of their spontaneous marriage wears off with the family, Allie and Logan settle into a new life in Freedom Valley. Allie, who’s always been a passionate baker, starts her own business, and Logan learns how to balance a busy career and the new family they’re pretending to be.

Logan never saw himself as a family man, but as he spends more time with Allie and Caleb and gets to know them better, he wonders if his resistance to being a parent before has anything to do with poor role models and that maybe having a family of his own is something he might actually desire after all. As for Allie, she’s always gotten by on her own, but with Logan around, she’s starting to realize maybe this make-believe temporary life she’s building with this new friend is something she may want to be permanent, especially as Caleb’s father’s efforts to take his son intensify.

Will Allie and Logan realize and give in to their true feelings for each other and let love carry them through?

Baked Inn Love is a complete stand-alone and can be read without reading any of the other books, but if you prefer to read in order, start with Falling Inn Love as the characters and families are connected.

I only jipped that .25 bc.. idk I wanted her BD’s wife to be a villain and then she said sorry, like excuse me maam I was picturing you as an ugly old hag, don’t go acting nice.

Anyway, I had never actually read anything by this author before. However, I was given an ARC for this and honestly I had read way too much dark romance lately and needed a good lighthearted wholesome romance and this hit all the marks.

It hit basically every popular romance trope. Forced Proximity, Single Parent, Millionaire, Fake Relationship etc and they all tied in together really well. Honestly, I’d compare the book to a Lucy Score RomCom but a little more wholesome.

This is book 2 in the series, however, you don’t need to read book 1 to read this one - I have not read book 1 yet and there was no confusion or missing pieces bc of it. I am going to read book 1 though bc I’m 99% sure it’ll be about the brother of the female mc in this one, and I really enjoyed him and his fiancé as side characters in this book.

I absolutely adored this strangers to friends to lovers, dual POV, roadtrip slash marriage of convenience romance between a single mom and a secret millionaire book publicist! I was able to listen to an early audio copy and I really enjoyed the narration by Keira Stevens and Thomas Locklear.

This is the second book in a series and does work as a standalone but you'll enjoy it even more after reading the first book as this is very much a book about family connections and the friends who show up when times get tough. Much thanks to the author and Homecooked books for an advance audio copy in exchange for my honest review!

PS I dare you to read this book and not want to go out and devour coffee and a cinnamon roll right away.

I received an ARC of this book and I’m so happy I did! This book is too cute and you’ll be falling inn love with the Harper Family!
This has all the great tropes: friends to lovers, cross country road trip, single bed, ex drama, etc.
Logan is the ideal kind, supportive and caring man. Allie is strong, resilient, innovative and full of love.
I loved these two. I can’t wait for the next trip to Freedom Valley!!

Allie has had a hard time. After her son’s father and his family ignored him for years, even when he needed a kidney to survive, he’s finally getting better since her brother Evan donated one of his. But then she gets fired from her job. Running out of money, she wants to go home to New Hampshire. Her mother comes and takes Caleb home and Beth’s friend Logan agrees to drive across country with her and her possessions. But when she finds out that her ex has decided to try to take Caleb from her, she may have to take desperate measures.
So far I noticed that each book has a bad guy who is a real scum bag. But in this one, there actually were two. Chris, the ex, and Logan’s father. It was a toss up who I disliked most.
I enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to everyone.

I loved this book . It was a really good pace and had lovable characters. Allie’s ex never wanted anything to do with their son until his new wife can’t get pregnant but a friend her brothers fiancé agrees to help to make a stronger 2 parent front . I would recommend this to anyone who loves small town romance and definitely on my reread list.

I am falling in Love with the Freedom Valley series!!!
I loved book two even more than the first book! this book is a friend's to lovers and a road trip who doesn't love road trips. one of my favorite things about this book is that it is not a second chance romance like a lot of road trip so it books are, so they are not spending the entire trip in tension filled angst. It gets to be a fun road trip with really cute moments Logan is so observant and knows just how to ease Allies mind when her Ex Tries to stop her from moving across the country.

These books are like cake I'm always going to want another slice and I cannot wait to read All Inn Thyme!!!

I love how this book shows the reality of being a single mother. Her family helping her with it is so amazing,

I definitely enjoyed this one more than I did book one! Allie and Logan were so adorable, and I was such a sucker for their plot. The main tropes include forced proximity and fake marriage. Allie is a single mom, and Logan is helping her A) move across the country so her son can grow up with family and B) fight off a custody battle with her deadbeat ex. In my opinion, this book wasn't as repetitive as the first book was (Beth was constantly alluding to her trauma, but it was set up to be the big reveal... and it actually just felt a little predictable). In this book though, there isn't some crazy/predictable reveal, and the custody battle definitely keeps the plot moving. I liked that this one had forward motion (plot wise, and in terms of character development too) rather than feeling a little stuck. Overall, definitely an improvement from book 1!

If you are looking for a fun, friends to lovers, road trip book, this is your book. I’m a sucker for a cute Hallmark movie, and this book was totally giving off those vibes. Once I started reading this book, I honestly couldn’t put it down. It grabs your attention from the very beginning and has you swooning until the end. I loved the characters, the story, and everything in between. I highly suggest adding this book to your TBR as soon as possible.

I won an ARC of Baked Inn Love and I couldn’t put this book down today! I never thought I’d be one for holiday romances, yet here we are! I instantly fell in love with Allie’s and Logan’s stories and simply couldn’t put this down.

I love how this book is a part of a series, yet it’s a stand alone. However, the characters are very like-able so I will definitely be checking out the other book in this series, Falling Inn Love, and, when it comes out, All Inn Thyme.

There was not one single thing I didn’t love about Logan and Allie. Allie was a strong independent woman but not so prideful that she didn’t want and need a good support system. She was smart, a wonderful mom and so deserving of love and her dreams taking flight. Logan was such a sweetheart I mean truly he was a dream. A smart successful man with a heart of gold. He’s never seen himself settled down. Having the worst parents as role models he never imagined being a dad or a family man but he recognized right away that he felt a deep connection to not only Allie but to Caleb as well. He wanted to take care of them he wanted to be apart of their lives. They had such wonderful chemistry, and I loved how easily they fell into a relationship.

Keira Stevens and Thomas Locklear are newer to me narrators and I think they did such a wonderful job with these characters.

Baked Inn Love is a Heartwarming, heartfelt journey about a woman who has had the world on her shoulders and a man who wants to take some of that weight. It’s about the power of loyalty and family and sacrifice. And finding love when you least expect it. There are laughs and tears and angst and it was an overall joy to listen to

I will admit that I hadn't read any of Erin Branscom's work before. I haven't even read the first book in the Freedom Valley series, Falling Inn Love. I was lucky enough to win a copy ARC for Baked Inn Love and in my excitement I started reading it right away. I had no idea that 4 and a half hours later I would be finishing the book. I am usually a dark romance reader and have been lost in my dark and weird section for months. Baked Inn Love was simply refreshing and I immediately fell in love with Logan and Allie. I even had something in my eye at the end... damn allergies caused a tearing effect in both eyes. This is generally not my type of romance book but I was very pleasantly surprised and I am now an instant fan of Branscom. Freedom Valley gave me Stars Hollow vibes and I am eager to read the first book in the series. Thank you for the ARC and introducing me to your work!! I look forward to reading more of your work! I can't wait to read Beth and Evan's story.

OHEMGEE. When i say i adore this book. 😍

As a single mom, I have a HUGE soft spot for single mom romances, specially when the MC is so relatable. Allie is what all moms, single or not, can relate too. Her entire world is Caleb, her son, and she will work tirelessly, nonstop for her son. If that isn’t a mom, I don’t know what is.

Erin does an outstanding job at following Allie and Logan through their love story without making the storyline cheesy or unbelievable.

Allie is relatable, strong and a whole bad ass. I was mad at so many people in Allie’s life throughout this book, and the story is so real. Her boss for letting her go because of her “situation” to Logan’s father and sister Sarah.. for existing? and Chris and his family… lord they’re awful too.

Logan is so swoon worthy. The way he immediately fell in love with how much Allie loved her son had me swooning.

I adored Falling Inn Love, but Baked Inn Love was even better. I read it in 1 sit and immediately need book 3!

You’ll find:
-Formed Proximity
-Friends to Lovers
-Fake Marriage
-Found Family
- He Falls First HARD
-Single Mom MC

Thank you so much to Erin for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This is my second read by Erin Branscom and I enjoyed it so much! This was forced proximity, single parent, millionaire, fake relationship, road trip, strangers to friends to lovers, romantic comedy. This is the second book in the series and even though I’ve read the first book in the series Baked Inn Love can be read as a standalone.

This was a sweet story and I loved Logan’s character. The way he supported Allie even when he barely knew her, made her laugh, and helped her come out of her comfort zone spoke about his character in more ways than one. Allie’s character was strong, relatable, and such an inspiration. This book was so cute and I loved all of the vibes of this book.

(Audio Review)
I’m such a sucker for cutesy, small-town, cozy romance books. And after reading the first book earlier this month, I just couldn’t wait to get unto the next book! Book 2 of the Freedom Valley series did not disappoint. Baked Inn Love provided me with the feels that I needed; it gave me strangers-to-friend’s-to-lovers, fake marriage/marriage of convenience, road trip, single parent, and millionaire love interest all wrapped nicely into a cutesy, small-town, cozy romance book that I mentioned I love! It was exactly the vibes that I needed!

The story is about out mains single mom Allie and Logan. Things were not going so well for Allie and her son for a long time due to him battling a life-long illness, but after he is finally healthy, Allie is ready for new beginnings. But after she gets fired from her job, she decides to move back to her hometown of Freedom Valley. Enter, Logan. Logan is the best friend of the heroine from the first book, and she asks Logan to help drive Alley back to Freedom Valley.

What I especially loved about this book was the road trip aspect. I loved seeing our characters get to know each other as they embarked on the trip and saw and stopped at soo many different places. It was such a great adventure for them. What could have been such an awkward trip turned out to be soo fun with so many cute moments. I also loved seeing some of the characters from the first book make an appearance.

As with the first book, it was giving Hallmark and Gilmore Girls vibes. Not as much as in that book, but those vibes are still present in this book. Overall, this was soo cute and it made me feel warm inside just reading this!

I listened to the audio version of this book. Narrated by Keira Stevens and Thomas Locklear, they were amazing! The voices for the characters were excellent! And the story was made even better with their narration!

Read it you like:
❥ Friends to Lovers
❥ Single Mom
❥ Forced proximity
❥ Traveling cross country
❥ Hallmark movie vibes
❥ Quaint hotels and small town
❥ Reunited and found family

This is the second book in Branscom’s Freedom Valley series (but reads as a stand-alone) and did not disappoint! Such a cute novel that I flew through. It follows Allie who is a single mom of son Caleb who’s had some serious medical conditions that has forced Allie to stay in California. When an opportunity arises that allows her to move back home to Freedom Valley, New Hampshire she’s more than elated to make the move.
During her road trip with Logan who is a friend of her brothers, she rediscovers herself while catching feelings for Logan. I enjoyed this book so much!

One thing I was turned off by was the male MC’s female voice. It was a bit cringy and I tended to speed through those portions.

Thank you @homecookedbookpromos for this audio version of this book!

Book 2 of the series but it stands alone. Anything you need to know from the previous book is provided, though you will get more emotional impact if you read in order.

Allie has been living in California away from her family in New Hampshire. She's been on her own providing for her 4 year old son through some really rough times. She's now hit circumstances where it makes the most sense for her to be with her family again. But that means driving all her stuff across the country.

Logan is a friend of the family in New Hampshire, the literary agent of her brother's girlfriend. He agrees to help and accompany Allie on her journey, making sure she gets where she's going safely. Along the way he wants to make sure she reconnects with "Allie", not Caleb's mom, to discover what makes her happy.

Throughout their journey, additional obstacles are thrown at them and they react in ways that make them happy in the moment, but might come back to bite them in the butt later.
- Deadbeat dad wanting his son out of nowhere
- Marriage of Convenience
- Wealthy Family interference
- Self doubt and worth, risk and reward, all against the question of "Is it real?"

The audiobook was performed by Keira Stevens and Thomas Locklear. They both bring the characters to life really well. Thomas's base narration as Logan is so smooth and warm I wanted to wrap myself up in it like a blanket. But when Keira takes on all of Allie's emotional extremes, it was a fabulous. The emotional impact in the climax of the story really hit me and I was very teary.

I requested and was provided with an advance copy of the audiobook. These are my honest opinions.

If you’re looking for an easy feel good read, this is it. I read this book in a day!

It has friends to lovers, forced proximity, one bed, single parent, millionaire and… insta love.

And let that be the main reason this doesn’t get more stars from me. Because the whole book was soooo feel good, everything was perfect about the MC’s. She doesn’t excel in just 1 thing, no she excels in practically everything she does.

Okay the way I’m putting it, it seems like I didn’t enjoy reading this at all. Which isn’t the case, to be clear. I did like this book! It’s just that some things were a little too unbelievable, for example the custody battle… I don’t believe there really was a ‘high’ chance that she’d really lose her kid. Not with the background they gave the biological father and their situation.

Anyway, if you’re into Hallmark movies, this book is totally up your alley. And in the end, I also really enjoyed reading this book - if I’m being honest.

Such a cute fast read! I received an Arc of this book which is the second in the series but can be read as a stand alone.
It reads exactly like a hallmark movie and was so fun I didn’t want to put it down. It has a road trip, baking, singing, holidays, family drama, a custody battle and proof that love wins.
Can’t wait to go back and read the first one and then the next when it becomes available.

Fantastic Story & Narration🎧Captivating & Heartfelt!

Baked in Love
Freedom Valley, Book 2
By: Erin Branscom
Narrated by: Thomas Locklear, Kiera Stevens

Erin Branscom pens another wonderful novel set in her “Freedom Valley” series, and I loved it as much as I loved the first book, “Falling Inn Love”. Each book in the series features different lead characters and stands on their own, though some characters are connected and appear in each other’s books, but everything you need to know about them in detailed in the story. That said, it is beneficial to know the characters’ backstories, it adds more depth, and seeing them again is like seeing an old friend. Allie’s ex-husband wanted nothing to do with her or their son, Caleb, even ignored pleas for help when Caleb was seriously ill and needed help. When Allie loses her job, she has no reason or desire to stay in California so is going to return home to her family in Freedom Valley, with plans to start her own business selling baked goods. She doesn’t want to drive cross-country with her son and their belongings in tow, so Beth volunteers her friend Logan to accompany her on a road trip and her son will fly home with her mom. Logan only went along with this trip because Beth promised to do a promo for her book, an interview, something she wanted no part of before. Logan shows up and winds up being a tremendous help with getting things done, the two got along well and was all set for the cross-country road trip. It was great to watch these two get to know each other. I thought they were great together and for each other. While on the road she hears from her ex, who has had a sudden change of heart regarding their son and is going to take her to court, which scares her, but Logan offers to help her fight him and when his lawyer friend suggests what they should do, he is on board. I loved how everything played out in this wonderfully written and plotted story, it has the perfect balance of drama, heartwarming charm, heartfelt emotions and romance. Erin Branscom, thank you for another fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride, I loved spending time with the characters of Freedom Valley, one of my favorite places to visit.

🎧📚🎧 And for the amazing narration, Erin Branscom cast the perfect narrators to bring her characters and story to life. Thomas Locklear and Kiera Stevens did a fabulous job portraying these characters and did so with a complete understanding of who they were, giving each a voice that fit their persona and was believable in every role they played. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance and had you feeling every single one. These versatile voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another wonderful listen.

The story opens with Allie being fired from her soul-sucking job. She’s stayed at the job for the health insurance, as she’s a single mom of Caleb who has a childhood disease and underwent a kidney transplant recently. She decides it’s time to move from California back home to her family’s inn in New Hampshire. It’s fortunate that a sexy friend of the family is able to road trip with Allie across the country and help move her to NH.

Baked Inn Love is a delightful romance from start to end. The entire story has small town vibes, first due to the close quarters / forced proximity of the road trip, and then second, arriving at Allie’s family’s inn in picturesque New Hampshire. Both Allie and Logan are wonderful people that I’d love to know. Allie is kind, and I like that she doesn’t blame anyone or anything for the rough hand she’s been dealt. I completely appreciate Allie’s struggle to want to be independent but realizing she’s not able to do it on her own and it’s okay to rely on others.

Overall, I really enjoyed the story. I like how the couple got to know one another as they plan the road trip and then begin the journey. It’s nice to see they have a lot in common and really gel with one another right from the get go. I enjoy how the pair starts with an attraction and zero expectations or want for anything, but as they get to know one another, become good friends. They genuinely like each other, which grows the more time they spend together.

Along the way, Allie gets some troubling news from the absentee father of her baby. This takes the story up a whole level of emotional intensity. I was so worried for Allie. But through it all, Logan remains genuine and such a great guy. He struggles with the idea that he’s not meant for marriage and a family, but after spending time with Allie and Caleb, Logan realizes he just wasn’t ready for those things until he met the right person.

Baked Inn Love is nearly a perfect read, however, I got a bit upset with Allie and her actions when she’s confronted with some news that seemingly changes things between her and Logan. She completely overreacts and does a couple things that are contrary to her character. I was annoyed, but not for very long.

Narration: The story is shared via the alternating first person POVs of Allie and Logan, with Keira Stevens performing Allie’s POVs and Thomas Locklear performing Logan’s POVs. KS does a fantastic job all around. Her narrator/Allie is upbeat and joyful like the young and optimistic character. She alters her dialogue for gender and age. Her males are deep and her Caleb sounds like a kid, not an adult pretending to be a kid. TL has a very deep voice which fits Logan perfectly. All of his male chapters sound great. And while TL adjusts the dialogue for gender and age, his female voices are not my favorite. His females are higher pitched and a good effort, but it’s clearly a man pretending to be a woman.

In the end, I had a lot of fun joining Allie and Logan on their journey, and I am excited to listen to more tales from Freedom Valley.

My Ratings:
Story: A-/B+
Narration: B

This book took me by surprise, it was so addictive that I finished it in one day.

The story follows Allie Harper, Caleb's single mom who is struggling financially because her little one is sick and in addition to this she is fired from her job, so she decides to return to New Hampshire with her family. This is where Logan comes in, who is a friend of the family and does them the favor of taking Allie from California to New Hampshire since he will be spending a few weeks with them as well. Many things happen on that road trip, but the most that happens is the formation of their friendship, and how they both give each other the freedom to have fun.

I don't know what it was about this book that from the beginning I couldn't stop reading it, I was so entertained that I kept reading until I finished it and normally it takes me a couple of days to read a book, I hope that this will convince you to read it. 🤭😂

This book was so sweet, I loved Allie's entire family and seeing how they supported her through everything that was going on. And Logan? Logan is perfect, seeing how he supported Allie even when he didn't know her, seeing how he made her laugh and pushed her out of her comfort zone was amazing. Logan's sister was amazing too. Honestly, this book seemed beautiful to me, and seeing all the support and affection that this family had was super nice.

Read if you like:
-single mom
-forced proximity
-epic road trip
-strangers to friends to lovers
-fake marriage
-one bed
-different worlds
-found family
-he’s secretly millionaire
-music
-rediscover yourself and enjoy the little things
-slow burn

This book is the first I've read by this author and I'm very grateful to have received an ARC from her, this is the second book in the "Freedom Valley" series, but it can be read as standalone although the characters interconnect.

P.S. I hated Caleb's dad and part of Logan's family :)

Baked Inn Love is the 2nd book in the Freedom Valley series. This small town book is full of fun tropes like strangers to friends to lovers, road trip forced proximity, single independent mom with a dash of marriage of convenience. And of course, lots of baking!

It was so fun to see main characters Allie and Logan get to know each other as they travelled across the country. From the very beginning Logan can see that Allie needs some encouragement to remember what things in life bring her joy, after only focusing on her sick child. She really struggles with negative self talk about where she is in her life. Logan is a workaholic and has some family issues that Allie is really able to support him through.
It is a very sweet romance with just a little bit of spice thrown in. There is a third act break up which I felt could have been handled a little differently, but overall I enjoyed the storytelling, characters funny banter and the funny novelty T-shirts.
I listened to this on audio and the new to me, narrators were able to bring a great emotional element to the story. Keira Stevens was the perfect Allie! Thomas Locklear did a great Logan but I found his female voice a bit off putting.
Overall though I am looking forward to the next book in the series because small town, found family romances just make me happy!
I was sent a free audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

“A lot can change when you open your heart.”

He’s doing a favor for his friend. She’s trying to get home to start fresh. What starts as a quick road trip coast to coast begins the journey of a lifetime. Baked Inn Love is a sweet road trip Romcom. More lighthearted than book one, Baked Inn Love is a charming reminder that love can be found when you least expect it. Logan is a kind, compassionate, charismatic literary agent. Allie is a down on her luck single mom looking to build a better, more fulfilling life for herself and her son, Caleb. I liked the instant rapport Logan and Allie had, as well as Logan and Caleb. I loved the two-way rescue throughout their trip; they draw out qualities in each other that make them shine. While Logan does things to bolster Allie’s confidence and self-worth, she in turn helps Logan see past his toxic family to find his value. I always find it endearing when a romance hero is open and vulnerable with the heroine, even if it takes him a little while to voice his feelings. Though not overly emotional, Allie and Logan have an easy-going and comfortable connection that allows them to confide in each other. It was lovely to get a glimpse of Beth & Evan’s continued happiness. The way Allie’s family welcomed Logan was heartwarming. If you like a fun, low-steam, heartfelt romance, add Baked Inn Love to your TBR.

Thomas Locklear and Keira Stevens are new-to-me narrators. I enjoyed their performances. They matched well in style and pacing. At times I struggled with Thomas’ voice for female characters, but his characterization of Logan was wonderful. His voice has a gravelly, unwavering, sultry tone that fits Logan. Keira gave a delightful performance as Allie throughout her blossoming character arc. Baked Inn Love is an endearing love story and fun audiobook.

Logan agrees to help Allie move across the country, back to her hometown, because he owed his best friend a favor. With the trip being so long, they have many stops along the way and have a lot of time to get to know each other. On the trip, Allie's ex, the father of her child, who has been out of her life for years, reaches out to her and tells her he wants custody of their son. Allie and Logan agree to get married to show the court that they are able to better provide for her child than her ex. Logan doesn't want to be a father or a family man, so a fake marriage works out for him, right?

Allie and Logan are an adorable couple you will find yourself rooting for before they even start their trip. Logan brings out a side of Allie that seems to have been hidden for a while and you can see her start to open up to Logan along the way. We also get to see why Logan feels he can't provide Allie with what her and her son need. Once they arrive back to Allie's hometown and the inn her family runs, Logan gets to see how special this place really is to Allie.

Baked Inn Love is book two of Erin Branscom's Freedom Valley series. It's super cute and a quick, clean listen. Kiera Stevens and Thomas Locklear narrated this book and did a great job at bringing Allie and Logan to life!

THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU IF: You love cute and clean romances with some family drama and a unique HEA.

This book started with a cross country road trip with forced proximity and a single mom getting a little time to find herself after dedicating her life completely to her ill son. I was thrilled with the beginning. I adored that this was Ali’s chance to breathe a little! The pit stops were so fun.

But then… along came insta-love. And a really strange plot point about an absent family wanting a child they’ve never laid eyes on before. And a marriage of convenience but with real-insta love. And a magic money man who has known her for less than a week but wants to give her all his money. 😬

I always want to give authors more than one chance even if I just feel okay about their first book. In this case I was especially excited by the premise because it seemed so much happier than the first in the series. But ultimately it had one too many tropes and unbelievable plot points for me.

I wanted more road trip and time to fall in love. Without that the chemistry just wasn’t there.

However, even though this book wasn’t for me, the audiobook narrators were fantastic and did a great job bringing the characters to life.

3.5⭐️ I liked this! I think I liked it a little more than the first in the series.

Allie is a single mom to a sick little boy who recently had surgery and just lost her job. She lives in California while her whole family lives in New Hampshire. Her brothers girlfriend makes a deal with her best friend Logan to drive cross country back to New Hampshire with Allie so she can move home. They had never met before but immediately hit it off and spend a week driving together, making lots of stops along the way to help Allie remember what she enjoys after being engulfed in motherhood.

I related to Allie’s character a lot. Logan is sweet as pie and so supportive of her. We have sunshine/sunshine, marriage of convenience, dysfunctional family, insta-love, forced proximity, secret millionaire. The insta love part is never my fave, but the rest of it I really enjoyed! The custody battle plot point was hard to listen to as a parent, her baby daddy is a real piece of work, same with Logan’s family🤪 Both the audio narrators were great - I had never listened to anything by either of these narrators before but I’ll definitely be looking for more by Thomas Locklear cause his voice is great!

I received the audiobook version in exchange for an honest review ☺️

I enjoyed this storyline so much! I picked it up knowing that it was a single mom road trip romance where the male main character was bribed into driving the female character across the country to help move her home as a favor to a friend, and that I really should have read book 1 first… but what this truly is, is a completely complicated and twisted road trip followed by a fake marriage, terrible ex, custody issue, a ton of heart, and found family that was just absolutely brilliant!!

And - I absolutely have to go back to the first book to get the full story of Evan and Beth! They both had huge roles in this story and now I have their future, so I need to get their background.

Allie and Caleb are a great team - until she loses her job, needs to bake up a storm to pay to move them across the country, back to her family Inn (still not sure exactly how she’ll do it), when her brother and his new wife send her literary agent Logan as a favor to help drive, while her mom flies little Caleb (with his health so poor, the long drive won’t be good for him).

They bond along the way, stop to meet his sisters, and make a plan to get fake married when Caleb’s father, for the first time, decides he’s not just ready to meet his son (for the first time), but just out-right take him. Everyone rallies and the troops come together and plans are formed to keep Allie and Caleb together, and perpetual bachelor Logan realizes that just maybe having this fake little life isn’t so bad…

Audio - both narrators were brand new voices to me. I quite liked Keira Stevens. Very good job! Thomas Locklear had a very strong male voice… such a shame about when he tried to voice the female characters… he would do well on duet style narration (when the female narrators do all the female lines)! Ouch. Otherwise, his voice was good when not trying to imitate a woman (should really, really work on that, bud).

I definitely recommend this one! I’m going back to book one now, and looking forward to book 3 coming end of March, and 4 end of June!!

I received an advance listen copy from the author and Home Cooked Books PR, and this is my honest review and feedback.

Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book was so sweet and had me in tears at the end! I was pulled in immediately and finished the majority of it on my own road trip back home from vacation! Thank you SO much Erin for allowing me to read your beautiful novel and I cannot wait to read the rest of the Freedom Valley series!!

I adored the first book and this is a great addition to this series. So many amazing tropes wrapped into this one beautiful love story - cross country road trip, opposites attract, single mom, fake marriage and instant attraction. Erin gives us amazing characters who are a bit down on their luck and throws in an amazing hero to help them work through their troubles.

Allie is a struggling single mom who is doing her best - she is strong, determined and creative in order to support her and her son.

Logan is the ideal man who has a big heart, work focused and is very accommodating.

During their unexpected trip they find fun and exciting g adventure and help one another become better people. They face some challenges along the way but are determined to see them through…together.

Towards the end you wanted to shake both of them and say get your $&@t together, open your eyes and realize what’s in front of you! Lol

Thomas Locklear and Keira Stevens did a great job on the narration - they are new to me narrators but would definitely listen to them again. They did a great job of bringing out all the emotions for all the characters. I enjoy audiobooks because they bring a different dimension to the story.
