Into The Woods by K.C. Enders ⭐⭐⭐✨🌶️🌶️ Standalone * Dark Romance * Winnie-the-Pooh Retelling * Virgin FMC * Mafia * Human Auction * Drugs * Child Neglect * 203 pages * 🎧5h59
I did this one via audio, narrated by Allie Martina and Gideon Frost. Allie brought a gentle, innocent quality to Winnie’s voice, while Gideon delivered that cold, emotionless, yet somehow still full of emotion in a tone that fit Christopher perfectly.
I’m a big fan of retellings and always curious to see how an author will weave fairytale elements into a darker narrative. This one was especially intriguing, a dark mafia retelling of "Winnie the Pooh." Finding retellings based on less commonly used stories always hits a little differently.
Now, know that this is absolutely a dark romance set in France? We have our hero, or rather, our possessive, obsessed villain; Christophe, and our FMC is Winnie L'Ourson. We also get side characters like Truie Cochonette for Piglet(clearly using two French pig terms as a name), Teague for Tigger, and the butleray have been owl? There may have been a few subtler references, but those were the ones that stood out most to me.
Be aware: there is a human auction and it plays a major role in the story. If that’s a trigger, this is definitely one to skip as it’s not a scene you can easily bypass.
The book definitely lands the dark aspects of dark romance and was interesting enough to follow, though nothing felt particularly new. Every plot thread was fairly predictable from the start. Honestly, the Winnie-the-Pooh elements were what kept me invested waiting to catch the next reference woven into the story.
I loved me a good dark romance with a broody morally gray man! I loved the aspects of the story and the background of Winnie and her lifestyle. I do, although, feel that the background for Christophe was missing. We got bits and pieces but I feel like that was all. So it was hard to fully understand why he was doing what he was doing. As a reader, we could tell that Christophe loved Winnie, but he did things that made that love question—more like lust. Overall, it was a good book and i definitely zoomed through it, just wish i had a little more character background to better understand our MMC or a little more “touch her and I’ll k*ll you” vibes—which we did get, but that’s after he put Winnie in harms way himself!
KC Enders spins a literary tale of fantasy of old familiar friends. Enders’ character development is standing on business. Christophe has been groomed since birth to take over the “family business”. Winnie is “lost in the woods” in so many ways. Fate would bring these two together, their worlds clashing ironically together. Childhood games turn into messy, fiery adulting. It’s a little bit dark and a whole lot of lightening between these two characters. You soon forget this is a spin on a classic, and come to realize they may just burn the whole damn woods down! Enders has done it again, she does not disappoint! 5 sizzling stars for Into The Woods🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠
Winnie the Pooh dark Mafia retelling….yes lol do I want to read what happens in the next book yes lol this is a 3.5 star rage for me, it’s a very typical dark romance the spice was at about a 2 chilis 🌶️🌶️
for me the story line was well balanced but minimal would have liked more details in the back story and ins and outs of the mafia. Christophe is giving cold and aloof but secretly obsessed with the FMC Winnie lol anyways I had a good time reading it. It was a quick read and solid story line to binge on a Sunday
I got this in a blind date with a book set and it was a very easy read. I didnt put it down. I dont understand the Winnie The Pooh retelling. I see it more as a beauty and the beast retelling. but overall was great. however I would love to know more of tru and teagues story!

Into the Woods is an atmospheric dark-fairytale reimagining of the “Hundred Acre Wood” Winnie The Pooh tale with “Christopher Robin” grown up to become a possessive MMC mafia king! This story follows Winnie & Christophe, who met as children in the forest and built a strong, magical bond. But life pulled them apart. Years later, their paths collide again, but nothing is as sweet or innocent as it once was.
Winnie is a complex, compelling protagonist. Even with her vulnerabilities and past scars, she’s fiercely resilient and determined. Her character arc is beautifully illustrated, as she reclaims part of herself in the story. Christophe is opposite in many ways—once an innocent man, he becomes shaped by wrongdoings, power hunger, & ruthless ambition. Their relationship is the emotional heart of the novel, as it evolves from childhood friends to enemies to lovers, giving readers chemistry, high-stakes danger, & emotionally charged interactions!
The pacing is slow-burn as character backstories are slowly revealed through flashbacks & preset-day dialogue. By the midsection, the story picks up in action/intensity & becomes unpredictable—just when you think the characters might reconcile, buried secrets surface. The ending is emotional & gives just enough resolution to feel cathartic while leaving questions unanswered & sets up for a possible exciting sequel!
If this sounds intriguing, grab a copy, or for a more immersive experience, mark your calendars for the audio coming soon!
NARRATION (4.5⭐️): The audiobook is performed by Allie Martina & Gideon Frost. Martina portrays Winnie with a soft, intimate voice that conveys both her vulnerability & resilience. Frost uses a strong, rugged voice to bring Christophe to life in a dynamic performance that shows the character’s harshness & tenderness. Together, their contrasting performances draw listeners in & elevate the story with emotional depth & atmospheric suspense!
💬QOTD: Last new author/book you read?‼️⁉️Fave “Winnie The Pooh” character & why?‼️⁉️PT: “Into the woods..”
Into the Woods by KC Enders is a compelling and dark romance that provides a captivating, twisted spin on a classic tale. Narrated effectively by Allie Martina and Gideon Frost, the audiobook successfully conveys the story's necessary depth, darkness, and emotion.
The narrative introduces a morally gray world where childhood games devolve into messy, fiery adulthood. Winnie finds herself "lost in the woods" in more ways than one, coming from a poor and complicated background. Her world violently clashes with that of Christophe, who was groomed since birth to take over a world "full of power and sin"—a dark "family business." Fate brings these two together across the hundred acres of history that once separated them.
While Enders excels at character development, providing a clear background on Winnie and her complex lifestyle, the information provided for Christophe is notably fragmented. Although the intense attraction between them is immediately palpable, leading to a lot of fiery chemistry, the reader only receives bits and pieces of his history. This makes it difficult to fully grasp the motivation behind his actions, which often cast doubt on whether his intense feelings for Winnie are driven by genuine love or purely by lust.
The plot features a blend of dark romance and fantasy elements, quickly drawing the reader in. However, the reader may occasionally question Christophe's supposed love, particularly since any "touch her and I’ll kill you" protective moments only fully surface after he himself has placed Winnie in harm's way. Despite a slight desire for more depth in the main male character's backstory and a few more overtly possessive moments, this is a highly engaging and fast-paced read. Enders successfully creates a world where the two main characters might just burn the whole damn woods down.

When Honey Turns to Blood: A Dark Mafia Twist on Winnie the Pooh That Will Blow Your Mind Forget the Hundred Acre Wood, sunshine, and gentle honey hunts. Someone has dared to reimagine Winnie-the-Pooh in a way that is as unexpected as it is captivating: a dark mafia story. And let me tell you, the result is mind-blowing.
I'll admit, the premise sounded absurd. Could anyone really pull off a gritty, crime-ridden narrative centered around characters we associate with childhood innocence? The answer, surprisingly, is a resounding yes. This author has taken a massive swing, and they've knocked it out of the park.
What truly impressed me was the author's ability to maintain a sense of suspense despite the inherent familiarity of the characters. I walked into this expecting a predictable narrative, and while I thought I had a good grasp of the ending early on, I was constantly surprised by the twists and turns. The author masterfully weaves in betrayals, alliances, and moments of shocking violence that kept me eagerly turning the pages. It's a testament to their skill that they could take a well-known story and inject it with such potent unpredictability.
Now, having thoroughly enjoyed the unsettling and captivating world of "Pooh and Christope," I am absolutely buzzing with anticipation for the continuation, "Piglet and Tigers." The prospect of seeing Piglet's anxieties manifested within this criminal underworld, and the chaotic energy of Tigger unleashed, is incredibly exciting.
If you're looking for a unique and daring read that will challenge your expectations and leave you utterly captivated, look no further. Prepare to have your childhood memories shattered and reimagined in the most unexpected, and strangely delightful, way. Just be warned, after reading this, you'll never look at Winnie-the-Pooh the same way again.
Book Review: Into The Woods by KC Enders Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ This review may contain minor spoilers.
Into the Woods is a dark reimagining of the beloved characters from Winnie the Pooh. This story follows Winnie as she is trying to escape the hellish life and messes her parents left behind. Her hopes of starting over somewhere new are crushed when Christophe returns to collect on her family's debts. This book includes French Mafia, friends to enemies to lovers, auction trope, touch her and d!e, dual POV.
This was my second time reading this book, and it hit even better this time. So glad I received the book on the weekend because I was up until 2am reading away 📖. The updates from the novella to the current edition brought more magic for this reader. We get glimpses into their past and how their lives have been entangled. And the added details and interactions 😍. I absolutely adore Tru and Teague, two side characters that I was rooting for from the first page.
While I loved this story, I wish we saw a little more crossover between Winnie’s life and Les Millieu. With them all being in the same area-ish and with the business her parents were involved in, I wanted to read more of these interactions on page. She hints at that with snips of Tru’s story, so I'm hoping we get more of that in future books. Plus to learn more of the other players in Les Millieu.
This will be a series with the next book following Tru and Teague 😍. I'm a sucker for the right side characters and loved the niblets we get from their interactions. When their story comes out I will squeal like I’m at a boy band concert.
Winifred L'Ourson... Christophe Robicheaux... Teague Grey... Tru Cochonette... All tongue-in-cheek nods at Winnie the Pooh, that beloved childhood tale we all know and cherish. Only, imagine this tale as something darker, more dangerous and ready to seduce you!
I'll be honest. When I first heard that KC Enders was writing a fairytale retelling of Winnie the Pooh, I thought... she's either crazy, or a genius, because how on Earth do you take Winnie the Pooh and spin it so the adults can enjoy their own version? Turns out, Ms. Enders is an absolute genius!
Into the Woods has this maddeningly sticky pace that reminds you of sultry, southern summer nights, sipping sweet tea on the front porch while listening to the crickets sing, and of course... honey. And yet, the slow burn, the pile of kindling that she sets up so carefully from the beginning with the tiniest of spark to get that fire going grows steady as the book progresses, deceptively fast paced and more than a little intriguing.
I devoured this book in a day, and I want MORE! Christophe is every Dark Romance readers wet dream and Winnie, while portrayed as innocent and weak, is no one's pushover! She's strong, capable and was born to stand by Christophe's side.
RUN, don't walk, to get this book. You absolutely won't regret a single moment of it!
Winnie the Pooh retelling where Christopher Robin is in the mafia and Winnie is an innocent damsel in distress.
🌶🌶🌶 There were 4 spicey bits. 2 of which were solo. Explicit

🪴Fairytale retelling ♣️Mafia Romance 🪴Friends to lovers 🪴Age Gap
Things I enjoyed: I liked the majority of the flashbacks as they helped provide depth to the relationship. We could see that Christophe cared about Winnie and watched their relationship go from friendship to a teen crush. The concept was good and it was an overall easy read. I was able to finish the book in less than 3 hours.
Areas to improve: There wasn't any action until we were 200 pages in. Started strong with the death of Winnie's parents but the rest takes place over a couple of days and Winnie and Christophe lusting after each other while Winnie plans to run away. You could skip 100 pages and not miss anything crucial to the story. There was missed opportunity to delve more into the backstory of "Oncle". Christophe mentions being taught a lesson after his driver snitches and that's about it. I guess I wanted more "mafia" in my mafia romance.
If you have read The Lost Girls series by Holly Roberds and enjoyed them then I would recommend this book.
What if Christopher Robin grew up... and became a mafia king?
That was all I needed to hear before diving into Into the Woods by KC Enders—and I’m so glad I did. Part of why I picked it up is just to see how the hell the author would do a retelling on Winnie the Pooh.
This book is a dark, obsessive reimagining of a childhood classic, and it works. Christophe isn’t just a rebranded boy from the Hundred Acre Wood—he’s brutal, possessive, and carries a storm of secrets. Winnie, on the other hand, walks straight into the shadows with a soft heart and a spine of steel. Their chemistry is combustible, but what really hooked me was the atmosphere: gritty, haunting, and laced with danger from the first page.
If you’re expecting a sweet, nostalgic twist, let me stop you right here. This is a dark mafia romance through and through—violent, seductive, and full of emotional damage. If that's not your genre, this probably won’t be for you. But if you do love possessive MMCs, fairy tale retellings that don't play it safe, and stories where childhood innocence collides with adult obsession... buckle up.
One of the most impressive things about this book is how it keeps you on edge, even when you think you know where it’s going. The betrayals, shifting alliances, and moments of raw violence are both shocking and well-crafted. Enders takes something familiar and completely reshapes it into something dangerous and addictive.
I went into this book curious and came out needing the sequel. The promise of Piglet and Tigers has me genuinely excited. I cannot wait to see how Piglet’s anxiety and Tigger’s chaos play out in this dark criminal world. Honestly, it shouldn’t work—and yet it absolutely does.
Into the Woods is one of those books that sounds completely unhinged when you describe it, but somehow it works. It takes the soft, familiar world of Winnie the Pooh and flips it into something dark, dangerous, and weirdly addictive.
Winnie is trying to outrun the mess her parents left behind, but trouble catches up fast. Christophe isn’t just a blast from the past. He’s a threat, a temptation, and everything she shouldn’t want. Their history is messy, their connection is intense, and when they collide, it’s all heat and sharp edges.
The story blends mafia politics, obsession, betrayal, and just enough emotion to keep you invested. It’s fast-paced without feeling rushed, and the dual POV adds weight to the choices each character makes. The side characters don’t just fill space. Tru and Teague especially stand out and honestly deserve their own spotlight.
There were parts I wanted to see more of, especially when it came to Winnie’s ties to the bigger world around her, but the story still landed. It’s raw, it’s sexy, it’s a little chaotic, and it knows exactly what it’s doing.
If you’re into dark romance with a twist, this one delivers. You won’t look at your childhood favorites the same way again.
Into the Woods by KC Enders is a hauntingly beautiful, dark, and utterly gripping reimagining of Winnie the Pooh like you’ve never seen before. Christophe and Winnie’s story is steeped in history, betrayal, and undeniable passion, pulling you into a world where childhood innocence is long lost, replaced by power, sin, and a hunger for revenge.
The chemistry between them crackles—childhood friends turned enemies turned lovers, their connection is raw, painful, and breathtaking. The Hundred Acre Woods isn’t just a setting; it’s a character of its own, holding secrets, memories, and the ghosts of everything they once were. The twists are unpredictable, keeping you on edge until the very last page.
KC Enders masterfully blends dark romance with an emotional depth that lingers long after you’ve finished. If you love mafia romance, second chances, and stories that make your heart race, Into the Woods is an absolute must-read!
Into The Woods is my first read by this author and it's a great intro. Imagination definitely runs rampant in this one! Who would ever imagine Winnie The Pooh with a twist? Not me! But this author brings a fantastic dark rendering of a much loved story and let me tell you, Winnie and Christophe are absolutely phenomenal! Not only was I completely consumed with these two but there's two side characters as well that I fell in love with. Hopefully we'll get more of them and even get to revisit Christophe and Winnie as well.
"The very first day I met Christophe in the woods, then he became synonymous with home. He was my safe haven. He became my silent savior."
"This is the beginning of our adventure, ma chère. The start of our forever."
This is dark retelling of Winnie the Pooh, and is definitely not the childhood friend we thought.
This story starts when Christophe is a young boy, although he may be young, he has been taught the ways of his family. When his mother tells him to go out into the woods to play, he would never of thought he'd meet her.
Winnie is hiding, hiding from her parents and her life. But what she didn't expect was to find was a mysterious older boy in the woods. At 12 years old she gets her first kiss, and also loses the one person she thought cared about her.
At the age of 22, everything starts to unravel in front of her eyes. It just so happens that Christophe, her 12 year old girl Crush is at the forefront.

This was my first read by KC Enders and I was instantly drawn to the concept. I wanted to see how this reimagined twist on a childhood classic could be pulled off—and let me just say, it did not disappoint.
Christophe and Winnie’s story is steeped in angst, suspense, and a chemistry that builds beautifully through both flashbacks and the present timeline. It’s dark and layered, but still filled with emotional depth that had me completely hooked. I loved the creative nods to the original characters without it feeling predictable. In fact, the unpredictability is part of what made this so addictive.
If you’re looking for a retelling that dares to be different and actually delivers, Into the Woods is a must-read.
Dual narration - Allie Martina & Gideon Frost Great narrators!
This was an ok quick listen. There isn’t a ton of plot within this book. There is spice more so towards the end.
Winnie has found her parents dead and her sister/friend is there and they have to decide how to proceed. They have no money and their parents have debt.
Christophe is the morally grey drug lord that Winnie’s parents owe a great debt to. He demands payment from Winnie.
These two have history from when they were younger. Winnie has been waiting for Christophe and he has never left her for long. Watching her from a far.
Overall this was a quick and easy listen that is preformed well. I enjoyed the narrators performance and the story was decent.
Into the Woods is a dark, morally-grey, mafia-tinged retelling that kept me glued from start to finish — even if it barely resembled Winnie the Pooh outside of a few clever nods (names, honey, the woods). Winnie and Christophe’s dynamic was gritty, dangerous, and strangely addictive. Christophe, the French mafia heir with zero backstory, was all sharp edges and intensity, while Winnie’s narration leaned almost too youthful, which made parts feel slightly off balanced.
Still, this short story hooked me immediately. The male narration was fantastic, and this may officially be the moment I unlocked a new genre weakness: dark mafia romance. Scary? Yes. Intriguing? Absolutely. A door I didn't know existed…? Fully kicked open.
This book was everything I wanted and more for a reimagining story. It’s also a quick read.
I thought the titles of the chapters was fitting and how someone can come up with so many fitting D words is mind boggling.
If you know Pooh Bear and his friends then you will catch a lot of the references and play on names.
🌶️🌶️🌶️ It is very angsty and built up frustration but it is a slowburn when getting to the open door scene.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I am beyond thankful for getting the opportunity to get to ARC read this book. Thank KC for allowing me this experience.
This was such a different rendition of the Winnie the Pooh we are used to. Winnie and Christophe found each other as kids when they met up in the woods in between their houses. He was Winnie's only companion until he left one day and never came back. Winnie's life spiraled out of control and she was barely making it herself let alone trying to look after her best friend Tru. Christophe came back into her life but he is not the same boy she knew. His family is part if the Irish mafia and he came back to collect on Winnie's parents debts. She has to make good on their debts. This was a dark retelling of Winnie the Pooh so it is not the story you are used to. Looking forward to Tru's story!

A dark French mafia, Hundred Acre Woods retelling? Count me TF IN!!
I am OBSESSED with 2 things in this world—dark romance and Winnie the Pooh—and this book blends both of those things together.
Winnie and Christophe were amazing characters separately, but together… 👩🍳💋! I know some people could have concerns of this “ruining the characters, etc. for me” but y’all… I was kicking my feet and screaming. I enjoyed myself IMMENSELY during this little journey. I was living for every character pop up and Easter egg hidden in the details. If you are a fan of Winnie the Pooh and mafia romances, this is the book for you! And lets not forget to mention… it’s HOT!!! 🥵🥵🥵
So I was right. i got this book as an ALC, and one of the things that they try and do is list out all of the possible triggers, so that way people can just skip over them, if it's not something that they can handle this is one of those that has a little too much trigger and a little too vague on what kind of trigger it really is. Because nothing that is bad is on page. It's mentioned that something bad happened, but not what? And not how bad. So this is one of those books that you could probably read without a problem. As long as you can handle well written tough stories because some of it is bad.But not really the way that the author wrote, it makes all the difference.
Into The Woods is a dark romance-Winnie and Christophe in the Hundred Acre Wood. Please read all content warnings before listening. Winnie and Christophe met each other years ago. One day, Christophe didn’t return to town. Now, they have been reunited. What happens? Will they last? The duet narration by Allie Martina and Gideon Frost was phenomenal. Allie Martina was brilliant as sweet, shy, resilient Winnie. Gideon was divine as alpha, obsessive, possessive Christophe. His sexy, sultry tone was positively swoon worthy. These two extraordinarily talented voice actors brought this story to life beautifully. I highly recommend listening to this audiobook. Thanks to the author and High Gravity Productions for this ALC. AUDIOBOOK REVIEW: Story 5 stars Narration 5 stars
Allie Martina brings Winnie to life with a performance that’s vulnerable, fierce, and laced with that haunting softness the character needs.
Aiden Snow is perfection as Christophe—deep, commanding, and magnetic, capturing every ounce of danger and devotion in his voice. Together, they elevate the entire experience, turning an already intense story into something deeply immersive and addictive.
If you love dark reimaginings, twisted nostalgia, mafia edges, and narrators who know exactly how to amplify the heat and tension, this audiobook is absolutely worth diving into. It’s unsettling in the best way—and once the woods pull you in, you won’t want to leave.
Into The Woods was everything and more! I was super intrigued by a reimagining of Winnie the Pooh, and Into The Woods was dark and delicious. Yum! Allie Martina and Gideon Frost were an amazing pair to bring this book to life. Gideon’s was able to capture the grittiness of Christophe and his voice was chef’s kiss. Allie stepped into Winnie’s shoes and was equal parts broken and strong. I’d check the trigger warnings as there are some things that might not be for everyone, but me..I loved it. I love that Christophe was part of the mafia and not the sweet boy at the beginning of the story. Winnie made the best of her horrible home life and still managed to keep her beautiful caring heart.

I loved reading this book the story was written well and the characters were sensational. This story was about Christophe, and Winnie, they were young when they met, and then he disappeared. Both her parents died and then she was visited by a ghost Christophe, has come to collect the debt her parents left her. Her debt is putting her up for auction to sell something that was that's worth alot to men like Christophe's uncle wants.

It is a retelling. I am not a fan of retellings in general. However, the author wrote it really well. I forgot all about it halfway through it
The chemistry is there. The characters are well written. I don't think I connected the fairytale to this story until a couple of days after I read it. It is a full novel. The story between the characters starts when they were kids. So get comfortable it will be worth the read.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A deliciously dark mafia retelling of Winnie the Pooh. It’s got childhood friends reunited over the death of Winnie’s parents…. But not as friends.
The chemistry and want between these characters were so good. Balanced really well between the anger of their current relationship.
I’m not sure I love virgin auctions as a new trope but this one worked well for the story. And there was just enough Mafia violence to tie everything together.
