This story is about the Loch Ness Monster, a famous mythological creature that has not been proven to exist yet. This book therefore fits into the myth category of traditional literature. I enjoyed reading this book because I am fascinated by myths such as this. I learned a lot about this creature that I was not aware of before. I did not know that it is said to be found in a lake called Loch Ness in Scottland, I thought it lived in the ocean. I slightly believe that an animal like this could possibly exist and it could be an ancestor from a dinosaur-like creature in the past. I would share this book with students in 4th-5th grade just because the idea of it could scare younger children. I know I probably would have been afraid of it when I was younger. I think that 4th and 5th graders would be more able to decipher fact from myth and, therefore, they would find it to be more fascinating than scary. I think that it is important to study myths because it gives insight into the history and cultures of people who believe in them.
