Still not in the mood to write full reviews, so straight to the point it is again...

Noah and Samara were introduced in Rescue Me, the 1st book in the series, and I was happy to see that I didn't have to wait "forever" to read their book. I was even happier to see that their book didn't disappoint me. Great writing with a good mix of romance and suspense, yummy hero with a past tortured enough to make me want to hug him and never let go, strong heroine who isn't afraid to fight for what she wants but also knows when to back off, surprising villain - yup, I didn't see that coming :) - and several tense, nail-biting and cringe-worthy scenes that kept me glued to my couch/bed/wherever I was. What's not to like? Granted, I had to suspend my disbelief a couple of times, but it wasn't enough to bother me. This is Romancelandia, not real life. As long as I'm connected to the H/h and I'm engaged in their story, I don't mind going along with whatever the author throws my way.

Note: This is the 2nd book in the series and, as much it pains me to say it, you don't have to read the 1st one to enjoy this one. However, why would you want to skip the 1st book? ;)

I LOVED this book, and I couldn’t find one reason not to give it 5 stars.

Pamela Clare was my first romantic suspense books, and IMO, she can be a tough act to follow.

Well Christy Reece has me all “Fan Girl” now!
This is my second Romantic Suspense from Reece, and it is the second installment in the LAST CHANCE RESCUE series. I really liked the first book “Rescue Me” and Reece did not disappoint in this one.
Her descriptions of everything are excellent, not too much, just right. The images in my head were like a movie playing.

Return To Me is a continuation of the first book. We meet all of the players, good and bad, in the first book. A new character pops up in this one, who plays a major role in the story. The suspense of the story isn’t a “who done it”. It’s pretty much known all along who the bad guys are. I loved watching the story play out, wondering what was going to happen next.

Characters are really important to me, whether I love them or hate them. And Reece made me absolutely love the 2 lead characters.

Noah McCall is the founder and “head man in charge” of the LCR (Last Chance Rescue) organization. I got to know him very little in the first book as a secondary character. Now in Return to me, he is a full blown lead character, with the alpha male presence that of my favorite kind. The mysterious, loner, brooding tortured hero, yanked at my heart strings, and tugged my tear ducts more than once. Learning about his past broke my heart.
A good part of his past is found out early on in the book, but it’s not until the traumatic events of the story play out that we find out the depths of his emotional scars.

Noah first meets Samara Lyons toward the end of the first book, and she’s quite the firecracker. She comes across to him like no one else, tough, “take no crap” attitude clashes with Noah and the sparks ignite.

The story begins:
Noah shows up in Samara’s hometown of Birmingham Alabama to ask her to help him with an operation. Because she is small in stature, and looks years younger than she is, he thinks she’d be perfect to help him catch an online predator, who is associated with a human trafficking ring. After some…convincing, she agrees to help him. Samara is harboring some residual hurt feelings from Noah, but as the story unfolds and she gets to know him, (as much as he’ll let her) she starts to develop other feelings for him, and him for her. The sexual tension builds to explosive proportions.
Noah is constantly trying to keep Samara at arms length, (unsuccessfully at times) because he thinks he has nothing to offer. His work is his life, and he has no time, or desire for a relationship. That combined with his past, makes him think he has nothing to give Samara. Well…Samara has other plans.

*********** QUOTES*******

Like the rarest of all treasures, he explored her as if she were a precious, undiscovered jewel. Every soft sigh he cherished, every groan ingrained into his memory. When she took him inside her, it was as if he were coming home, As if in her arms, all the answers in the universe were hers to give and he greedily accepted them. Surging into her heated warmth, Noah found what he’d been searching for his entire life.

**************************

Lying across the bed that only an hour ago he’d shared with Samara, he inhaled the lingering sweetness of her fragrance. Their lovemaking the first time had been purely sexual, intense and passionate, but without the intensity of deep feelings. Today it had been that…purely lovemaking. A wry grimace tugged at his mouth. He was thirty-two years old and had just made love for the first time today.

This second book in Christy Reece's Last Chance series was one hell of a ride (and so much better than the first book), mostly because of the big boss himself, Noah McCall, who’s intrigued me the first time he appeared (in Rescue Me) and I was glad I didn’t have to wait a few more books to read his story.

A dark past has molded Noah McCall into the man he is today. The founder of LCR (Last Chance Rescue), an organization specializing in helping the innocent, turning victims into survivors, he’s driven by revenge. He needs to find the human-trafficker that killed the man who gave Noah his purpose, and put him behind bars forever.
But to do that he needs help. So he turns to Samara Lyons, the woman who’s been haunting his dreams for the last year.

Samara is still angry with herself for succumbing to her attraction for Noah last year, after the wedding of the man she herself planned to marry. She’s even more angry with him for having her deposited her on the bed that night (fully dressed), kissed her forehead, and disappeared from her life.
But now the hot, arrogant, sexy, infuriating man is back and he needs her help in tracking down an online predator. Her body’s reaction to Noah tells her to say no, but her conscience demands she says yes.

Now, Noah is working with Samara to bring the bastard to justice, all the while fighting off the powerful, almost debilitating attraction, all the while trying to keep her safe. Unfortunately not all things in life come easy, and even the strongest of men are bound to succumb to their weaknesses and fail.

Noah was the quintessential romance leading man. Hot and sexy as hell, with a dark, painful and mysterious past that determined his actions and behavior, arrogant and infuriating to the max – which was all just a mask to hide his thoughts and true feelings, and he lived in such a deep denial it would’ve been comical if it wasn’t so heart-breaking.

Samara was his complete opposite (and so his perfect match) and probably one of the few people he couldn’t manipulate and (sometimes) saw through his mask. Her appearance could fool people into thinking her fragile and in need of coddling, but despite her small height and the face of a teenager, the woman had spunk and a spine made of steel.
And she was determined to show Noah it was okay to love her.

Unfortunately the poor guy had no idea how to love, because no one ever taught him what love was, how it felt. He thought he had no heart, so he couldn’t love anyone. He thought he had almost no humanity left, so he couldn’t risk loving anyone and getting them hurt. The only thing he had to offer, was his protection, the only way to show he cared was by protecting the people he cared about.
It was up to Samara to show him how wrong he was, but everybody underestimated just how stubborn (and afraid) the guy was…Until it was almost too late.

I loved this story, Noah and Samara were splendid characters, Jordan and Eden (h/h from Rescue Me) made a few appearances and I liked them more in this story than in theirs, the villain was twisted enough for me to like him (as much as I could ever like a villain) and look forward to him getting his just reward, the action scenes (thought not many) were satisfying enough, the sex scenes hot and nicely conveying the participants’ thoughts and perfectly outlining the growth of their feelings from each other (from hot, steamy, quick and furious sex to hot, steamy, slow and tender lovemaking). Noah with his stubbornness, fear and indecisions made us all sweat almost to the very end, but when he finally did snap out of it – awww. Yet he still remained in character. Nicely done, Ms. Reece.

How nice! I was afraid I would have to wait for book three to get Noah's story, but "Return to Me" delivers with all the suspense of "Rescue Me" with Noah as the hero. I had to go looking for Reece's bio, wondering if maybe she has published under another name. The good news is, this trilogy IS her first published work/s and she's already got another one (trilogy) set for publication in Feb, Mar, and Apr 2010.

Noah is the head of LCR (Last Chance Rescue). It's his baby and the only thing he lives for. He set up the organization to atone for his perceived past and even though he rarely acts an operative, he still knows every man and woman he's recruited and trained to help those who can't help themselves. But his latest case will pit Noah against a criminal he's all too familiar with and one he's not sure he can kill.

Samara thinks Noah is the MOST arrogant and irritating man she's ever met. Sure he's gorgeous, but then he opens his big, fat mouth and infuriates her! She knows when a man is attracted to her, and he IS, but she gave him his chance and he blew it. So what is he doing tracking her down now? Sure, he needs her help...to act as bait and save young teens from an online predator. Samara knows she couldn't live with herself if she doesn't help, but having to live with Noah may be too much of a price to pay. Then the evil comes closer than either of them thought, and both Noah and Samara will have to face their fears together to win.

Noah, Noah, Noah. What a yummy, heroic, and STUPID man! That's my only negative for this book. How can such an intelligent man continue to harbor such delusions? No matter how I tried I just couldn't make that fit with Noah's other characteristics and that bugged me throughout the book. Other than that...really enjoyed the whole shebang. Plot, pacing, hot sex, intrigue, action, dialogue...they all work together to form one hell of a read that will have you on the edge of your seat throughout. Now you'll just have to excuse me while I run out and pick up book three "Run to Me".

Christy Reece has to be my new favorite discovery. I’m so glad that I finally started this series because it has so many great things in it. With a wonderful balance between the romance and the suspense and I love that I have found a set of heroes that I can add to my harem. Honestly, it’s been a long time since I have been excited about a series.

RETURN TO ME lives up to my expectations. Boiling with sensuality and suspense, this book really has a strong understanding of balance. I really loved both the main characters in this book because of the added dark tone to the book. You can definitely feel the array of emotions as you read and I thought Reece did a great job of conveying those emotions to the reader.

I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. What’s so great is that all the books are already out and so binge reading is a real temptation for me at the moment. But I will try to savor this series for as long as I can before starting on Reece’s other backlist titles.

Christy Reece’s Last Chance Rescue series is shaping up to be a ripper! So far, I’m two for two, and I think I might just have liked this, the second book, a touch more than Rescue Me. We were introduced to Noah McCall in Rescue Me, and I found him intriguing in that book. He was a dark, enigmatic, mysterious character with a shadowy past and I really wanted to know his story. Kudos to the author for not dangling him like a carrot across multiple books.

As the ruthless head of Last Chance Rescue, Noah appears manipulative and emotionless, yet through his organisation has dedicated his life to finding and rescuing innocents. It is this dichotomy that made him such a fascinating character (note that I haven’t even mentioned his magnetic sex appeal – oops, I just did!). We also met Samara Lyons in the previous book as the ex-fiancée of that book’s hero, Jordan, who is now an LCR operative along with his new wife Eden. This was a potentially messy set of circumstances that the author managed with ease.

With her small stature and youthful looks, Samara is the perfect lure to capture an online predator that Noah has been after for some time. With no other agents able to act the part, and against his better judgment, Noah approaches Samara for her help. Despite the fact that she has an intense dislike for and unwanted attraction to Noah, Samara readily offers her assistance. Her lack of training will be of no consequence as she will be surrounded at all times by LCR operatives and Noah personally vows he will never let anything happen to her.

I’m sure you know where this is going. Everything goes completely pear-shaped and Samara finds herself a captive pawn in the middle of a human-trafficking ring, in the hands of a powerful enemy – with a personal grudge against Noah. Not knowing if Noah is dead or alive, and facing untold danger, Samara can rely on no-one but herself.

I will leave the plot there, but suffice it to say, it was gripping, violent and dark. I appreciate that the author isn’t afraid to take the reader right into the middle of the action, and doesn’t sugar-coat or gloss over any of the abhorrent activities that take place in this kind of situation. And while I was a little surprised that Noah wasn’t quite the superhuman powerhouse that I was expecting, I appreciated that his mistakes were another element of realism in the story.

As with the previous book, the suspense and romance are beautifully balanced, neither taking place of the other. I loved watching these two fight against their feelings for one another, only to accept that it was impossible, then try to put conditions and limitations on their attraction – with about as much success. As well done as the action was, the romance was equally so.

We were gradually introduced to Noah’s truly tragic past as we grasped it’s relevance to the present circumstances, both with his reluctance to allow Samara into a heart he believes no longer exists, and the evil which he has brought into her life. I loved the precious gift of his tenderness, contrasting with his deadly focus and resolve. He definitely was a tortured hero who deserved the happiness he tried so hard not to accept, and I thought Samara was a good match for him. I loved the way their relationship was finally resolved.

I have no idea who will be featuring in the next book, but I am looking forward to it nonetheless. If you’re looking for some romantic suspense with gripping action and satisfying, emotional romance, then this series is probably for you.

The setup
Noah McCall, founder and leader of Last Chance Rescue, is a study in emotional self control and mystery. I was hoping his story would live up to the man and it surpassed my expectations.

The issues
To say Samara Lyons, Jordan Montgomery's former girlfriend, left an impression on Noah is a pretty big understatement. When an opportunity arises to have someone pose as a teenager to trap an online predator, Samara was the first person Noah thought of to help with the operation. They also have some "unfinished business" resulting from her last meeting with him in Paris.

What worked
There's plenty of action, including some really harrowing moments that had me almost afraid to keep reading. Noah's backstory alone was worth reading this book, but there was so much more that made the story a standout. Samara slowly and methodically dismantled the heart of the mighty McCall, their romance unconventional and remarkable. Lastly, anytime the subject involves human trafficking, it will also involve some nasty and vicious characters who are present in this story. Some of the things that happen will test your resolve, at least it did mine.

One thing...
Despite Noah's hero status, he came very close to being the anti-hero in the romance department. Suffice it to say he redeemed himself in spite of some questionable moments.

The bottom line
This story is outstanding in all respects. I had high expectations for a book about Noah McCall and it's still a surprise to me that it surpassed them. I'm loving this series.

4.5 stars. Another great book by Reece. I think I liked this one even better than 'Rescue Me'. Noah, the founder/leader of Last Chance Rescue finds a perfect match with Samara. I liked Samara quite a bit too. And the chemistry between them was steamy! While this is a romantic suspense storyline, the romance is the main focus of the story - which works for me! The suspense storyline of human trafficking young girls was quite gripping but it did have its holes, so anyone looking for a tight, accurate suspense read may be a bit disappointed. But for me, this book was hard to put down and I will read more by this author. If you haven’t read ‘Rescue Me’ this one does stand alone. There is little overlap, but all needed back-story is provided. Enjoy.

This book had a lot of adventure, but it was implausible scenario after implausible scenario. Too many coincidences, too much sloppy work by supposed professionals. The villains magically accomplished a kidnapping right from under LCR’s noses. Implausible.

Noah was so stuck on the idea that he could never love Mara that he pushed her away through the whole book. Mara was a desperate doormat. Apparently Noah has a magical peen. She should’ve given the other guy a chance! The end scene just made me mad. There was no romance at all. She should’ve told him to F off. Where was the grovel after how much hell he put her through?

This is a great Romantic suspence story with good strong leads. The characters have a depth to them that is not always found in books these days.
In the second book of Last Chance Rescue series we find out the history of Noah and how LCR came to be. The hero Noah is handsome and compelling. I love how heroine Samara is strong ("By the time I'm through with him, he'll be kicking his own ass") but at the same time she's loving and caring. Great chemistry between these two.
There is a lot of drama, suspence, action, twist and turns in this book.
I only recently discovered Christy Reece books and I really love her writing style.

Overall this was an enjoyable, if flawed, book. The plot moved along at a good pace and there was plenty of tension (sexual and otherwise) and plenty of action. It was also satisfying to get some of the plot threads from Rescue Me resolved.

But here's what didn't work for me: The fact that Samara had been almost engaged to Jordan and their sex life was mentioned in the first book. Not a big deal, but didn't sit well with me. A bigger deal was the fact that the good guys beat people to bloody pulps and otherwise tortured them to get information. I don't like torture scenes, and can't get very fuzzy feelings about someone who uses it.

There were also a few too many "convenient" inconsistencies. Two in particular: someone at a private residence being guarded by five LCR operatives, supposedly "the best," was kidnapped by hired thugs. No explanation was given about how that was accomplished, nor were there any reprimands for screwing up. In fact, the usually hard-nosed Noah seemed to ignore that it happened at all. I guess the author couldn't think of another way to set up the scene. Then, there was the fact that while nobody would even mention his name on the phone, Noah blithely reveals his true identity to a criminal. The revelation was completely unnecessary and made no sense considering we've been told it was such a carefully guarded secret.

Still, I read the book in just 2 days even though distracted by a busy schedule. I felt compelled to see what happened, and that says something good about the book.

My rating :

Couldn’t finish it.

This is such an unrealistic story. The hero asks the heroine to help him track a predator who’s suspected of kidnaping teenage girls. But the way he goes about it is so idiotic: he kidnaps her, ties her up, then asks for her help. Really?! Furthermore, the heroine’s got no training whatsoever; he works with a whole lot of trained operatives, but he goes for her anyway?! Meh. Doesn’t make any sense.

To keep up with the whole unbelievable thing, the heroine is kidnaped (again, though this time by the bad guys), stripped naked and thrown into some room... that her kidnapers keep unlocked, allowing her to escape. What the heck? Who would go to the trouble of kidnaping someone only to keep her unrestrained in an unlocked room?!

And wait, that’s not all. While escaping the bad guys, she also rescues two teenage girls who were kept in a cabin... doors unlocked and unguarded. They were, however, handcuffed to the bed. But that’s no trouble for our untrained heroine. Nope, she can pick the lock and free them! That’s so pathetic I almost laughed.

Too many events with simplistic resolutions. It was a big turn off for me.

Both MCs came across as emotionally immature. They’re acting and talking like hormonal teenagers.

So I gave up just past the 50% mark. Not worth my time.

Return to Me
4 Stars

Despite her unrequited attraction to Noah McCall, head of Last Chance Rescue, Samara Lyons agrees to aid him in capturing a predator by posing as a young girl online. When the sting operation goes awry and Samara finds herself in danger, Noah will have to confront the demons of his past in order to save the woman he loves and have a future with her.

The romance is significantly better than book #1 and the suspense plot is fast-paced, action packed and tension filled.

Noah is smolderingly sexy and pushes all my tortured hero buttons with the trauma of his backstory. Nevertheless, he is also annoyingly stubborn and his negative view of himself and feeling that he is not good enough for Samara is overdone. Samara, thankfully, refuses to fall apart at Noah’s repeated rejections and works hard to prove, both to him and herself, that she is sufficiently strong and resilient to take anyone on, including Noah.

The online predator / human trafficking case is very apropos considering the threats posed to teens on the Internet these days. The villains are vicious, despicable scum and get what coming to the although there are several distressing scenes along the way that almost cross the line into DNF territory.

All in all, Return to Me exceeds expectations and hopefully Run to Me will continue the trend.

I feel like there's a bit of an inconsistency in Samara's character. I remember her character well from Rescue Me because I really like her. I thought she was classy, calm, smart, and sharp. While she still had some of those quality in Return to Me, it didn't quite click together.

The story starts with her telling her friends she found her future-husband after watching some foaming bath commercial. Yeah, very intelligent there. And then we learn that her brothers taught her how to fight since she was young. And then she was violated when she helped Noah in a sexual predator case. Feeling rejected and heartbroken, she disappeared for three months to underwent training and began her own online sexual predator investigation. Now, other LCR operatives think she's good enough to become a member of their team. After three months of training with who knows who, Samara, a former social worker, is good enough to join LCR? Really? And LCR considered themselves as an elite team in rescue mission?

I'm sorry, but I have a hard time accepting that especially when you compared the things Eden went through to get to where she is.

I just want to say that I LOVE Noah McCall. They really worked him up in the first book and gave the reader a nice picture of his character. When I was done reading the first one I was really hoping to get more into Noah. And wow did this book not disappoint! I thought everythng from the storyline, romance, twists were really good! I just want a piece of Noah for myself! I enjoyed the first book to this series ans thought this book was even better! There's nothing sexier then a man with a low voice and a sense of humor! Def reccommended read!! Also the thing I like about Christy Reece and this series so far is that she really gives an insight into the next character to her books! She introduces a character towards the end of this book who will be the main focus in the next book. I like that! And now I already have a juicy image of the next character I get to read about! Bonus!! :)

Better than the first one but still not my cup of tea. Again I found the main characters of this book unbelievable. This time it's him to be so stubborn to be really stupid. Okay, I get you don't want the woman you love getting risk, but please, stop to slap her in her face telling her to get lost.

No, even if the story was better and she was a great woman (infact I know he didn't deserve her!) I still have some reserves about this author. I'm already onto the 3rd of this series, hoping she'll improve.

What do you get when you mix a hero who's a manipulative jerk with a very angsty background and a stubborn tough heroine who can give him everything he dishes out?

THIS BOOK.

He's an uptight boss of a large crew and she's a sweet stubborn girl looking for Prince Charming.... Too bad she gets Mister emotionally tough as bricks... Its a good that his bricks slowly come tumbling down every time he's around her....

This is the BEST book in the series of LCR,absolutely loves each second of the story the twist turns and Noah's sufferings really made me cry but he is such a brave courageous humble and a great person who gave a chance to survive to so many people and brought about changes in so many person's life and saved so many

Samara she is sweet innocent gentle caring person who has lead a sheltered cosseted life with so many people to care about her and she has a big family who loves her adores her so so much but then Jordan came into her life and she came to know about LCR she was going to get married to him but Jordan fall in love with Devon though she realised she did'nt loved Jordan the way she should have(as she herself says if she loved Jordan she would have not stood silently and see Jordan get married to another woman) she cared about him though but the break up has bruised her ego then she meet Noah who is chief and founder of LCR

Samara-Noah both feel their attraction is so deep but Noah keeps his distance cause he knows he has nothing to offer to her but he needs her help and she agrees but she gets caught and god her sufferings she was beaten sexually molested and nearly raped but Noah saves her but his mission is not over he has to save all the other girls

Noah purposely hurts Samara's feelings saying some hurtful things and also keeps throws everything hurtful so that she goes away she deserves a better person then him but if Noah is stubborn so is Samara she also keeps with it and proves it to Noah she is also capable being a LCR operative and she is also strong enough

Through many hurdles their love finally wins and Noah's one goal when he started the LCR is also accomplished, still Noah is being jerk that is when Eden gives him lecture and he comes to his senses and we get to see the the much awaited HEA

Absolutely loved this book,a keeper for me,my ratings is 5++++++++++++++++++

Despite a fabulous first book in this series, Return to Me didn't have any sophomore blues and more than lived up to it's predecessor.

What Worked: As always, I'm all about fabulous characters. Noah far surpassed my expectations. Having been intrigued by him in Reece's first book in the Last Chance Rescue series, I had high expectations and he delivered. If you like a tortured hero, Noah McCall is not to be missed. Even if the rest of the book wasn't to my liking his back story was worth the read.

What also worked was the gritty suspense. It's dark and nail biting. The myriad of emotions Reece put me through was amazing. I hated the bad guy. I loved Noah. I cheered on Samara. I chuckled at Eden giving Noah a hard time. I think my heart stopped when it looked as if Samara was going to....nope not going to go into too many details. You'll have to read the book to see what I'm talking about but be warned, human trafficking is not necessarily in everyone's comfort zone.

What Didn't Work: As much as I love Noah I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that he was a douche canoe several times towards Samara. If I wasn't so taken by him and his back story his attitude would have turned me completely off instead of just frustrating me. In addition to Noah's flaws, Samara just wasn't Eden (the heroine from the first book). I couldn't help but compare the two. I know I shouldn't have but I did and so I put it on the table for you. I'm sure your experience with the book will be different than mine but as it directly effected my enjoyment, and my star rating, I had to mention it.

In a Nutshell: A Fabulous Romantic Suspense and a new favorite author makes Christina a happy girl! I can't wait to read the next book. Ethan is sure to be amazing. I mean, Noah amazing!

Noah McCall, founder of Last Chance Rescue, recruits Samara Lyons to pose as a teenager to trap an online predator. When Noah moves into her house to set up the sting, she soon finds out that working with him is going to be a challenge. Noah has a hard time disguising his desire for Samara, and she's going crazy hiding her own feelings. The middle of a high-stakes operation is not the time to indulge. But when it's time to trap their predator, things go terribly wrong and Samara ends up being kidnapped by the same guy they're trying to capture.

This is the second book in Reece's Last Chance Rescue series and another winner. There is lots of action, hot romance, and suspense. Samara is a fiesty heroine who doesn't take "no" for an answer. Noah is a great hero who will do anything to protect her. The only drawback to the story was the fact that Noah felt he was not good enough for Samara because of his past. I would have given the book 5 stars if it hadn't dwelled on it. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

4 STARS

"DESIRED TO DEATH
Posing as an underage teenager, Samara Lyons is out to trap an online predator. Smart, fiery, and fresh off a broken engagement, Samara is up for the challenge. But this challenge might not be so easy. Her boss, Noah McCall, head of a private international corporation called Last Chance Rescue, can't disguise his raw, physical desire for Samara-and she's going crazy battling her own feelings for him. The middle of a high-stakes op, with the fate of dozens of innocent lives on the line, is not the time to indulge in sensual delights.
Then the sting explodes, forcing Noah to face his dark past and throwing Samara into the middle of an evil tug-of-war. Noah must confront an enemy he knows better than anyone else in the world, while Samara must find a way to stay alive. Now it's no longer a matter of desire-it's all about survival." (From Amazon)

The second book has Samara and Noah coming face-to-face again and the sparks are still there. Again Reece is able to deliver on suspense and has you gripped from the beginning. I am in for the whole series.

To be fair, I did not read the first installment of this series which could explain my need for further character development. Having said that, I thought the characters were predictable and lacked depth. Samara longed for and chased Noah despite risk to her body and heart, while he ran from her except for work and sex. I didn't find either scenario endearing.

I found several things quite annoying. First, assertions that growing up with 5 brothers taught her life lessons however we didn't see her apply any. Secondly, each horrible set of events was proceeded by Noah's assurance of safety. Made him look like an inept user. Finally, learning self defense and continuing the work was part of her plan to catch him. Ugh.

On the plus side, I did finish it but I had far too many eye rolls to rate it higher than 2.5.

This is the second book of the Last Chance Rescue series. Characters tie to book one. Return to Me was a fast paced plot that followed a basic formula. The character development was great for Noah, who is the head of LCR and a very closed personality. Getting to really know him was the best part of the book.

Noah and Samara had an encounter of the drunken variety at the end of book one Rescue Me and Samara is still annoyed by the memory, and Noah, a year later. Noah, a very controlled personality, also has unresolved feelings about the incident. Now, he has a operation that would fit Samara perfectly. Sparks fly as they work together on the operation, setting up Samara as bait for a child abduction ring. Noah insists any physical relationship is "just sex". Of course, Samara is in Love. The whole operation is a personal mission for Noah and things do not go as planned.

i adored this book. i hoped i would. i was completely intrigued by Noah in the first book and couldnt wait to get to this one. it did not let me down. i think Noah and Samara were just the perfect match. she is quick witted and strong enough to put up with his gruffer edges. their instant chemistry that we saw in book 1 is nothing to how they are together in this one. the suspense plot was a continuation from book 1 as well. it was done well, even if a little coincidental.

the ending of this book was just so great. it was nice to see a different side of Noah once he let his guard down. after such an intense book the light hearted ending was a nice surprise.

Noah and Samara had some great chemistry. There are some really horrific scenes, not for squeamish readers. Poor Noah has a much worse past than I was prepared for. He does a few things that pissed me off, but once you learn his background he's a bit more understandable. Samara puts up with a lot. The relationship between the two felt very genuine, but the back and forth, wishy washy-ness got a little old toward the end. I could have done without one or two of the "Leave me, NO! Come back to me" scenes.

I can't understand how this book got such a high rating from so many people. The character samara is unbearable. She is overly emotional and overreacts to everything. The interaction between Samara and Noah in the first chapter is so unrealistic I could barely get through it. Yes I know most romance novels are unrealistic but this one really goes overboard. I only continued to read hoping it would get better but if anything I think it got worse. I love the tortured hero as much is anybody but the martyr hero is somebody I cannot bear. Not recommended.

OK, it's official! This is the second book in the series that I've read. And I've got to say that the hero and heroine are even worse than in the first one. Samara is the ultimate crybaby. I think she cried about a dozen times in the book, and almost every time for some stupid reason. Noah is the biggest jerk there is and stupid to boot when it comes to his personal life and the woman he loves.

That's it for me with this series. I don't have the patience for this kind of characters.

Cheers
