The sight of the stagecoach racing down main street at full gallop was enough to cause alarm, but when driven by a mountain of a man, and followed by a huge black stallion, well, that was cause for panic!
Hawthorn was a quiet little town, and Sheriff Carle had not seen more than an occasional drunken fight in his time here. But by the look of it, that was about to change!
Max had been on his way to Sweet Water Valley to see John Fitzpatrick, when he came upon the robbed stagecoach. So now, after waiting for the Sherrif and being ambushed and shot for his trouble, he was back on the trail, but a couple days late. He wouldn’t be here, except the telegram from his friend, and US Marshal had asked him, said it was important. This should be a simple ransom delivery. Not his usual type of work, but if Randy thought is was important…..well then…..it was important.
What Max couldn’t know was that the simple delivery, the Stagecoach robbery, and Patty Maguire were all tied together. Nothin is ever as simple as it looks!
Max will find himself, once again, judge, jury and executioner.
ADULT Historical Western Adventure 🐺💪🔫🔪🐎💀 There is plenty of violence and shootouts as well as stabbings, Arson 🔥in This novel. The gore level is pretty high with scalpings and other Atrocities To some of the characters. Not for the squeamish. Regardless the book has a great story that kept me turning pages Until it was finished! On to the next book #5.
I got this e-book from Amazon with kindle unlimited
One of the esr series Ive read and hope he comes with following Mac Reeves he's a great writer
He kept you wondering what going to happen and made you to go to the next book to find out and it continue and had to go the third book and then theforth book so he better not stop and see what girl je gets
I liked the mystery you put in, like Isabella being a Pinkerton and Tim Miles being the master mind behind a westernized mafia! I hope you will continue the series and let Max find a love to share his life. I enjoyed reading all four of the books in this series, hope you continue it.
This is my 3rd Max Reeves novel. Still need a REALLY GOOD proofreader. The story line is solid, but the progression of it is a stumbling mess. Way too much wording and time wasted on stating, restating and rerestating what a mean, nasty honey but fair minded bounty hunter Max is.
The stories of Max Reeves are really worth reading. I just don't understand why the language I don't believe that these people were that illiterate back then. Once you change the language in your reading the story is amazing. I would recommend this series to anyone that loved western stories.
All of the authors’ characters that usually surround Max Reeves move throughout this story with surprising appearances. Some are connected in ways unknown to Max. Corrupt lawmen are revealed. Max discovers that a town beauty is an undercover US Marshall. All ends well. Good western story.
I liked the quick action of the main character and his ability as a young man to make quicker decisions and do things right. Nothing to dislike about it so thoroughly enjoyed I have to give it a five star rating. I recommend to all who love quick action westerns. You won’t be disappointed.
I liked the action. Lone gunman traveling the west helping the defenseless. I give 4 stars because it is a good story, the plot stays on track and mostly good writing and editing. Only bad thing is the mind numbing use of the word yer. Used too much and quite often incorrectly. It is somewhat of a distraction. Still I enjoyed series so far and hope for more.
Interesting story line. I liked Max better in the first books. Felt like Mr. Harvey used too much slang language at times especially in the women characters. Also aged Max to fast in the amount of time the books cover. Will watch for more of Mr. Harvey's work
I would rate all of Harvey's plots 4starspluss if he would only have most of his charters talk better english. ' there's no way all people we're that illiterate He has doctors lawyers every body talking s STUPID
I guess after reading Dead End, I will continue to work backwards and read book 3! It is obvious there is action.from the get go, so Robert HArvey, I will now read book 3!
Now that I have read the first four books in this series I'm hoping for more. Each one has been unique with all the action and adventure you could want. I am a fan.
