Rate this book
Part of the Behind the Seams series, The Catcher is an in-depth exploration into the most demanding position in baseball. Interviews by author Rob Trucks of more than fifty major-league catchers, past and present — including Yogi Berra, Lance Parrish, Charles Johnson, and Mike Lieberthal — give a never-before-seen glimpse into life behind the mask. They share the techniques they mastered to become great catchers, their most memorable plays, and what it feels like to catch a no-hitter or a knuckleball.

When you're into baseball, you run into things like this book. You never think of catchers & how they have such an influence on the game. It's really interesting to see how you can appreciate different players or teams but not positions, maybe pitchers since like quarterbacks they get all the notoriety & fame. This position doesn't really get the credit it deserves which is understandable. This opens your eyes to things like who caught that no-hitter that Nolan Ryan threw or how they stand their ground so the runner has to collide & run the catcher over. It's good to read this book so you can know more about some famous & not so famous catchers over the history of baseball.
