What’s scarier than hunting demons?
Being bonded to one of them.

Ever since I got involved with the demons, my life has fallen apart.

Now, I’m persona non grata with the mage council. And because of me, my sister is in danger. If that wasn’t bad enough, I’m also the lead suspect in an attempted murder.

But it gets worse. I’m learning that everything I thought I knew about myself was a lie. And the underhanded demon who bonded with me? Well, he’s convinced he can keep me.

When an ancient fae artifact turns up missing, I have to use every trick up my sleeve to locate it. Someone wants to watch the world burn, and if I don’t stop them, every paranormal alive is a target.

Armed with a power I don’t understand, and with a demon I don’t trust by my side, it’s up to me to dodge the people who want me dead and protect my city.

Before Samael loses patience with whoever is hunting me and burns the city down himself.

Does Danica even realise how lucky she is to have Samael drooling over her???? If I were her...

Another fantastic story that lead me closer to understanding the world of Demons and what the past has dealt them... another brilliant mystery that has brought forth a prophecy that I was not aware of and a story that has given us the true heritage of Danica!

I love these books and how they're written, I love how easy Ms Stark draws me into her world and how I am reluctant to leave it when real life needs my attention...

Bring on the next book!

✅ 2 POVs
✅ Demons, witches, shifters, and faes
✅ Fast pace / Addictive
✅ Plot
✅ Characters
✅ Sexual tension and smut
✅ "Shocking" revelation
✅(🆗) Evie
❗️❗️Trigger warnings: mentions of beating up and murders (not too graphic)

I need to step up my review-writing game because I am reading these books faster than I can write my reviews. 😅

The romance took the right direction. I said in my review of the first book that I was happy Danica managed to keep her wits to herself and resist her pull to Samael instead of just letting her body decide. While she did end up in bed with him, she also managed to keep a clear head about him and their future. The sexual tension felt more present and intense in this sequel, and it was also mixed with some angst near the end, which I adored. It was hinted that Samael knew something Danica did not know about her ancestry and that she could be the key to his big plan. It was briefly mentioned, but it promised the possibility for some angst from the start, and I couldn’t wait for this confrontation to happen.

That being said, I wouldn’t mind having Samael at my beck and call, ready to worship me. The demon is hot and intense and hard to resist… As long as he is not trying to order her around. I understand why Danica is pissed off with him every time he forces her into a new bargain or try to control her life. That is why I said that while I enjoyed the sexual tension between them, I am also happy she remained rational about it. Samael is as frustrating as he is hot, and he thinks as a centuries-old high demon, used to get what he wants when he wants it, and used to coerce people when they refuse to obey him, which is definitely not working with someone like Danica.

We get more backstory on Samael, and it was heartbreaking to see his memories. We also get answers about Danica’s father, and it is a good twist, but I am not that shocked about it. There were a few hints dropped here and there that allowed me to come to pretty much the right conclusion about her parentage. I do hope that Danica will hold her ground and not forgive Samael right away for the secrets he kept, because I am an angst-lover, and this is not just a case of silly miscommunication. He knowingly held information from her and was planning on using her. It does not mean he doesn't care for her, but I do think Danica has grounds to be pissed for a little while, and Samael needs to find a way to truly apologize, besides trying to order her to spend time with him.

Evie is a bigger part of this book, and I am happy that Danica was able to mend things with her sister. Still, while I am happy to see their sister bond slowly being restored, I can’t help but still being a little pissed at Evie for how she ignored Danica for years before she finally accepted to try to spend time with her. I understand where she comes from and why she felt the way she did, but she still went from being shown as a frigid b*tch in the first book, to being Danica’s ever loving sister, willing to do almost anything for her in this sequel, and I feel that she got off the hook a little too easily. Also, there was definitely "something" going on between Nathaniel and Evie, and I can't wait to see where this is going. I heard that Evie got her spinoff series, so hopefully, I will learn to like her a little more before the end of this series. But if her spinoff involved Nathaniel, I will read it just for him. He has this strong alpha vibe that I can't resist in book characters.

I am already 20% into the third book, and I can't stop reading this series, even though I have 2 other books that are very good that I started before this series. It is just addicting. 🤷‍♀️

This series is a drug because I'm very much addicted! I love, love, love the universe the author is fleshing out with these books! The characters are complex and painted in shades of grey. I don't know whether or not I can trust them but in the best way. It sounds odd, I know.

Danica is a really bad*ss character. She does things her way and gets them done even if it almost ends with her death in the process. I like that she doesn't let Samael boss her around. The chemistry between them is wafting off the pages though!

Samael is the definition of morally grey. I like him 80% of the time but then he pulls something out of left field that no one was expecting. I want to like him but he's making it difficult to stand by him. This also speaks to the level of thought the author has put into this series and its characters because there's a fine line between these things and she's staying on it like a pro.

With every end of a book, Samael gets a new revelation that makes me think twice about liking him (but he's so damn charming I can't help it!). If it hadn't been clear up to this point I'm very much invested in this series and I can't wait to dive into the next book!

Something is off 🤔

There is an interesting story here, but its almost like a song being played with some off-key notes blaring.

Some things just don't feel right, and makes everything just a little....tilted...I suppose, is the best explanation I have for it.

Dani's attitude can be very off putting, and the notion that she stole hair from Samael one crazy time party crashing, then went through a portal, all the way to a dragon guarded cave full of treasure looking for 1 small dagger that she stole and brought back to this world with pretty much no magic is just ludicrous!

That's what I mean about the off tune notes throughout the series though, there are just things that don't make sense, or are too far fetched to be believed.

On top of that, Dani's attitude problem is not cute or empowering at all. She's the type of person that is belligerent, contrary and argumentative, just because she thinks that's what it means to be a strong independent woman, but she just comes off like a child throwing a constant tantrum.

She also disembowels, tortures and kills a guy who she finds out made a woman strip in the bathroom with a camera going...yea, there is no way what that guy did was okay, but the reaction she had was insane, and then blamed on her new powers emerging.😈

She feels bad about it for like 2 seconds and then moves on. 😲

We finally find out who her daddy is, and why she's so special, so that's a plus for this book...I don't know, I'm hoping things get better in the next book.

Really enjoying this series. I love how things are unfolding, and the tension between Dani and Samael. And imo he's still walking that line of forgivable alpha-hole, but I know that's a taste thing so YMMV. For me ... it is because whether he says it or no, he's very, very careful to never put her into a position that she would find violating.

Because, like I mentioned in my review of book 1, his POV chapters help us know that he's not some mad tyrant bent on using her. He cares. So I want to know his reasoning.

And I want them to be better at communicating with each other, but that will come as the relationship evolves.

Despite the five star rating, this will not be a positive review.
I have read this bokseries so many times, and I love it beyond words.
I am however not going to go into the details of why I love it.
I just need to address something that bothers me with a subplot of sorts that takes place in the entirety of the series.

That subplot is Evie.
She is Danica’s sister, and she will have two books dedicated to her later on, in a spin off.
But she is still a major part of this one.
And at certain times, it feels like the books focuses more on Evie and the mystery around her birth than on Danica herself. Which bothers me, especially since Evie gets her own books.

But it is more than that. And I am bringing it up in a review of this book, because this is where she starts to be more involved.
My greatest issue with the subplot of Evie is how every one feels sorry for her, and no one seems to see Danica’s side. Not even Danica.

Short recap.
When Danica and Evie were children their mother took Danica away from the witches, and left Evie behind. We have seen this happen in a flashback, and we see both Danica and Evie struggle to not be separated.
And then their mother dies, and Danica comes back to tell Evie. She tells Danica to leave and shuts the door in her face.
And yet, somehow, Danica is in the wrong because she didn’t stay. Like WHAT???
Even Danica says she should have stayed because Evie was only a child at the time, but despite being two years older, Danica was not an adult either. She wasn’t even 18.
And Evie had a home, and a family (her coven), that supported her through her childhood.
Danica had a paranoid mother, and a trainer that worked her to the bone.

But everyone talks about how Evie is so used to people abandoning her, and Vas even made a comment about how Evie is trying so hard to impress Danica so she won’t have a reason to leave her again.
As if it is Danica’s fault.
It isn’t.
And when Danica got offended by his comment, he simply said “I call it like I see it.” And she started to question herself and her actions. It was entirely unfair.

Now that I know pretty much everything that happens in the series by heart - because I truly love everything with Danica and Samael, and her detective side - I have to skip over the parts where there is any discussion around Evie.
Even when she has her own books, Nathaniel makes a comment about how Danica should have tried harder because Evie was only a child at the time and needed her sister.

Why can no one talk about how Danica lost her family and friends and sister, and how it must feel for her to be turned away by not only her sister, but her entire previous coven, whom she used to consider family.
Or how she was basically alone from that moment forth.
Or how she became so reckless with her life that she “stole a dagger from one of the most powerful paranormals in the country”- samael’s words - in order to solve her mother’s murder.
It doesn’t take therapist to realise that she wasn’t exactly living life as if she actually valued it.
And we saw in the first book how much it pained her that she and Evie weren’t close, but she never got an apology for Evie’s role in it. Every time it’s brought up Evie just tries to defend herself, unable to see her own part in the problem.

And we see how Danica doesn’t really know how to make friends. Mostly with Vas, like when she tried to comfort him in the first book by telling him she didn’t want them to stop being friends even though she wanted out of the deal she had with Samael.
Like, she literally had no one in her life. But in this book Evie goes on about how she had all her coven members be there for her to teach her magic, help her through her heartbreak and do stuff like buy her chocolate when she first got her period. And she did this in an attempt to get Danica to see how her side of the story. And feel bad for her!
Danica got a mother that suppressed her magic, opening up a door for catastrophe when that suppression spell eventually wore off, and a trainer that would take something - like her love for wearing heels because she thought it would make her normal - and ruin it, by torturing her.
Well, he made her train in heels for hours straight for several days, and she said she never wore heels since because it was ruined for her.

I am done ranting now.
Despite my ranting, don’t let this persuade you to not read it. If you loved or at least liked the first book, which I am assuming you did since you are on the second book, everything except this part will be great and better and fantastic.

I liked this one better than book 1! Our couple was on page together more, and I enjoy their push and pull. These are very monster of the week, fun, popcorn reads, so I don't know that any will become a new favorite, but I do enjoy my time and plan to continue the series.

Aggravating that Dani continues to bury her head in the sand and willfully believe the worst of Samael in every way. Also, so frustrating as a reader to see the back and forth between them as a couple- YES! I want to sleep with you! NO! I hate you! YES! I will help you if it benefits me! NO! I will go to ridiculous lengths to deny I feel anything for you!

The drama was over the top, and eclipsed all the headway that they made as a couple. And I absolutely hated the ending, because the author is setting us up for more unnecessary drama in the next installment too. I may be done with this series, even though I thought it had potential.

The second book of the Deal with Demons series is just as brilliant and epic as the first. We learn more about the characters and dive deeper into this wonderful world that Stark has created.

I like that we got to see a little more about Samael. He's still an enigma in that Danica refuses to truly let him get close, so all we continue to see is him as a demon overlord that (most) everyone is terrified of. I'm hoping we get to get more of his POV in the next books.

Danica, like always, is snarky and fierce. Her sense of humor and sarcasm is hilarious. It's a little frustrating how stubborn she is sometimes though. I'm really happy that we get to see her sister more. I'm glad they're healing their relationship.

There werent a lot of side characters in this book. While they were there, we didn't see them nearly as much as in the first book. We focused more on Danica herself as well as Samael.

There isn't as much sexual tension in this book as the last one, however the sexy times are pretty steamy. They finally take that leap and it leaves Danica more confused than ever.

On to the next!

Fun series! I’m liking Samael more and more, Danica gets on my nerves when she acts like a whiny child every.single.time she’s around Samael, but both characters are interesting and the plot is intriguing enough that I want to keep reading… into the night. On to the next one fast!

Overall: 3/5

Plot and themes: 3/5

Characters: 3/5

Writing style: 3/5

Attention-grabbing: 4/5

Dance with the Demon is the second installment of Danica's journey in the Deals with Demons universe. She's still bonded to Samael and has no way of knowing how to get out of it- to make matters worse the whole world now knows that she saved his life and she's being shunned for it. Her powers are also completely out of control and she has no way of knowing if her parentage has anything to do with it because she has never known her father and she's still on the hunt for her father's killer.

Very mixed feelings with this book. On the one hand, it's entertaining and kept most of my attention till the end. On the other, the protagonist is so freaking wishy washy that it's driving me insane. I understand that she's been told to perceive demons a certain way and I wouldn't expect her to just jump into anything, but she basically did just jump into something and then tried to back out of it then jumped back in? I think that their relationship is a series of his manipulations and attempts at micromanaging her. Then the author backtracks and tries to justify it as the protag being strong-willed when it really feels more like she's being beaten into the ground.

That's an aggressive read on it, like I said I did enjoy most of what was going on. I just think that it's really hard to manage such a large age difference without it seeming like total bullshit. I'll still be reading the next book in the series cause I do enjoy the premise, I just think we definitely need this bond to be absolved for their relationship to go anywhere.

Round 2 of Deals with Demons and I am entranced!

I shall say again Dani is such a bad ass. Here we have woman who has enjoyed...aka rumbled in the sheets... with Samael but has not let that dictate who she is or what her mission is. So many times the FMC gets a little and then all of her determination to be independent flies out the window. Dani not only remains herself, but she does so with confidence and ass kicking.

I mean what can you say about Samael....he is everything you would expect a demon to be. However, what surprises me is his patience. Granted he has bonded Dani and refuses to release her...the twist is he has allowed her to remain living her life as she sees fit. He could force her to be by his side but he is biding his time. Sexy and intriguing.... bet when he snaps the pages will burn.

Exceptional storyline. When one mystery is solved Stark slides right into the next dilemma without missing a beat. LOVE the secondary characters. Stark is sprinkling in a new one here and there which I love and I love her additions!

Book 3 here I come!!

Happy reading,
DD🥂

Struggling to rate this.

I’m really waiting for the relationship development between Danica and Samael but it still hasn’t happened.

They have sex in this book, but it felt like it kinda came out of nowhere. Danica seems to have more sexual chemistry with Vas, if you ask me 🤣

I understand that Samael is too much of a leader to be running around Durham with Danica but he almost feels like an afterthought and I’m not sure how I feel about that.

The ending left a bad taste in my mouth. Danica is showing symptoms of TSTL and I’m not sure how I feel about her stubbornness.

I’m more invested in the werewolf alpha and Evie and Vas and Mere than I am in the protagonists at this point.

Still waiting for that chemistry to show up, despite Stark's attempts at making us believing it's there.
Samael is such an hateable character:his POVs only drive that point further thanks to his inhumanity and selfishness and red flag worthy vibes.
I enjoyed that this one had a snappier pace that made the read go by faster, plus the mystery was very enjoyable.

This is the second book in the series and I enjoyed it as much as the first. Its basically just good, old fashioned Urban Fantasy that just seems to work.

I was a a bit annoyed at the direction Dannica and Samael's relationship went at the end, but I guess we'll see where the angst will go in the next book!

Read the first one, then read this one. It will solve all your problems.

I just finished this book, and I LOVED it. ❤

It was everything and more I thought it would be, after book one being a lot of world and character building this is very story driven.

The overall story arc is developing a great deal, and I cannot wait to see where it takes us.

We get a look at some of the other worlds and their politics, that includes the humans.

Some of my hunches were right but I have a feeling there is much more.😐

Some big bombshells are being revealed.😱

I loved her very real relationship with her sister, the good, the bad and the ugly ...you know?

I wasn't sure about Samuel in last book, but I love him now, he still a bit too alpha at points but he knows when to take a step back and let her handle it ... which I love.

Vas, still one of my favorites and I hope we get more of him, like lots more… like, his own books more lol. Oh lord I hope I have not jinxed him now since there are a few more books to come. 😬

Of course I love Dani, she is the perfect mix of everything. I can’t wait to see what is to come for her. She is coming more and more into some power, and she is struggling with it and struggling to control it which keep you un the edge of your seat at times.

The books are perfect mix between humor, action, suspense and spice 😂💪😬🌶️

Overall, I loved it and already downloaded book 3 to the kindle, I rate it a strong 4 or even 4.5, so far, I can totally see rereading them again.

Dance With the Demon was a fabulous continuation of the Deals with Demons Series!  Grimoires, bargains, prophecies, and betrayal swept through the story making it another addictive read!  I loved that we learned more about Danica's life.  And her interactions with others like Gary, Mella and her sister, Evie.  Evie was one of my favorites because she cracked me up and I'm so excited that she got her own spinoff series!  But beware, because there were others within this story who will make you simmer with rage.
“I have lost everyone who ever mattered to me,” he hissed. “I won’t lose you too.”

Regardless of how Danica thought it would all play out, she found herself bonded with Samael.  I got her anger and rage.  Even if I was secretly excited about it since it was Samael *hides face*.  Because no matter what happened, Samael always protected her.  He was kind, thoughtful and tried his best to take care of her.  Or at least he did what he thought was best.  But then in the blink of an eye he had no problem going to his darker side.  I absolutely loved his morally grey self!  Yet Danica fought him every step of the way, since he had stolen her freedom.  Through it all they continued to have the most delicious sexual tension, a date that left me screaming with excitement and some moments that were hot, hot, hot!
I slowly brushed one finger along the edge of the closest feather as he silently watched me.
“You’re beautiful,” I admitted.
He nodded. “I know.”
I burst out laughing, and he took the opportunity to climb onto the bed with me and capture my mouth with his. His wings blocked out the light, and it was as if the world had disappeared, and we were the only two people who existed.

In Dance with the Demon we got to know Samael better.  Oh he was such a tortured soul.  He had a horrific past that still haunted him to this day.  And it made sense why he was the way he was.  There was so much more to him than meets the eye.  And that had me falling harder for him.  The gestures he made were beautiful, I even got tears in my eyes.  And seeing that Danica was his humanity warmed my heart time and again.  So I couldn't get enough of the moments when Samael and Danica were together!  We also got to see another side of Danica in this story.  Yes she faced things she didn't want to.  But she also allowed herself to break down and my heart ached for her.
I'd let him in, I realized. Somewhere along the way, I'd let him crawl beneath my rib cage, and he was buried there, where my fucking heart should be.
I was going to be sick.

This story played out like a movie in my head.  I can't recommend it enough for fans of paranormal and urban fantasy! There was adventure, friendship, passion and so many different creatures that I was fascinated learning about. I also enjoyed that this story brought about more of a familial side, with Gary's kids. I loved watching Samael interact with them. And of course again there's so much I can't talk about. But it was so much fun and I read this book way too quickly!

Totally Riveting!

I loved this story! Every time I think I know where this story is going, the author throws in a curveball. The two main characters, Samael and Danica are a perfect match for each other. Both are stubborn, passionate and determined and although Danica might not want to admit it, totally enamored with each other. It has all the elements that make this a real page turner. To get the full scope of the story, I would recommend book one, Speak of the Demon. Well done, Stacia Stark!

The back and forth between them both was a little excessive but I kinda figured it would be like this sense most series this long have to prolong the love aspect.

So going into this knowing the back and forth was going to be ridiculous it was a little bit easier to ignore it lol.

The storyline is very interesting, and the world building is captivating. It is an addicting series that I look forward to finishing. This authors other books also look really good too, so I’ll add them to my tbr.
