Carolyn Keene is a writer pen name that was used by many different people- both men and women- over the years. The company that was the creator of the Nancy Drew series, the Stratemeyer Syndicate, hired a variety of writers. For Nancy Drew, the writers used the pseudonym Carolyn Keene to assure anonymity of the creator.

Edna and Harriet Stratemeyer inherited the company from their father Edward Stratemeyer. Edna contributed 10 plot outlines before passing the reins to her sister Harriet. It was Mildred Benson (aka: Mildred A. Wirt), who breathed such a feisty spirit into Nancy's character. Mildred wrote 23 of the original 30 Nancy Drew Mystery Stories®, including the first three. It was her characterization that helped make Nancy an instant hit. The Stratemeyer Syndicate's devotion to the series over the years under the reins of Harriet Stratemeyer Adams helped to keep the series alive and on store shelves for each succeeding generation of girls and boys. In 1959, Harriet, along with several writers, began a 25-year project to revise the earlier Carolyn Keene novels. The Nancy Drew books were condensed, racial stereotypes were removed, and the language was updated. In a few cases, outdated plots were completely rewritten.

Other writers of Nancy Drew volumes include Harriet herself, she wrote most of the series after Mildred quit writing for the Syndicate and in 1959 began a revision of the first 34 texts. The role of the writer of "Carolyn Keene" passed temporarily to Walter Karig who wrote three novels during the Great Depression. Also contributing to Nancy Drew's prolific existence were Leslie McFarlane, James Duncan Lawrence, Nancy Axelrod, Priscilla Doll, Charles Strong, Alma Sasse, Wilhelmina Rankin, George Waller Jr., and Margaret Scherf.

This latest version of Nancy Drew is no match to the old ones published during the fifties. Those were much gripping than these.
Nevertheless, Nancy is the same. I was quite surprised at how easy it was to read the book.
No sudden twists; no complications. A very simple and typical Nancy Drew book. Though I have to admit, having to read three books to get to the bottom of the mysterious incidents at Casa Verde is a bit unnerving.
Compared to "Green Eyed Monster", (Eco Mystery Trilogy, #1) this book was a little fast paced. Nancy escaped death a few times, thanks to sheer luck.
Otherwise, Nancy Drew: Girl Detective series are not as impressive as the older series. Disappointed.

I think I liked this one but I honestly can't remember much of it. That's not intended to be a slight at the book, I just don't recall the early moments. I enjoyed the twist that Nancy starts being attacked for some reason and the sabotage is more dramatic than other books where there is actually danger involved. Still wish the whole anonymous note thing could be retired from mystery novels.

The Mystery still hasn't been solved. It requires a part 3.

I like how this one says that Bess won the trip, not George. You'd think you could keep continuity in the same trilogy!

Okay, it's book two in the trilogy and problems pop up immediately. And I don't mean problems for Nancy and gang down at Casa Verde. I mean for the editors and ghost writers who made a glaring continuity error on page 5. Page 5! We're not even one chapter in and already they've forgotten that in book one George won the vacation, not Bess. Nothing kills an episodic story faster for me than continuity errors.

Story continues on, another fake culprit is revealed, and now I'm getting bored with nothing getting resolved. On to book three.

Nancy Drew along with her best friends Bess Marvin and George Fayne, attended a movie shoot at resort Casa Verde. It's not every day you walk in, to find an enormous dead sea turtle bleeding all over the lobby of the resort where your staying and there her mystery begins.

There is no way this story is worthy of 3 books. It feels like its never going to end.

The first part seemed pretty good enough but I thought that there was no need to make a second part. Thiss book seemed as though the author was trying to stretch things a lot .
