I enjoyed this racy little story - felt like I’d time-travelled back to the groovy 60s and was right there alongside all those seedy characters as they scratched and crawled their way through a poison ivy patch of corruption, sex, drugs and violence (that was the recording industry). Am guessing it was probably a little too close to the truth for Motown bigwigs... Would make a fantastic movie, even today.

If you knew anything about Motown in the 60's you "know" that was the inspiration for this novel. Being a Detroit resident, we heard all the "gossip" about things at Motown that were based on some of the true events. I enjoyed the book and was riveted to each page as I read about my teenage idols. Yes, it was easy to identify the people who were the inspiration for the characters in the book. If you do some research, you can find the book review, newspaper article about that book.
Although the setting is Houston, the similarities are there.
