The Clumsy Crab is a great story by Ruth Galloway. This is a story for early readers. This story teaches friendship and that everyone has great abilities.

Nipper the crab doesn't like his crabby claws. They are big and clumsy. He can't play catch the bubble with his friends because his clumsy claws always burst the bubbles. He tried to play tag but he tripped and stumbled. During a game of hide and seek with his friends he was counting and heard Octopus yell for help. He was tangled in seaweed. Nipper used his claws to snip away at the seaweed to rescue his friend.

Ruth has created a wonderfully colorful under water environment. The pictures are vivid and the sea creatures are cute.

My 3-year old sat still through the whole reading (which is extremely unusual) then demanded I read it again and again. This equals a 5-star review to me.

...also, it is a great book in general. Self-love is an important topic at any age.

Simple story about a crab who is embarrassed by his clumsy claws, until he uses them to save the day. Cute but not very memorable, and a common trope in kids' entertainment.

A really cute, wonderfully colorful story about diversity and making the most of whatever assets you have. Vivid illustrations that pop off the pages.

Cute story with a poignant message of "Your perceived "less desirable" features may be quite wonderful."

I enjoyed this book. It has colorful illustrations that go along well with the story. I loved the ending and all the onomatopoeia in the story.

A good ending. The crab bursting out of the shell was pretty funny.

It’s rare for my 2 year old to sit through a book with much substance but he loved this one and sat to listen to the entire thing, naming all the sea creatures in the illustrations.

This book is about a very clumsy crab named Nipper. This crab has huge claws that usually tend to get in the way of everything. His claws are so big they even get in the way when he is just trying to play with his friends. One day though, his claws become every useful! One of his friends ends up being caught in seaweed. Without Nipper, his friend would not have been saved!

I really enjoyed this book! My favorite aspect were how friendly the illustrations were and the emotions the crab had!

This would be great book to use in a classroom to teach students that it is okay to feel different than other kids! In the end, everyones different talents come in handy!

This book has an important message that will be valuable to young children. We are all different but special in our own way. This book can serve as a confidence booster and also let students know that while we all may have different physical characteristics they make us who we are and we should embrace them. This could be read to a class when an issue arises or just as part of the regular yearly class books.

This would be a fun book to use in an "Under the Sea" storytime.

Excerpt: "Nipper the Crab hated his huge, clumsy claws. Snip, snap! Clip, clap! No matter how hard he tried, they always got in the way."

Nipper's claws always get in the way, until Octopus gets tangled in some seaweed and Nipper is the only one that can help him.

This is a sweet story about how one crab turns his weakness into a strength. The illustrations are brightly colored and fun.

The Crab in this book is embarrassed of his big claws and thinks that they are useless and get in the way. When Octopus gets stuck in some seaweed, Nipper (the crab) is able to clip the seaweed away and free him. This helps him realize that he has a strength after all. This is a great book for self-esteem and disabilities.

Clumsy Crab is well...clumsy. He can't seem to get through a game with his ocean friends without ruining it for them. It turns out his claws come in useful in at least one game of hide-n-seek, thus justifying his crabby existence! Voila!

This book is great for younger children when learning about "ocean life". It mentions various animals you would see under sea and great illustrations of what ocean life looks like. It would be a great introductory to an ocean lesson.

Crab is feeling clumsy because he breaks everything with his claws, but when Octapus gets caught in some seaweed, they need Crab's claws to get him out. I like this book because everyone has something they don't like about themselves, but we need to see how it can turn to good.

Another cutesy, feel good picture book about a crab who doesn't like his big claws because they get in the way, until he discovers what they are really good for. A little message heavy for my tastes.
