In Chasing Blue, Sasha and her horse, Charm, have proven that they’re worthy competitors for the elite Canterwood Crest equestrian team. Things are definitely looking up . . . until Sasha finds out who her riding partner for the semester her archnemesis, Queen Bee Heather. Not. Good. And when Heather starts spending a little too much QT with Sasha’s almost-boyfriend, Jacob, the partnership is put to the ultimate test. The tension builds in Behind the Bit when Sasha and her team are accepted to a prestigious horse clinic. Can Sasha and Callie work together when it counts?

Callie tries to tell Sasha that she didn't mean it to happen but Sasha is too mad at her to listen. They now are best friends once again. THe only trouble is that now Eric just asked her to be his girlfriend! She says yes but it too afriad to tell anyone because of what had happened with her last boyfriend. Eric then thinks that she doesn't want to be with him. At Paige's party Jasmine threatens to tell everyone and makes up a lie telling Sasha that Callie and her ex-boyfriend (Jacob) already know and they were furious! So Eric gets mad at Sasha telling her that he doesn't know what to think anymore and Sasha is crushed. Then two girls on Sasha's advanced riding team are caught "cheating." So know that they are kicked off who will get the spot, and will Sasha and Eric every get their relationship back?
I give this 5 stars because it was a FABULOUS book!!! It was fun to read, it had a lot of twists, and it is totally realistic so you can relate to it.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes romance and horses with school mixed in it. It is a really cute book and the romance it not cheesy so you won't want to throw up when you read it.
Sasha's still reeling from the Callie/Jacob news. She's hurt beyond belief and she can't deal with looking at them, let alone talking to them. Plus, she's still not able to ride thanks to the stunt the Belle's pulled on their team. With nothing left to do, she's been groom Charm like crazy and paying attention to her school work so she won't fall behind again. A bonus to hanging around the stable -seeing Eric. When he confesses that he wants to date her, she's over the moon. But she's unwilling to take their relationship public after what happened with Jacob and the Trio. But the Trio have their hands full with newcomer Jas. Jas has pulled too many tricks on them to bury the hatchet and no one on the team trusts her. Does she have another trick up her sleeve? Once riding starts up again, Sasha's pulled in all directions - Callie wants to patch things up, Eric wants to take her out on a date, and Paige's TV debut is just weeks away. Can Sasha juggle everything and keep everyone happy?
Two days ago I went to 2 area bookstores looking for this book. I didn't find it at either, but the next day at work it came in. I asked nicely if it could be processed right away and luckily for me, it was. I devoured it the next day. The covers rock - so fresh and fun and featuring cute riding gear. The books always make me want to go riding. I adore these books - an incredibly sweet and perfect blend of friendship, horses, drama, and romance.

*sigh* I expected more from this book. I know it is written for elementary school aged girls, but 13-year-old Kristen would have given this novel a 1 star rating. I would have been very upset by the amount of needless drama stemming from misunderstandings (come on Sasha, use some common sense), and the 'prissy-ness' of the female characters. I didn't start wearing makeup until my 20s. I had absolutely not desire to do so at 13. Some times, I am convinced this novel was written to sell lip gloss to its young readers. In my experience as a preteen, most of the girls at my horse back riding barn, myself included, were tomboys. While I danced ballet and liked 'girly' colours, I had absolutely no interest in clothes or makeup. When I was in grade 5-8, I longed for a series about girls who horse back rode and were my age. There were a couple of them, but I read through them very quickly and was left wanting something more. I would have been excited by Canterwood Crest but terribly disappointed. WHY DO ALL OF THE MAIN FEMALE CHARACTERS IN THIS NOVEL (minus Paige, who, to my 20-something-year- old self seems like she might be a lesbian) HAVE BOYFRIENDS? What do you even 'do' with boyfriends at that age? Walk around holding hands? While I acknowledge I started dating very, very late in life, I don't think I'm an exception for not dating while in elementary school. I most certainly had crushes, but even if they had returned my affections, I don't think it would have gone anywhere. I was too busy horse back riding, playing soccer and keeping my grades up! I really wish Heather were the protagonist in this series. Sasha is so dull. She's nice, she's pretty, she's loyal and sweet, but she has no spunk. Heather is stubborn, determined, intelligent and prone to anger and jealousy, which is what I love about her. She's gutsy and relateable. I liked that she played a more central role in this novel, but her two best friends, Allison and Julia, are still interchangeably underdeveloped. They might as well have been merged into one character. So, 13-year-old Kristen rates this novel 1 star because the characters are boy crazy, prissy (fashion and makeup obsessed), and there is not nearly enough drama and plot line dedicated to horses and horse back riding. 24-year-old Kristen won't give this book 1 star because it was mildly enjoyable and did involve horses; one stars as reserved for novels that should be used to start bonfires, and this book is too good for that, yet not good enough to satisfy me at any age.
OMG I love these books they are have you wondering what will happen next.they have a little romance and all the mean girls and the chapter names a really good! If you like horses and you a girl you will love this book!
Personal Response: I really liked this book because it dealt with horses. I also liked how Sasha always looked out for her horse: Charm. Another thing I liked, was how Paige’s and Sasha's friendship was really close.
Plot: In the beginning of the book, Eric and Sasha are in the barn. Right before Eric kissed Sasha, Mr. Connor walked in and asked Eric for help with the horses. Sasha then walked back to her dorm room: Winchester. When Sasha walked inside, Jas was moving into the room down the hall. After a couple chapters, Jas tried out for the Advance Team but didn't make it because she was very mean to her horse, Phoenix. Throughout this book, Sasha and Paige planned a party for Paige because she was a host for a television show. Sasha planned at the party to announce that she was dating Eric. While at the party, Jas showed up and threatened to tell Callie about Sasha dating Eric before Sasha was ready. Eric got upset at the party because he thought Sasha didn't actually like him. Near the end of the book, Sasha told Callie about her relationship with Eric and Callie was happy for her. As Sasha walked out of English class, headmistress Drake escorted Allison and Julia out of the history room because they got caught cheating.
Characterization: The main character in this book was Sasha. Sasha was roommates with Paige. Sasha wanted to keep her relationship with Eric on the down low because she didn't want it to get ruined. Another main character was Heather. Heather was the leader of the trio. The trio consisted of: Heather, Julia, and Alison. Heather was always portrayed as this very popular, mean girl.
Setting: This book took place in Connecticut at Canterwood in present time. It is easy to see that this book took place in the present because the characters use cell phones to talk to each other. The main reason this book took place in Connecticut was because the students live on Canterwood campus.
Theme: The theme for this book would be don't let jealousy get in the way of friendships. This was the theme because Eric and Sasha always got jealous of each other because they thought they liked someone else when they actually liked each other. This would also be the theme because Sasha got jealous of her teammates’ riding and it messed up her riding.
Recommendation: I would recommend this book to anyone who has read the first couple books in the series. I would also recommend this book to middle schoolers because the reading level was low for high school students. I would recommend this book to middle school girls because they could relate best with this book and the main characters. This book would be a great book for anyone who loves to read about drama and horses because it has a lot of drama and horses.
Sasha lowkey annoyed me in this one lol. but if I read a series long enough, all main characters become annoying to me😂 they just all seem selfish. am I the only one ???
I think there could have been more romance. Burkhart is amazing at details. She can make you imagine anything. I wish there was less drama with Jas. It was kind of obnoxious. I'm very happy of the out comes of the relationships. I wish I lived at Canterwood. The campus sounds so beautiful. The library and the barn sounds like a great place to forget about school work and drama. I love this series so much. Even with the drama and bullying parts. The only reason why I don't put the book down is because Burkhart does such a great job explaining things.
Sasha is kinda dull. Don't get me wrong, she's loyal and sweet, but she doesn't use her common sense in this book. I think Heather should be the main character of the series because she's gutsy, determined and voices her opinions. Hardly anything revolves around horses, just relationships and friendship issues. These characters are 12-13!? Book three was centred around boys as well. The girls are supposed to be a Canterwood for the riding programme, not relationships and bad friends. Sasha, buck up! Boys aren't everything, especially at this age.
The covers of the books are cute and all, but riding isn't always about looking nice. OK, they're models, but can't there be a few 'normal' riding outfits, maybe even the Canterwood uniform? Why are all the girls obsessed with makeup too? The books are more like a lip gloss advert!
A few things to take away from this are- - Make the girls less dating obsessed - Make Sasha a little less dull and brainless - Make it more horsey
Triple Fault was pretty good. Thr first book was really bad so alot of people didn't bother reading the rest but if you do you will not regret it! By book 3 things get super dramatic. Alot of people say this is a typical novel but after book 3 the Belles come in, the cliques get switched and out of it comes Triple Fault. This book was mainly drama so if you want a book about horses you might want to find another one. But some of the other books have more horse focus, this one didn't because the girls couldn't ride during this one for most of the time. Overall a good book.
Great book I love that Callie and Sasha are friends again and that they have agreed to no more secrets Eric seems nice and Jacob has turn into a jerk This is a great book so read it!

This series is fantastic! I'm loving it so much and recommend it to kids and adults. There is a boyfriend-related storyline but I'm sure it will be fine for 9-13 year olds. I'm so glad I had some time in the past 2 weeks to be able to finish books 3 and 4. There is a character who loves to bake and I thought she was great! There is also a group that brings drama to the table in case you enjoy that kind of storyline.
I am having a crisis. I don’t have the next book in the series it doesn’t get here for at least 2 days but then I will have 5-8 of the books. Why did it end like that I won’t be able to read what happens for like 2 more days. Like I believe Allison, I am not sure about Julia but Allison would never do that. I Guarantee that it has to do with violets group. I can’t wait for the next book. This series is so good literally love it so much!!!! 5 ⭐️
This is an amazing book. It includes animals and life. I recommend this book for ages 9-13. This book kept me hooked to the very ending! I loved so much that I never wanted to put the book down.
Would have liked more riding and less petty bickering! Maybe book 5 will have held all friends again and more riding completion and showing cross country!
