It always makes my heart happy to dive back into the world that Sara Blackard has created. She perfectly weaves romance, suspense and mystery to the rugged backdrop of Alaska.
Tiikaan is a wonderful MMC who wants to prove himself and protect those he loves but he also has doubts about what he really can do. I loved seeing him grow and embrace what makes him unique and what he can bring to the table. I loved his bantering with Merritt and the way he wanted to keep her safe.
Merritt was a chameleon and I adored every part of her. I loved that she didn't let the fact that her own family disliked her from becoming cold hearted like them. I love that she wanted to prove she could manage her dad's company and solve the mystery surrounding his death as well.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat as they battled unknown dangers, the perils of the Alaskan wilderness and grizzly bears.
Read it in one sitting and couldn't put it down!
Physical Intimacy Level 2 (Non descriptive longer kisses) Zero Swearing Dual 1st Person POV
A Rebel's Shot is an exciting book set in Alaska. Tiikaan has a business close to being bankrupt. But hopefully, he can get out of the hole by flying a big shot executive named Merritt. What a surprise that Merritt is a female. Merritt has inherited her father's mining business and is trying to learn the ropes, but someone wants her dead. Now, she wonders if her father's death was really murder. Add in betrayal and being lost in the woods. While trying constantly to stay alive, you have a real page turner. With a shocking ending.
"I always loved a good family reunion." Merritt is looking forward to the gathering that will blow up everything she's known to be true in her life. Left in the wilderness for dead, Merritt and Tikaan must survive to bring down the man responsible for that and many other dispicable things.
Come along for this suspense-filled, action-packed Alaskan adventure. I highly recommend this story for all who love clean adventure.
I was given an ARC from the author. However, the review is my opinion and done of my own volition.
Tiikâan Rebel, a Native Alaskan by birth, felt overshadowed by his larger-than-life siblings all throughout the novel, A Rebel’s Shot by Sara Blackard. Tiikâan knew that his company was on the verge of bankruptcy, however, this gig he had accepted chartering an Oil Executive around for the summer, would help him stay in the game. As much as it grated against his passion of living wild and free, Tiikâan knew that he needed to prove to himself, and his family, that he could succeed doing what he loved and wanted. Merritt Harland was desperate to erase the past and bring her father back to the land of the living, however, she knew she had to soldier on. As the interim CEO of her dad’s company, she had to make sure that everything was handled with the utmost care and on the straight and narrow. Her experience of helping others in war-torn lands had taught her how to school her expressions and dig deep within to her faith to win whatever battle was before her. Deep inside, Merritt suspected that her father had not died of a heart attack – but feared that foul play had taken him out of the game of helping others. Therefore, she had to take her father’s words to heart and trust no one. Then, she met Tiikâan and almost immediately after hiring him, knew she had an ally on her side. A Rebel’s Shot was a tactically wonderful read through frustration, fear, and tons of danger from the native lands of Alaska. However, this book held more than a tactical advantage – it held the promises of hope and the soul’s belief in an enduring love that would last a lifetime. From their first meeting, Merritt had trusted Tiikâan Rebel by her side, from the dangers that were man made as well as natural. Together, they battled the fight ahead and remained strong, even as his entire Rebel family showed up defending their weaknesses. I give A Rebel’s Shot 4 out of 5 stars. The game that he loved – flying, was enough to endear Tiikâan to me. When Merritt’s strength seemed to force her to follow her heart, I truly couldn’t get enough!! I loved reading about the natural, beautiful, and dangerous life of Alaska and the utter devotion of an entire family who would drop everything to run defensively to Tiikâan’s side. But, in the end, I couldn’t get enough of the faith that they lived on for days without end.
This is book four in The Alaskan Rebels series and it is Tiikâan and Merritt’s story and omg it is definitely a must read. Merritt never wanted to be part of the mining empire that her father had built but when he died unexpectedly it is Merritt that had to become CEO and also she needed to investigate what exactly happened to her father because something just doesn’t feel right and she thinks that her step-family is involved. Tiikaan runs his own hiking, guide and hunting business but his business is suffering so he needs a injection of money if he had any hope of surviving and keeping his business going so when Merritt who is CEO of Hartland Global Resources Mining Company needs a pilot to travel back and forth to the mine for a few months she asks Tiikaan to take the job and because it will help him financially and may be the answer to his problems he says yes hoping that things will work out. When Tiikaan and Merritt meet he is definitely surprised as he thought that it was a man who hired him but the more time that they spent together the attraction between them grew stronger and eventually feeling started to grow and they both realised that they wanted a future together only then there was a twist when she found out what had happened to her father which threw her for a loop while leaving her feeling betrayed, angry, devastated and determined to bring those people involved to justice. Tiikaan and Merritt now find themselves in grave danger and now it will be a race against time and the Alaskan weather while working together so that they can survive and be rescued in time and get justice for her father’s murder and also put them in jail for what they have done. There are twists and turns along with many dangerous situations that will have you on the edge of your seat while holding your breath wondering what will happen next and also what the outcome will be in the end. This book will take you on a rollercoaster ride of so many different emotions and it will have you turning the pages and unable to put this book down because it will pull you in right from the start and keep your attention throughout because it is so addictive. Sara Blackard is a amazing author and writer and her books are definitely worth reading and I can’t wait to read more books in the future.
I just love, love, love Sara Blackard's books. I haven't read any of her Romantic Comedy books yet, but I love her Romantic Suspense Books. Especially since they have a thread of reliance on God for help in basically any and all situations, whether it be what I am I supposed to do with this relatonship that I don't know where it's going, or help me get out of this alive and hopefully in one piece, or in Tiikâan and Merrit's case it's feeling very inferior to their family and like a failure and so I can't do this alone help me because this other person is worth it even if I don't think I am.
It show a real faith in a real God in action in the lives of real characters, not just in the good times when life is all sunshine and roses, but also in the tough times when it feels like life and almost the very air your breathing is against you. The characters are also more than just the bare minimum too get the story told, most of the characters, even the ones who seem shallow and you don't hear much about, feels like you can have an entire book written about who they are and still not know them entirely, like with real human beings.
To me the characters feel like beloved friends that I get to hang out with and go on adventures with, and when a previous character shows up it feels like a reunion with a friend I saw long ago. Like when the Stryker Team shows up or gets mentioned, it feels like I know them and I know who they are, almost like I can meet them in person somewhere instead of them just being charaters in a book that I read and then the book end and it's a think of okay bye nice book, next one?
So I definitely would recommend people to try her books even if they may sound different to what you normally read, you may find you like it. My first Sara Blackard book was Time Travel based off of an event in the Bible and the fact that God can make the impossible happen, Time Travel is a genre that I am usually very cautious with because it can get weird (in my opinion) and the Idea of a somewhat Bible based one seemed even weirder. I fell in love with the Vestige in Time series, and then just all of the books I read by Sara Blackard and that is why I still read them and suggest to give them a try even if they don't sound like your normal cup of tea.
Tiikâan has always felt inferior to his highly successful siblings, and the fact that his piloting business is almost bankrupt is another nail in the coffin. But the job he's landed this summer flying a CEO back and forth to their mine should get him back on his feet, however boring he expects it to be. But his passenger isn't at all the snooty businessman he expected - at least when she lets her guard down. Merritt never wanted her dad's business, but he left it to her anyway - throwing her to the wolves in the form of her step-family who did want it. When she starts to realise that things may not be what they seem and that her dad's death might not have been accidental, everything gets infinitely more complicated - and deadly. Tiikâan has promised to help all he can, but when the wilderness enters the equation, will even his experience keep them alive?
I loved most of this story, particularly the interactions between Tiikâan and Merritt, with the gradual growth of warmth and trust between them. The mystery/suspense side of thing was done well, with a good mix of hints and red herrings. Where the story kind of lost me was when they were out in the wilderness and felt like they were just stumbling from one deadly situation to another, each time escaping by the skin of their teeth and gradually accumulating injuries. It started to feel quite a stretch. Nevertheless, a good read overall and I enjoyed it - particularly the ending, which worked really well. Looking forward to more books in the series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wow! This book sucked me in right from the start. This is Tiikaan and Merrit's story. Tiikaan has taken a summer job flying a "hoity toity" executive back and forth from her lodgings to her family mining business. Merrit has unexpectedly inherited the business, and is in way over her head.... and her step mother and step siblings don't let her forget it. This story has corporate espionage, dirty dealings, murder and betrayal, along with a sweet love story. Once again, Ms Blackard not only includes good against evil suspense in her story, but also our two MC's being pitted against the harsh Alaskan wilderness in a struggle for survival. Merrit and Tiikaan are such believable characters. They have flaws, and they both have insecurities about not measuring up, but they both have untapped reserves of strength that gets them through the hardships they face. They both have a sincere Faith that, while nicely represented, is written in a quietly subtle, realistic manner by the author. Cameos by the rest of the Rebel clan are a lot of fun, but it is not at all necessary to have read any of the other Rebel books to enjoy this one. If you enjoy edge of your seat, toe curling romantic suspense, without the over the top spice, I highly recommend this book.
A Rebel’s Shot by Sara Blackard is another winner! I loved the characters and the plot kept me turning the pages - pacing was required in order to save myself from reading it in one sitting! Merritt Harland and Tiikaan Rebel are the main characters. They are both dealing with self-doubts. Merritt has inherited her father’s mining business in Alaska after his sudden death, and is struggling to see herself as worthy of being the CEO, which her step family reminds her of daily. Tiikaan is the youngest sibling in the Rebel family, and feels inferior next to his brother’s and sister’s accomplishments. He’s been hired by Merritt to fly her daily to the mining site as she learns about her new job. Merritt and Tiikaan must seek out who they can trust, including each other, as they race against a deadline (and maybe a killer) to discover if the mining operation is safe for the environment and if Merritt’s father’s death was truly an accident. Set in the wilds of Alaska, this has all of the adventures I will ever want from the comfort of my chair. Discover adventure, suspense, family (who doesn’t love the Rebel family??), and romance in this amazing story! I have loved every single one of Sara’s books. This one is another keeper!
Sara Blackard sure knows how to start a book off right! Feel the peace and quiet of the Alaskan woods. You’re there in the rainy bush and then, Bam! the adrenaline rush of certain death!!
I loved Sara Blackard’s latest novel. I easily slipped back into her easy writing style and joined her latest main characters Tiikâan Rebel and Merritt Harland on their exploits in the far Alaskan north.
Tiikâan is a cinnamon roll hero with feelings of inadequacy. Easy to understand when compared to his overachieving, out of this world siblings. But really, is an Alaskan bush pilot and wilderness guide unimpressive? Not in my book.
Merritt has more to her than meets the eye. A grieving daughter and new CEO, her family drama spills over her father’s legacy of ethical mining operations. Left with a disturbing voicemail to “trust no one,” Merritt desperately needs a friend.
Read A Rebel’s Shot for page turning, heart racing adventure with mystery, intrigue and a yummy cinnamon roll hero and a capable yet vulnerable fish out of water female lead. Oh, and don’t forget those sizzling kisses! All great books have to have romance.
This intriguing story continues the saga of the Rebel family members. Tiikaan, a bush pilot, gets an offer to fly the head of a mining company to the mine and back to Barrow, AK. Though a boring job, the money will get Tiidann’s business of taking hunters on adventures off the ground. Merritt, daughter of the mining company’s president has just taken over the company. Her father died suddenly in a plane crash. Merritt knows nothing about mining, but a note from her father to “Trust no one!” haunts her and makes her wonder if her father’s death was really an accident. Tiikaan cannot help but fall for the beautiful Merritt, but knows she is out of his league. Then there is a problem with the mining company polluting the water of the Natives living in AK. Merritt has nowhere to turn. There are conflicting reports and threats from family members, but who can she trust? Things get really tangled when Tiikaan’s plane crash lands on a glacier. This exciting story kept me up late because I could not put it down.
I love Sara’s books, even if sometimes they make me hold my breath. 🫣 I appreciate how her characters seem like friends, how they cross series and how the family supports each other.
In A Rebel Shot, youngest one of the Rebel siblings, Tiikâan, perceives his life as a failure and lacking in comparison to his family, as all of his siblings excel in their chosen professions and he feels as if he doesn’t measure up.
Merritt Harland returned to Alaska after her dad died in a plane accident to take over his company. She’s met with resistance and resentment from her family. When she in informed about some conflicting reports and she sets out to investigate.
Who is behind the reports? What do they mean and what is the truth? As Merritt and Tiikâan investigate they trust no one, unsure as to who and what is going on.
I received a complimentary copy and have reviewed it voluntarily
Sara Blackard is one of my favorite suspense authors! She excells at mixing together just the right amount of tension, mystery, and romance! I am always eagerly anticipating her next new release... since I have read and reread all of her previously published books! Tiikaan and Merritt are so good together in A Rebel's Shot! I love how the extreme conditions they are forced to endure allows each to see just how capable and resilient they are while weaving them together with enduring bonds of love and honor! I appreciate how Tiikaan discovers within himself the same power and conviction that he admires in his parents and siblings! Both he and Merritt have the character to do the right thing because it is the right thing. Their growth comes when they stop letting insecurities and doubts dictate who they are and what they do. I devoured A Rebel's Shot! Now, I am again left waiting for Sara's next Rebel book!
DO NOT start this book before bed; you won't be able to put it down! Every book I read by Sara makes me love her more! This is a swoony-kisses-only, incredibly suspenseful, Alaska views, a pilot struggling to find his place in his adventurous family, a feisty, philanthropic businesswoman thrust into the CEO position of a company she doesn't want, a father's mysterious death, a mine with questionable safety issues, a sister lost in the woods, he has a loving boisterous family, she has a step-family that hates her, and a twist in the middle of the book that will have you holding your breath til the end. The message at the beginning sets the tone for the entire book: "DO NOT TRUST ANYONE!" I love Tiikaan and Merritt's relationship from its rocky start to the life-altering, terrifying middle, to the happily ever after. This book became a favorite very quickly; I can't wait to see what adventure Sara takes us on next!
A Rebel's Shot is the story of Tiikaan Rebel and Merritt Harland. Merritt has hired Tiikaan to fly here to her family's Alaskan mining site daily. Merritt has inherited the mine following her father's death and is desperate to determine whether the mine will have a negative impact on the local environment. The Harland family is dysfunctional; all of them have an axe to grind where Merritt is concerned. Can any of them be trusted? As danger draws closer, can Merritt and Tiikaan survive long enough to find the truth? From the opening pages, Sara Blackard draws the reader into this novel where everyone is a suspect. The fast-paced storyline keeps the reader engaged and invested in the outcome. When Merritt and Tiikaan are pitted against the Alaskan wilderness, will they survive? Or will a murderer go free? 5 awesome stars!
Wow! What a great romantic adventure! I love that Tiikâan is able to see the different sides of Merritt and then that he is able to realize which one is the real Merritt. I enjoyed seeing Merritt grow as a person as she dealt more and more with difficult family and circumstances. It was fun to see their relationship as it developed through the struggles and hard times. They had to learn to trust each other as they dealt with not only danger from the enemy but also the adventure and danger that Alaska flung at them during their struggles to survive. But survive they did, and their relationship thrived through it all. This was such an interesting and well-written story that kept me reading way too late into the night. It was also fun to have some of my family’s favorite movie quotes sprinkled here and there.
A Rebels Shot is the new book in Sara’s Alaskan Rebels series. Be prepared for a suspenseful adventure that will pull you right in and not let you go until the end! Tiikaan Rebel is a bush pilot working for the summer flying for the CEO of a mine company. He took the job as a means to help him build his business and stop it from going bankrupt. Expecting to find an old CEO, Tiikaan is surprised when Merritt Harland arrives, the daughter of the CEO who died. Merritt feels like she is a “fish out of water” as she deals with her stepmother, step siblings, an uncle and the knowledge that she has to prove she knows what she is doing. As evidence of a major environmental coverup appears and the possibility that her dad was murdered things get really interesting. Throw in the Alaskan wilderness and you are in for a wild ride!
Tiikâan Rebel is the member of his family that has never seemed able to compete and prove himself and now his air charter/hunting/fishing comapny is in financial trouble but a charter to take a mining executive around will save him even though been at someone's beck and call goes against his wild spirit. Imagine his surprise when he discovers Merritt Harland isn't the male that he expected but in fact a young woman Merritt suspects that her fathers heart attack wasn't all that it seemed and she has taken her father advise to trust no one to heart but the moment she meets Tiikâan she knows she can trust him and she now has someone on her side But as danger closes in and she discovers who and what is behind her fathers death They will have to work together if they are to survive and in the process they may find a love that lasts forever
Romance, Action, Suspense, Mystery and Adventure in the Alaskan Wilderness - Amazing!
This well written book had it all and I could not put it down - dying to see what would happen next with the characters who I began to care about. The story is well paced and the reader becomes involved with both the mystery and the MC's feelings as they begin to open up and trust each other. The background characters are also well developed (her evil "step-mother), as well as his huge and welcoming friends and family - many of whom also have their own stories. The Alaskan wilderness and wildlife (bears - "Oh My!") were so well described I have moved it to top of the list of places to visit. Enjoy!
I was sent an ARC by the author and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
This can be read as a stand alone, but it will be better if you’ve already read the other Alaskan Rebels books. There are also some Stryker Security characters that pop into the plot. The Stryker books were the first I read by this author, so it was good to glimpse them again. The suspense in this book is well crafted, with twists and turns, and is non stop once it starts. The characters have to fight for their lives in Alaska...a harsh environment at the best of times. There’s some clean romance woven in and the plot is intricate and engaging. A great book to start early in the day so you aren’t staying up late at night to finish it!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I feel like I might have cheated just a little, but I will admit to being desperate for the next book! The hints about Tiikâan and Merritt's story in A Rebel's Trust were downright tantalizing. So I preordered AND got my early reader team copy. Sara Blackard has done it again... not only has she given us another spinetingling Rebel adventure, and made sure that you will fall in love with the star characters, BUT I have the same compelling need to start at the beginning and read ALL of the books again! Because they truly are that good!!! That is all that I am going to say, because I don't want to unwittingly drop any spoilers... I will say, TWISTS... lots of twist and layers. Clear time, because you WON'T be able to put A Rebel's Shot down!
This was amazing! Fast paced, action packed and very descriptive.
After her father dies Merritt inherits the company much to the chagrin of her step family who fight her at every chance. She hires pilot Tiikaan who helps her solve the mystery.
Not a steamy book but very intimate. Tiikaan and Merritt were an engaging couple. Worked so well together, and had each other's backs especially when her family didn't. They had a great dynamic also.
I also enjoyed the Rebel family as well. All live wires and so bright. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
So well written, beautiful descriptions and fun banter that had me involved. And that ending. One had to cheer. So good!! I want more!
Tiikkaan is an Alaskan bush pilot who has been hired to fly the heir to a multi-billion-dollar oil company to the company mines in Alaska. He is shocked to discover the heir is a beautiful young woman who is morning the death of her father. Merritt is overwhelmed at being the new CEO of her father’s company and suspects her father was murdered. Who can she trust?
This is a very suspenseful romantic novel with lots of intrigue and adventure in the Alaskan wilderness. It contains many references to prayer and trusting God.
Favorite Quote: “Creation’s proclamation of a creator was never more evident that while soaring through the sky.
I received a copy of this book from the author. My review is entirely voluntary and unbiased.
Merritt Harland and Tiikaan Rebel have an exciting story full of the mystery and suspense and danger expected by this author. Merritt had been saving lives of orphans and vulnerable people in third world countries until her father left her a mysterious message before he died in a suspicious plane crash leaving her in the position of CEO for his company. Her step family was blindsided and irate by her receiving the position. Tiikaan has been hired to fly the CEO, Merritt, to and from mining site. He finds the woman he is transporting very intriguing and has promised to keep her safe. When they find themselves running through the wilderness of Alaska to stay alive, will he be able to keep his promise to keep her alive?
Great addition to the Alaskan Rebels series by Sara Blackard. Wow, such an intense but beautiful story! Tiikâan is a bush pilot who is attacked by a huge grizzly bear while hunting alone. Merritt’s dad sent an eerie voicemail just before he died telling her “not to trust anyone.“ What a surprise when Tiikâan discovers Merritt is the executive he’s supposed to pilot around this summer. The attraction is strong but Merritt feels her duty to her father’s legacy is more important. When she uncovers deception and danger in her company, she knows she has to fix it no matter the danger to herself. The only one she can trust is Tiikâan. *I received this as an ARC reader and am leaving my unbiased review.
Author Sara Blackard has written a story filled with suspense, action, mystery, romance, and faith. A Rebel's Shot is well-worth the lost sleep! Tiikaan and Merritt are interesting and likeable main characters. It was great to get some updates about the Rebel family, but not necessary to have read the other books in the series to be able to thoroughly enjoy this one. I love the Alaskan setting. The author uses it to add so much to the story. The plot has twists and turns that kept my interest level high. I highly recommend this to readers of romantic suspense. I received a complimentary copy and am sharing my opinion of this exciting and well-written novel.
Tiikaan is a bush pilot in AK. For the summer, he will be flying a mine executive to and from a mining site each day. He will make enough to pay off his debt and build a cabin on his land. He'll continue his hunting tours. Merritt's father is killed in a plane accident and she is now CEO of his mining company. She has no experience and the step mother and step siblings never fail to remind her of that. As things come into question at the new mine site, Merritt finds that her dad may have been murdered. She doesn't know who to trust. She has come to trust Tiikaan so she confides in him. As things escalate, they find themselves stranded in the Alaskan wilderness. So good!
This is book 4 of the Alaskan Rebels series and is Tiikaan's story. His business is on the verge of bankruptcy, so he takes a summer job flying the CEO of a mining company, thinking it would be easy money.
Merritt Harland's father has died and she has been thrust into the CEO's position quite unexpectedly.
Beginning with a grizzly bear attack, they then must survive a plane crash, another bear attack and treachery from within.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy from the author with no obligation to post a positive review.
This book! Wow, so many feelings, yet I'm not entirely sure how to word it all. I will mention that there is some cussing, pop-culture reference, and I'm sure a couple other things that should probably be mentioned, oh yeah there's a fair amount of violence (both between people-people and people-vs-wildlife in a few of places). That's definitely the big things that I can think of that readers need to be warned about and aware of.
I've finally caught up on the Alaskan Rebels series, so far, and can now say this one has been my favorite so far! I knew I wanted to read Tiikâan's story after briefly meeting him in Gunner's book when I started this series a couple years ago. It's been a wait, but it was so worth it! I enjoyed Sunny's book last year, and knew I had to make this one a priority to read this year, and I'm so glad that I did! Tiikâan and Merritt were such a fun pairing, and I loved seeing their relationship grow and change and develop as the story goes on. I also adored seeing the Rebels rally together, and the love and acceptance that pours forth from them that we see a little of in each book in this delightful series! This one, oh! The whole story was sort of like a warm hug...well in the Alaskan wilderness with, you know, murderous wildlife and a deranged killer after you... You know, all in a day in the life of a Rebel, I guess. Lol. Really though, I adored reading Tiikâan's story, and finally getting to know him better and seeing how it all turns out. Plus, this one has me all the more excited for the last two Rebels and their stories! Especially Magnus' story, which was hinted at toward the end of the book.
