Have you ever tried NYC's Magnolia Bakery Banana Pudding? If so, then you know how wonderful it is and you should know that the price of this book is well worth that one wonderful recipe. If you have never had their Banana Pudding, then you must try it, it is heavenly! But, there is an added benefit with this book. You also get the Magnolia Bakery's famous cupcake and buttercream icing recipes! These cupcakes, in my humble opinion, are the best in the world! I have made the vanilla cupcakes and the buttercream so many times that I have the recipe's memorized. I have tried many buttercream recipes, but none come close to this one, and it is easy to make ! So, it should be pretty obvious that I believe you will love this book. As if the ones already mentioned were not enough, let me tell you a few of the other recipes included. They are (randomly chosen), Raspberry Cream Cheese Breakfast Buns, Blueberry Coffee Cake with Vanilla Glaze, Pear Pecan Cake, Brown Sugar Pecan Cake, Pumpkin Walnut Cookies with Brown Butter Frosting, Peanut Butter Cup Cookies, Orange Vanilla Chip Cookies, Chocolate Buttermilk Layer Cake, Caramel Apple Pecan Cheesecake, Cheese Pie, Nectarine Cobbler, and Sweet Potato Pie. This is a wonderful cookbook. Everything is doable in my own kitchen, the directions are easy to follow with a terrific tips section in the front of the book. A must for anyone who likes to bake.

I can't say that I finished reading this book, since I did not read ALL of the abundant recipes included.

The amount of the recipes listed itself already overwhelmed me in the first place (correct me if I'm wrong, but this book consists of the two previous Magnolia books, doesn't it?).

Not to mention that I already knew in prior that the cookbook uses cup measurements for the recipes, which I have to tell once again, that I resent. I much prefer recipes with metric measurements.

So when I picked the book from #InternetArchive, I intended solely to know more about #MagnoliaBakery, the renowned, dreamy bakery. And of course to know about how they make their bestseller products, especially their cupcakes and banana pudding. And to learn how they combine flavors in their baked goods.

I admit that I did save two of the recipes from this cookbook for future reference, though I'm not sure whether or not I'll use cup measurements like the recipess call. Let that be for another brainstorming session in my kitchen.

Bought this recipe book, and glad I did. Have tried a couple of the recipes and the Oatmeal Muffins turned out fantastic, keep in the fridge and heat them in the microwave for 15 seconds and put butter on them. Yum, then I had a go a making the Raspberry Cream Cheese Buns, don't know what I did wrong, they were looking really good, and while I let them cool, the centre sank, but still taste good. Just have to keep trying till I get it right. Next time I'll use home made preserve instead of store bought as I found that it was too sweet. Can't wait to try more recipes from this book.

Having never been to the Magnolia Bakery, I was hoping to find some new/different recipes, but this was not the case. Many of the recipes were not bakery recipes, but 'family' recipes, and just older ones passed down (that can be found most anywhere). Calling what are essentially muffin recipes "rolls" just because they're made in a different tin didn't do it for me. I think I bookmarked only 3 recipes to maybe try.

I'm surprised that some of the bakery items in the book were recipes given to them by customers. It kind of bothers me that they charge so much for their cupcakes when you can make it at home with the recipes in the book. I'm planning on making the classic cupcakes with a easier pre-made coconut oil frosting (vegan). Also why aren't there more photos?!

Not enough content to interest me. American measurements are easy enough converted but the American ingredients are harder to figure out substitutions, half and half, semisweet chocolate, peanut butter chips and plenty more besides

Ingredient amounts are not clear. 1 and a half cups of chopped white chocolate doesn’t tell me how much I need. I want ounces. Why don’t I have weights for all the ingredients.

I didn't really see anything in here that made me want to run to the kitchen and start baking. It felt like these were just recycled recipes from every women's magazine or family cookbook from the 1970s and 80s.

Where they really lost credibility with me was with the banana pudding. Sweetened condensed milk and vanilla pudding mix? Seriously? This is your "famous" banana pudding? No, that's the pudding brought to potlucks by that one relative who can't manage to make instant grits without watching twelve YouTube how to videos, and they know they can't get away with bringing a bag of Fritos again. That's lazy banana pudding for when you don't care what it tastes like. Just use the one on the Nilla wafer box. Even that's not as good as it used to be, but at least it doesn't taste like something a high school cafeteria would serve.

Hmm.. Maybe I have gotten the rotten apple?
My paperback has got many flaws. First off: the edges are cut uneven.
Second, there are a serious lack of pictures in this book. One of the fun Things With cookbooks is to look at the pics and get inspiration. Many pages are blank.
One picture is upside down,
I've heard soooo much about Magnolia Bakery so I expected to get a book that would become a favorite in my shelf. But this book? Thinking about returning it to the web bookstore.
