Absolutely loved this book, Once I started I couldn’t couldn’t put it down! This book has everything you need… and the spicy scenes are 🥵🥵🥵. However what I really loved about this book is it’s take on Life and Death and the way the reaper learns what love is. The way that Life changes him to be a better man and the way he treats Life 🥺 10/10 recommend you give this book a read!
ARC from Author -no Spoilers, Stand alone - no cliff hanger. Dual 1st person POV. Characters 18+ M/F, Fated mates, Paranormal romance, Immortals ***TW Abuse, Death, Forced abortion - fade to black, self harm***
Nikolai O'Malley is Death and Azaira Everly is Life, complete opposites but instinctively drawn to each other. Darkness needs the Light and Sunshine needs the Shade, will they find their Happy Ever After?
The overall premise of this book is superb and tempted me to apply for the ARC.
I did however struggle with the 1st person DUAL POV, there was a lack of fluidity to the reading and in turn no real depth to the characters could be birthed so I failed to connect with them despite the danger and heartache they encounter.
A shame as like I said the foundation plot line is excellent and I wonder if by changing the POV or even just presenting one characters POV, greater justice could have been given to the narrative with less repetition incurring, just my opinion.
Azaira's Best Friend was lovely and the Tree was so imaginative, fabulous. Would have liked more World Building especially in view of the Revelations. Super Cover Art too.
In short; 1st person character driven dual POV romance, quick read, med burn/spice and to take note of Trigger warnings.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I had the privilege of being an ARC reader for "Breathe Me In by Dawn Rose" .
Unfortunately this story didn't do it for me. I'm sorry.
When I asked if I could get the privilege to read the story, the synopsis had hooked me and had me quite intrigued on how Life and Death could attempt a romance with each other since they symbolise different sides of well, life..
Sadly the story seems quite repetitive that I just mindlessly scrolled to the next page, letting my eyes skim over the words on my screen.
The antagonist almost felt like it was forced into the storyline that it made me feel like there was no true reason for that character to be there.
Since it was a first person story, which I didn't realise when I asked. I did struggle a bit (I've already admitted in the past that 1st isn't for me) but because it's a dual first person story, it felt quite hard to tell the difference between the two characters when they spoke.
Since its was a dual perspective, the characters are essentially just repeating everything from the previous scene, which caused me to just scroll a little too quick through the story.
I wish Dawn Rose luck but unfortunately this story just didn't do it for me.
