Jordan King is known as the most eligible bachelor in the Motor City, especially now that he's been named the captain of the legendary Detroit Pirates. But Jordan realizes the title carries with it a new-found sense of responsibility. He needs to be a leader if he wants the team to win it all this season, which means leaving behind his reputation as a partying ladies' man.
Charlotte Stone is a best-selling author and Manhattan socialite who is sick of the city. She's determined to live somewhere different that doesn't include being a guest star on her mother's reality show. But places like London or Los Angeles would just be more of the same. Then she hears about a building renovation project in Detroit and decides a move to somewhere completely unexpected is exactly what she needs.
What Charlotte doesn't need is another hockey player in her life. Two years ago, she dated the biggest pest in the league who ended up breaking her heart. So why is she trying to find excuses to see the all-star captain of the Pirates?
And how did she become the only woman who could derail Jordan's plan to win it all?

So this started off great then the middle was also good....then it took a nosedive and I got bored. Lord they both handled that drama like children. So not great there. But they did save it in the epilogue so I guess that's a plus. Yay them
She writes books, he skims the ice, together they heat up the night
Charlotte Stone was many things, an author, a reality TV personality, an intelligent and beautiful woman. She had also made a huge mistake when she fell hard for an ice hockey player. Declan had played both on the ice and off. Charlotte just hadn’t realized until it was too late. That was behind her now, two years in the past. She had even moved to Detroit, bought a condominium, renovated the space and made it hers. She gave herself view over looking the city where she could spent time writing. Finally, She felt she was ready to get back to writing the books her readers really loved. She never expected to slip on the ice again with another big time hockey player, that is until she met Jordan King, the Captain the Detroit Pirates team. But Jordan wasn’t going to let her fall on her own this time. He was with her right up until he found she hadn’t been totally up front with him about her past. Two intelligent, talented, driven people drawn together in a relationship that definitely is going in the right direction. So, why would Charlotte even consider mentioning someone Jordan absolutely hated, as much as he did Declan. He was in her past. The characters are likable, their relationship is about getting to know each other, along with enough heat to melt any ice and a bit of info about the game of ice hockey. A good romance with only a few slip ups. I would recommend this story to those who enjoy a good romantic tale, don’t mind a bit of sport talk about the game, enjoy spiced up romantic encounters and know that if you both care enough you get through the rough patches to find you happy ever after.
This was such a fun read! Redford captured my heart with her protagonists. I was immediately drawn to Charlotte and Jordan and rooting for them from the beginning. I also SUPER hated Declan right away. The couple was cute and domestic from the start. It was clear they were a fantastic match. This book is great to devour in an afternoon or savor during a weekend at the poolside. I look forward to more from the Detroit Pirates series!
This was OK. It just seemed a little light to me ... light on the conflict, which can be nice but this time just seemed a little bland; light on the hockey action, never nice in my book; and light on the connection between these two ... and I’m not *just* talking about sex, but that was light as well. I don’t know. It was OK, maybe more of a 2.5? I’ll try the next one in the series and see if it’s a one off or if this series just isn’t for me.
Eh, this one was okay. The MMC is a huge baby, throwing an absolute fit about the FMC not telling him who she dated in the past even though he also hasn't told her that info. The whole story was just kind of roll your eyes worthy with the whole conflict of the story literally that point and him saying she was just an attention seeker because of her parents. It was too much drama for very little reward.
This book has a good story with a sexy hero and heroine to match. She had her own life and wasn't a complete puck bunny who has no life. She is smart, competent and can support and fend for herself. However, she's not afraid to admit her feelings for her captain, even though she was hurt by a hockey player in the past.
This was my first book by author Jenny Redford, but it won't be my last - I will read more by her in the future. This one left me feeling a little EH - it had some spelling errors, some typo's and not enough angst to believe the story. The author needed a bit more oomph to it. A good read overall.
Without giving the storyline more depth, thought that a short summary would be enjoyable more.
Take a devoted Captain and add a author to the mix, one that's been connected to a reality socialite, and knows all about the media searches, you've created a perfect love story. Well written..
Charlotte is a writer who writes about meet-cute couples. Jordan is a reformed player made captain. They have their own meet-cute at the beginning of the book and the rest is history. There is a misunderstanding that took way too long to sort out. I also felt that the chapters could have been a bit more detailed. It would have made the story more coherent.
Jordan was a hockey captain. He loved his team. Charlotte needed to get away from New York. She dated a hockey player there and it ended badly. No more hockey players for her, but then she met Jordan. Things were pretty good for them until Jordan found out that Charlotte’s ex was the guy that he disliked so much. Read this story.
This was awesome! I read it before the extensive changes, but everything I loved from the plot was still there, and there was bonus hockey! And original twists! The characters are fun and relateable, and it was just a good time.
4 pucks This book was good, but a little predictable for me. I enjoyed falling in love with Jordan & Charlie, none the less, though. You could feel the chemistry between them and the emotions flowing through the pages. I do recommend trying this book out for yourself!
An okay read that just needed a bit more honesty earlier in the storyline. I’m all for karma and would have liked to see it in response to the ex getting some payback. Characters were just okay and the book isn’t a keeper.
I really enjoy discovering Jenny Redford series about hockey romance, good flow, great description of the characters. I loved it so much that I read the 2 following books.
Eh, not my favorite hockey romance. Interesting enough to finish but not the most compelling relationship. It was almost Insta-love but not quite with misdirected rage and closed door spice.
