Elf Night by Jan Wahl. Illustrated by Peter Weevers. Published 01 April 2002 by Carolrhoda Books. Kindle edition. 4 Stars.

A boy is enchanted by his nighttime search for elves. Listening deeply and waiting in silence, he discovers the magic of the night. A sweet book for the imaginative child at bedtime.

I love fairies and elves. And while I prefer the older tales that are more cautionary, this beautifully illustrated tale of a little boy exploring the nigh time magic of a fae revelry is a wonderful story to send a child off to sleep with.

The book is easy to read aloud due to its simple rhyming couplet format and that's a benefit for a book meant for bedtime. It keeps the energy of the story calm even through the excitement of exploration. The end result is a book that will keep a child's attention without getting them riled up.

I loved this book but i didn’t rate it 5 stars because there’s something that i feel that can’t make it 5 stars. My favorite part was when the elf’s came and the boy saw them. The elf’s were really cute.

This story was good. It isn’t great but i still recommend it for a younger audience(about 5-6 years old maybe). But my favorite part is when the elf’s come out and fly around and the boy gets to see them.

This is a poetic bedtime tale. The language is sparse and won't appeal to everyone. The illustrations are lovely, though. If your child likes fairies and elves, the book is worth checking out.

Elf Night is a cute bedtime book. The books is about a boy and the magical adventures he goes through before going to bed. He rids on crickets, skipping in starlight, spinning on toadstools, and sliding on moonbeams. The boy and the elves dance all night long through what seems to be the woods. The books makes it seem as if these elves and crickets are calling the boy out of his house, so they can go on an adventure. It definitely gives younger children that wild imagination.

The pages throughout the whole book are very colorful and very detailed. The text is short and the fine print defines the pictures. I like how the pictures and the text are separate from each other. This helps the children really focus on one thing before moving onto the words or pictures. I like how the words pop out in every page, and the bleeding of the pictures do not get in the way of the description.
