1959 No writing, tears, marks, or creases on any pages. The pages are tanned with age. The cover, binding and spine are in good condition though they show some wear. The corners are bumped.
Definitely one of the better-written Whitman TV tie-ins for younger readers. It's a neat plot, and filled with plenty of interesting details - clearly written by someone who had actually watched and enjoyed the show!
Great book. I read this as a kid. In fact, I got caught reading it behind a schoolbook by my Dad, who threw it in the trash. {I retrieved it.} Well, years pass and I'm now an adult. I never forgot this story. Found myself wanting to read it again but time had once again taken the book away from me. I ordered another copy and found it as entertaining as it had been when I was young. I recommend it to any youngster and if you were a Rifleman fan, to any adult! It reads very much like an episode and the author captured the feel of the show.
The show was always fantastic, and this was like unlocking a secret episode. Despite this one being published in 1959, the language, imagery, and story telling is equally effective to the tv series. If you are a fan of The Rifleman, The Andy Griffith Show, or GunSmoke, you'll find this one a breeze and a cozy read for a true Western lover.
Picked this up at an antique store because I've always enjoyed the tv series. The book was great too. I love the relationship between Mark and his father, my main reason for following the series. So if you like the series and want more, this is the book for you.
