Leaving his home in Edinburgh, Scotland, Richard Evans begins a life of magic at Crauford Castle under the tutelage of Master Sorcerer Angus MacCorkadall. When the time comes for him to move up to the next level of study, MacCorkadall has a surprise for the young wizard. He is able to move forward two levels if he can complete a quest to find, and return to the Master, the Great Power Stone, hidden on a faraway world. Richard is allowed to take eleven of his fellow students to help him with his quest. Trouble begins at the start when six of his friends are lost in an accident caused by Sebastian, who would do anything to take control of the quest and win the prize for himself. Moving from world to world, Richard finds, and loses, more than just the friends he started with. He and his companions fight trolls, dragons and treachery from within their own ranks. Will he be able to complete the quest and return home with the Power Stone before he loses everything he holds dear, including his own life?
