Winner of ISSTD's 2009 Pierre Janet Writing Award for the best publication on dissociation in 2009!
Dissociation and the Dissociative Disorders is a book that has no real predecessor in the dissociative disorders field. It reports the most recent scientific findings and conceptualizations about dissociation; defines and establishes the boundaries of current knowledge in the dissociative disorders field; identifies and carefully articulates the field s current points of confusion, gaps in knowledge, and conjectures; clarifies the different aspects and implications of dissociation; and sets forth a research agenda for the next decade. In many respects, Dissociation and the Dissociative Disorders both defines and redefines the field.
Finally finished reading! It's a long and heavy read (900p) but very enlightening of the academic discussion on (almost) everything about dissociation. We have the recent version from last year, so we wanted to finish this previous version first. Recommended for every professional interested in dissociation, not really recommended for dissociative patients nor beginners, you might get confused, we got confused, but we can handle it now. I recommend you get the kindle version, you're going to need it if you need to find info fast.
This was a huge book, really huge. Incredibly done, the research is profound and accurate, I would say this is an amazing meta-analysis of all dissociation and trauma lealtad topic. From neurociences to neccesary research, all people who participated on this book have made a great job. Conclusions are pretty helpful at the end of each chapter. It may be a lot fo info. if not used to read these pretty heavy theory book, also has a lot of technical language, I know many psychologist aren’t used to, so you’ll have to study this book and give several effort. I learned a lot with this, as a current psychology students my friends are actually astonished of how I argue and know about psychology now I have read this book. Thanks to LSS for the reccomendations, I read this because of yours channel!
Now some moths after reading it. I would loved to see more evidence based psychology an less psychoanalysis. We'll the next one.
