Steve Farrar is the founder of Men’s Leadership Ministries. He holds a Master’s degree from Western Seminary, and an earned doctorate from Dallas Theological Seminary. Steve is the author of the best-selling book, Point Man: How a Man Can Lead His Family, God Built, Battle Ready, and True Courage. Steve Farrar resides in Texas with his family.

Steve Farrar had written an excellent book for men. As the name implies, men are called to be battle ready for when the time of stress hit, the times of economic upheaval, the times when we are not sure what to do. It tells the life of Joshua and Caleb as they take the country of Israel into the promised land. We see what is special about these men and how to make that same thing happen in our lives by implementing them.
Great book for men's ministry or stand alone.

Solid and Biblical

Steve Farrar writes words of wisdom based upon bedrock principles found in Scripture. While addressed primarily to men, there are precepts here which will be beneficial to anyone. Especially did I enjoy the story of the ranch!

I have to give this book 5 stars because it is the most timely book I have ever read. I was in a place of waiting and transition and Chapters 6-7 really hit home. God knew what he was doing when he lead me to this book. His timing is perfect!

Although this book was written for men I found it extremely informative and interesting. The author, a man who has a ministry for men takes everyday occurrances and shows how they are a part of God's plans even if we can't see it at the time. This book is about having faith in God. God uses many different stages to hone us into servants that are capable of standing strong in the face of difficulties. Although we may go through the desert of monotony, disappointment, and down right boredom, it is our faith that God will use us and our study of the Word that in the end makes us ready for the trials of leadership ahead. God can not use someone who is too anxious to be the leader and is not capable of standing in the face of problems, he uses the leader who can face anything and carry on. The men of the bible that Mr Farrar focuses on are Caleb and Joshua, two men of great leadership and strength who spent 40 years wandering in the desert before being allowed to enter the Promised Land. This is the second book in the Bold Men series and is definitely a must read for anyone interested in a look behind the scenes of a "successful" Christian leader.

“If a man asks God to use him, he’s asking for a good thing,” says Farrar. “But how God chooses to answer that prayer and the way He purposes to prepare him for such a life may bear little resemblance to how he imagined it would work!”

My men's Bible study group did this book. Farrar applies Joshua and Caleb to what is going on in men's lives today. Questions in the back for each chapter insure that the group will have things to talk about. For me trusting God with my finances and employment in today's world is often difficult for me. Helped me see that many men worry about the same things I do.
