Terrorists terrorize Miami. The American president is extorted by them and blackmailed by a senator. The Miami field office of the Domestic Security Agency has to stop the terrorists. Their top agent is Jane Block. She must act fast.
The premise of the book was OK. I read the entire "Owl" series and thought I would like this series as much as the earlier one but I did not. Writing was simple and clunky, and there are many issues with plot development. The most striking issue was the development of the 20+ characters. There was no redeeming qualities about any of them, "good guys" or "bad guys". It almost makes you want the bad guys to win, but they were as idiotic as the good guys. Do not start this series.
I Read this in 2 sittings! The writing was tight, The plot was excellent, And it's a subject That could possibly happen and if it did, it would be comforting to know the people like our DSA actually existed!
I enjoyed the Owl Series about a sharpshooter assasin, so I assumed Costello's quality of writing would extend to other books as well. Not so, if this one is anything to go by. I can't exactly lay my finger on it, but this book hasn't got it. Bad start for a new series.
