Layla is a full-time educator and is married with two children. Despite a very busy schedule, she always immerses herself in books of various genres in her spare time.
In July of 2014, while discussing books with her sister-in-law one day, she mentioned that she had thought about trying to write her own book sometime. Knowing that the creative arts were already her strong suit, her sister-in-law simply said, "Go for it." And she did.
That very night, Layla went home, opened up a word document and started Chapter 1. Before the night was over, four chapters were complete and the story of Nicole Pepper and Gage Anderson was born.
Like most projects, she couldn't stop until she was finished. After sharing "Catching My Heart" with some close friends, she decided to publish and see where things went. Well, they just kept going. The story of Nicole and Gage continued to form in her brain and it soon became the Grand Slam Trilogy.
As she continued to write, some of her friends/editors/proof-readers asked for a story about Tony Rivera, a detective that plays a secondary role in the Grand Slam Trilogy. Without much hesitation, the Arrested Hearts Series was born.
From there, she has since moved on with two more series: Finding Harmony and Second Chances. All the while, the characters from her stories interact with one another and you continue to watch Nicole and Gage move forward with their lives.
What started as a random burst of creativity has blossomed into an extremely satisfying side gig that has yet to lose momentum. As long as the ideas keep coming and her friends still want to read, she will continue to write.
Additionally, with a few exceptions, the book covers are designed and drawn by Layla.
Luciano (aka Luke) Donati is a firefighter. He is also Italian and very good looking. After having his heartbroken, he moved to the US to work and forget about the heart ache. Fire Schooled is a fast paced, heart beat skipping, page turner! Jojo is a first grade teacher who is still traumatized by her senior year of high school where a rumor was spread that she truly lived up to her name, Jolene, and stole her best friends boyfriend, which is as far from the truth as you can get. Luke is a hot Italian firefighter who is using his job to cover old wounds and hooks up with women at random. When they meet at a school fire demonstration, it’s instant sparks. This budding relationship is about to face so many odds including facing their pasts and the people in them. Are either of them strong enough to keep things in the past or is it going to be their biggest downfall? Grab this story and you won’t be disappointed with its intricate storyline and heart pounding action!!
I really enjoyed this book. The chemistry between JoJo and Luke is on fire. I laughed at the banter between Luke and JoJo. It is so spot on for this relationship. It was a fun, quick, and steamy read and I highly recommend it. JoJo is a 1st grade teacher and it is Fire Prevention Week so the local firemen are coming for a end of the week presentation. When she sees Luke putting on his fire gear she has a reaction that isn't appropriate in front of her class. Luke who has recently given up his playboy ways turns around and locks eyes with JoJo. He is instantly drawn to her and does his best to stay close during the presentation. As they get to know each other, several things try to get in their way. Will they overcome them? I received this book as an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
3.5 stars I very much enjoyed the premise of this story – a firefighter and schoolteacher. Luke and Jojo are very interesting characters and each has a reputation that could scare a partner away. I loved the scenes where they are with family members and the caretaking ones. This story has a lot of things I very much enjoy and somethings that just didn’t work for me. A lot was going on in this story and for me not all of it was concluded in a way that I felt satisfied with.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I am new to Ms Delaney’s books and I loved reading about Luciano and Jojo. Although Luciano is a huge playboy he has certainly met his match in Jojo and he is totally smitten by her. A fast paced book with lots of action, wonderful characters and a very interesting story, you will be hooked with this sweet love story of two people from different worlds who are brought together by circumstance and have a mutual attraction. Luciano will set you on fire with his charismatic nature. Loved it!!!
I received an arc copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This was a super quick fun story! It focuses on Luke, a firefighter, and JoJo, a teacher. Since it’s labeled a novella, it is a very quick read (It took me about two hours to read.), but I felt like I was able to get to know the characters and that it had a full plot with some twists and action! It did have spice and a lovely “Italian Stallion”! This is not my first quick read from this author, and it won’t be my last!
Firefighter hot...Luke & JoJo will steam your glasses. He's so enamored with her he does a few things he shouldn't that will get him into some big trouble. He wouldn't change a thing as she is worth it!!
