Improve your small talk and sharpen your conversational skills with this giant collection of ridiculously useless but endlessly fascinating facts. Organized from A to Z, there are over 1,000 trivia tidbits for you to persue. Start off with little-known facts about Aristotle and Barbie, and continue until you've discovered hidden gems about zombies, zippers, and more! Did you know Levi Strauss originally intended to sell canvas tents to miners in California but ended up using the fabric to make what the prospectors really needed - pants! r that a chicken in Colorado had its head cut off and managed to life... for another two years! The Utterly, Completely, and Totally Useless Fact-o-pedia is a virtual treasure trove of useless fact fixes for the insatiably curious.
This is not one of those books that'll leave you saying, "that was the best book!" But, I did enjoy reading it. I found it free on Kindle, so grabbed it to have something to read "between books" if you know what I mean. You could say it's a small encyclopedia of information you'll probably never need, but now that I've read it, I do feel a bit like Cliff Claven from Cheers-always sharing little tidbits of random information. For instance, did you know that the planet Venus rotates backwards or that in 1695 American colonies levied a tax on bachelors to encourage young men to marry? You never know when you might need this information! I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoys having utterly, completely, and totally useless facts at the ready.
If you enjoy relatively useless, completely random trivia, this is a fun book for you. I really enjoyed the alphabetical organization (it helped to keep the information fresh), and the facts truly are random.
It's not so useless, after all, as the title implies. If you want a book of just some interesting fun facts organized from A to Z so you can share with your friends, this book has you covered. It does what it says on the tin. I don't have anything negative to say. It's a fun little read.
This book is a collection of random facts and little known knowledge. I usually like fact books like this, but I'd say at least half of the book I knew already or it wasn't interesting.
Entertaining A fun filled collection of very interesting trivial facts. I enjoyed many good laughs while reading. Easy to start and stop. No need to go back after a long inactivity because there is no plot to keep track of.
An excellent book as it's not just brief trivia about historical people and places and events but actual thought out facts.
Unfortunately, several important historical subjects were left out like the Great Wall of China, Stonehenge and many of the groups in Europe such as the Druids, Visigoths, Celts and more.
They weren't kidding when they said useless. Turns out I already know a lot about most of the historical topics I'm interested in. There were a few things that I didn't really think should have been labeled as "useless", but most just seemed pointless and not very interesting.
