Robert Jordan was the pen name of James Oliver Rigney, Jr., under which he was best known as the author of the bestselling The Wheel of Time fantasy series. He also wrote under the names Reagan O'Neal and Jackson O'Reilly.
Jordan was born in Charleston, South Carolina. He served two tours in Vietnam (from 1968 to 1970) with the United States Army as a helicopter gunner. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with bronze oak leaf cluster, the Bronze Star with "V" and bronze oak leaf cluster, and two Vietnamese Gallantry Crosses with palm. After returning from Vietnam he attended The Citadel where he received an undergraduate degree in physics. After graduating he was employed by the United States Navy as a nuclear engineer. He began writing in 1977. He was a history buff and enjoyed hunting, fishing, sailing, poker, chess, pool, and pipe collecting.
He described himself as a "High Church" Episcopalian and received communion more than once a week. He lived with his wife Harriet McDougal, who works as a book editor (currently with Tor Books; she was also Jordan's editor) in a house built in 1797.
Responding to queries on the similarity of some of the concepts in his Wheel of Time books with Freemasonry concepts, Jordan admitted that he was a Freemason. However, "like his father and grandfather," he preferred not to advertise, possibly because of the negative propaganda against Freemasonry. In his own words, "no man in this country should feel in danger because of his beliefs."
On March 23, 2006, Jordan disclosed in a statement that he had been diagnosed with cardiac amyloidosis, and that with treatment, his median life expectancy was four years, though he said he intended to beat the statistics. He later posted on his Dragonmount blog to encourage his fans not to worry about him and that he intended to have a long and fully creative life.
He began chemotherapy treatment at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, in early April 2006. Jordan was enrolled in a study using the drug Revlimid just approved for multiple myeloma but not yet tested on primary amyloidosis.
Jordan died at approximately 2:45 p.m. EDT on September 16, 2007, and a funeral service was held for him on Wednesday, September 19, 2007. Jordan was cremated and his ashes buried in the churchyard of St. James Church in Goose Creek, outside Charleston.

Este volumen, junto al anterior, son de esos "libros del medio" que llegan a desesperar un tanto. El problema es que el autor no resuelve casi nada o sólo cosas insignificantes mientras la trama se sigue complicando y no paran de aparecer personajes nuevos. Queda mucho camino por recorrer de la rueda pero aún así hay asuntos que parecen alargarse indefinidamente en el tiempo.
Por primera vez, la saga comienza a hacerse pesada, muchos libros a la espalda y muchos que aún quedan por venir. Mat está ausente y no tendremos noticias de él en este volumen. Los demás andan en sus propios asuntos. Nada parece avanzar. Las empresas que cada uno ha emprendido quedan irresolutas.
Un libro del medio, aunque necesario, no es el mejor de todos.
Por primera vez, la saga comienza a hacerse pesada, muchos libros a la espalda y muchos que aún quedan por venir. Mat está ausente y no tendremos noticias de él en este volumen. Los demás andan en sus propios asuntos. Nada parece avanzar. Las empresas que cada uno ha emprendido quedan irresolutas.

Elayne, Nynaeve et Aviendha s'apprêtent à quitter Ebou Dar. Pendant ce temps Perrin est à la recherche du Prophète.
Un tome qui aurait pu être un peu faible à cause d'une intrigue de fin qui patine parfois un peu avec Perrin. La fusion de cette intrigue avec une autre permet cependant d'en relancer un peu l'intérêt et d'élaguer un peu le nombre de scénarios à suivre parallèlement.
Dommage que ce ne fut pas le cas de l'intrigue des Shaido qui piétine terriblement depuis deux tomes environ. J'ai eu également de plus en plus de mal avec les matriarches aielles qui m'irritent de plus en plus...
Heureusement, la première partie de ce tome 15 s'est avérée d'une saveur sans pareil grâce à Elayne et Aviendha et m'a tellement diverti qu'elle rehausse à elle seule la note globale. Etant déjà très fan de la jeune héritière, j'ai été ravi d'apprécier de plus en plus également l'Aielle et son sens de l'humour (ou son manque d'humour?) parfois trop terre à terre.

Lite seg bok med mycket politiska diskussioner och vändningar, känns inte som att handlingen går speciellt mycket framåt och beskrivningarna av alla personer mm tar alldeles för mycket plats i boken, medel 3a. Känns som att de senaste böckerna har blivit mer och mer beskrivningar av ganska ointressanta detaljer och man blandar in en massa namn på personer som inte ger speciellt mycket för handlingen.

Cada vez tengo más claro que hicieron mal en la edición en español dividiendo los libros en dos tomos porque no el primer tomo nunca tiene un buen final y se pierda la cadencia de lectura. Pero en lo que se refiere a la trama general sigue interesante y me estoy asustando un poco con los seanchan. Y no digo más que se me escapa algún spoiler...

Toujours ces débuts de tome trop lents, ici avec la coupe du vent et les apprentissages de Avendhia
Enfin on retrouve Perrin qui aspire toujours à une vie tranquille mais ecrase par le poid des responsabilités. Et enfin un peu d antagonistes, un peu de tour noire ! Hâte de lire la seconde partie qui sont toujours + dynamiques

Pire traduction que je n'ai lu (erreurs à droite et à gauche, espaces manquants, caractères en plus, mots non traduits...). À part ça l'histoire est bien

Surprisingly, I actually liked this one for most part anyway. There was one chapter I wasn't too keen on, but otherwise... I seriously thought it would be a bore and would read one chapter and then change to a different book and alternate, but not this time.
